Hughes assembled the worlds largest private airforce, with 45 wwI planes, and many WWI pilots to shoot Hell's Angels.
The Hell Gate Bridge/New York Connecting Railroad Bridge.
Named for the dangerous rocks and perilous waters at the confluence of the East and the Harlem Rivers, Hell Gate is surrounded by Manhattan, Queens, and three islands: Wards, Randalls, and Roosevelt (formerly called Blackwell's, then Welfare).
Legend holds that when all of the professional pilots refused to attempt a particular stunt(a low altitude dive past a camera tower) Hughes stepped in and flew it himself. He got the shot but couldn't pull out. He crashed just as the pilots had predicted. The impact bounced his face off of the rim of the cockpit. The first people on the scene of the wreck found the crumpled bi-plane empty and followed a trail of blood to a nearby hanger. There they found a battered Hughes babbling about his golf game. He collapsed into unconsciousness with a skull fracture. He came to later in a hospital jumped out of the bed and ran out the door, much to the shock of the attendants. Howard kept the propeller from the wrecked bi-plane as a macabre reminder of this brush with death.
Jigoku Meguri,” touring the boiling “Hells of Beppu,” is a popular tourist route of eight unique bubbling and steaming hot springs. Each of these onsen (hot spring) has a distinctive characteristic. Visitors can enjoy a close-up look at volcanic pits where furious eruptions happened more than a millennium ago. The most spectacular one is Umi Jigoku, or Sea Hell, the largest among the eight. Although the pond is boiling hot, its cobalt blue water reminds us of the sea in the South Pacific Ocean. The following four hells are also very unique and popular among tourists. Oniishibozu Jigoku features bubbling mud, a foot bath, and its own hot-spring baths (extra admission required). Kamado Jigoku, the Oven Hell, was used for cooking and has a statue of a red devil. Chinoike Jigoku, the Blood-Pond Hell, is blood red because of red clay which contains iron oxide. Tatsumaki Jigoku, or Waterspout Hell, has one of the largest geysers in Japan. Each hell requires admission fee, and a combo ticket for for all of them is also available. Also, sightseeing buses take you through the eight spectacular springs in about two and a half hours.
The New Museum almost lost the funds necessary to keep this as part of their facade. Happily, here it will remain. Hell Yes!
The Hell Gate Bridge (originally the New York Connecting Railroad Bridge or The East River Arch Bridge) is a 1,017-foot (310 m) steel arch railroad bridge between Astoria in the borough of Queens and Randall's and Ward's Islands (which are now joined into one island and are politically part of Manhattan) in New York City, over a portion of the East River known as Hell Gate.
From Wikipedia.
The bridge is used by Amtrak and by some CSX, Canadian Pacific, Providence & Worcester Railroad, and New York and Atlantic freight trains. The bridge and structure are owned by Amtrak, part of its Washington, D.C. to Boston electrified main line known as the Northeast Corridor. Metro-North Railroad trains may one day run on the bridge. The bridge is also part of the New York Connecting Railroad, a rail line that links New York City and Long Island to the North American mainland.
The Hell Gate Bridge runs parallel to the Queens span of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, which connects Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan, and drivers can see the length of the bridge just east of the roadway.
The great arch bridge is the largest of three bridges, along with more than 17,000 feet (3.2 mi; 5.2 km) long of approach spans and viaducts, that form the Hell Gate complex. An inverted bowstring truss bridge with four 300-foot (91.4 m) spans crosses the Little Hell Gate (now filled in); and a 350-foot (106.7 m) fixed truss bridge crosses the Bronx Kill (now narrowed by fill).
This bridge was the inspiration for the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Sydney, Australia.

Hell is a group of short, black, limestone formations located on Grand Cayman. It is in West Bay.
The area is about the size of half a football field.
Visitors are not permitted to walk on the limestone formations but a couple of viewing platforms are provided.
We visited 'Hell' in April 2018.
There were small statues of devils scattered throughout the area.
Once again, people in my neighbourhood just haven't got a clue when it comes to putting out the rubbish for collection.
Every other week it is the non-recycleable rubbish (grey bins). The rubbish should all be in bags within the bin and the lid should close. Simple!
And of course, I was unable to cycle through this shit-hole of an alleyway this morning.
GRRRRRRR!!!
This was done for my Mexican Art History class (I got an A!). It is part of a retablo in a Franciscan Convent in Mexico, showing the horrors of Hell. This part seemed more yummy than horrific. I hang it on the wall during Halloween.
La Burn Energy Shot a le pire goût jamais enregistré pour une "boisson" du genre. Mais elle semble efficace.
I created a new area of Hell just past the Bloodbath. Tidbits of newness all over, fresh paint, bodies and a little ice.
