this sewing machine music box can be found pretty easily on aliexpress or amazon... i finally got one after intending to for a long time.

the details are really great and it does have the feel of the old singer ones, albeit a cheapy plastic version, but for almost 1/6 i am not complaining!

had a lot of fun (no, really) taking it apart to remove the music box and cut away a part of the front underside that was only there to hide the music box.

used nails and heatmold plastic to make it taller and even somewhat height-adjustable so that it can hopefully work for various 1/6 dolls.

ENG: On Saturday the 15.06.2019 the "Long Night of Sciences" was in Berlin again and this time I went to the Technical University at the Straße des 17. Juni. Of course not only because of the architecture, but also because of the many interesting experiments.

Creative upside down.

The TUBerlin "Auditorium Maximum" Lecture Hall 105 is the largest hall of the Technical University and also has a small special feature. These are not only the 1192 seats in the lower and upper tier but also an interactive equipment. For example, a wheelchair-friendly, height-adjustable speaker/multimedia desk with touch panel control and a 12-metre-wide, motorised screen for two data and video projector projections.

GER: Am Samstag dem 15.06.2019 war in Berlin mal wieder die „Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften“ und mich hat es dieses mal in die Technische Universität an der Straße des 17. Juni verschlagen. Natürlich nicht nur wegen der Architektur, auch wegen der vielen interessanten Experimente.

the green parasol received today from amazon. very happy with it, though like it said on the feedback it would probably be no good in a strong wind and i agree. it's a slightly darker green than shown on the photo. pudding was happy to lay under it, but grumps, lower left hand corner, was not so sure. he'll get used to it :)

This is the new beast - ready for anything. It is a four wheel drive Toyota Landcruiser LC80. It is in reality a 1/10th scale (more like 1/8th) model radio control rock crawler. It is surprisingly large, measuring in at around 2 feet long! The detailing is excellent for such a car. Underneath, it is all wheel drive with lots of metal running gear and driveshafts, and comes complete with long travel, fully height adjustable suspension with oil filled shock absorbers, and wonderfully soft grippy tyres. It does feature full headlights, indicators and roof mounted driving lights, but stangely, no tail-lights (an east thing to fix). Needless to say, it attracts a lot of attention from my fellow residents in the retirement village - mainly because I am out there at every opportunity. It is an absolute hoot to drive, and is definitely the funnest thing I have bought in ages! (I'm sure funnest is a word!)

Finally gave in and bought the Leofoto pan and tilt tripod head after a few years of using one I made myself - worked a treat - just wasn't fussed with it's idiosyncrasies these days.

I was raised in tougher times when if you wanted something and couldn't afford it then you either went without or had a go at one yourself.

I'd been learning CNC machining at the time so it was a great exercise to design and manufacture my own (when your going to hang a few bobs worth of gear off something you've made you have to really 'focus' on making it work. 😉

Anyhow fitted the new head up to my tripods bowl and with the sky looking promising I ducked out after dinner just to get my hands 'used to driving' it (far easier in daylight than in the dark @430am with waves crashing around you),

Turns out it's a rather nice bit of kit .. the controls make sense and the damping is brilliant. I no longer need an L bracket with the OM-1 as it's so light I can tilt the head to 90degrees and use the panning adjustment as a height adjustment for the camera .. will be a time saver in the dark I'm sure.

So the shot .. simple composition .. the lake was being exceptionally nice by glassing up and the sky doing it's thing. That blue ring in the cloud fit quite nicely into the reflection I thought..

- Designed by Flaminio Bertoni as the TPV (Toute Petite Voiture: 1938) what later became the 2 CV (1948), restyled by André Lefèbvre, included headlamp beam height adjustment.

- The flat-twin air-cooled engine was designed by Walter Becchia, while the ingenious suspension was designed by Marcel Chinon.

- Only one colour was initially offered when the car came on the scene in 1948, it was grey. A second colour (blue) was offered since 1959 and then in 1960 yellow was added.

- The engine did not even include a distributor; instead, there was a coil that fired the spark plugs and only speed-controlled ignition timing: the “wasted spark ignition system”.

- The cenrtifugal clutch (“Trafficlutch”) is designed for city use. You can drive off in 1st or 2nd gear. The AZ is now driving like an automatic.

When I first started shooting with the WeMacro rail, I was using the only tripod I had. My failure to fully tighten all the legs after a height adjustment led to failed stacks like this one, and I soon realized I was going to have to upgrade to a larger, more stable tripod.

I've always believed in making lemonade out of lemons so almost anytime I have a "failed" shot, I save them and then load it into an editor and play around to see if there is anything that can be salvaged. Quite often I am surprised, and often pleased by the results.

Although I don't always keep the end project, I find it an interesting exercise to see what can be made out of something that I initially deemed a "failure"....

Epson V600 scan; tiff file. I think that was 6000dpi. The contrast is much smoother than the lab jpg. The colors are more subtle; the overall mood is much more what I envisioned. Overall sharpness is kinda soft. This was before I got the Betterscanning holders (can be height adjusted for better focus, and have anti-newton glass to prevent sag). And the dust! Still, this warrents further investigation.

The Jordan spreader is not self-propelled; a locomotive must push it. It has two purposes. During the summer, the Jordan spreader is used to push ballast and dress up the track roadbed. But during the winter, the Jordan spreader actually comes into its own by pushing snow and keeping the line open. It is used for spreading ballast along the side of the track and for clearing track-side brush which increases drainage for a better roadbed.

The spreader also plows snow from the right-of-way. A locomotive would push the spreader and provide compressed air supply to run it. A spreader is a type of maintenance equipment designed to spread or shape ballast profiles. The spreader spreads gravel along the railroad ties. The various ploughs, wings and blades of specific spreaders allow them to remove snow, build banks, clean and dig ditches, evenly distribute gravel, as well as trim embankments of brush along the side of the track. Spreaders quickly proved themselves as an extremely economical tool for maintaining trackside drainage ditches and spreading fill dumped beside the track.

The operation of the wings was once performed by compressed air, and later hydraulics. Besides the MoW-operation spreaders are also used in open cast mines to clean the tracks from overburden tipped from dump cars. The Jordan spreader was the creation of Oswald F. Jordan, a Canadian road master who worked in the Niagara, Ontario area on the Canada Southern Railway, later a subsidiary of the New York Central Railroad. He supervised a crew at the St. Thomas Canada Southern shop in the early 1890s.

Jordan's first patent, filed in 1890 and listing Robert Potts as co-inventor, covered a single-blade mechanism with the blade height adjustable with a hand crank and gearing.

Jordan formed his own company, O.F. Jordan Company, in 1898 and continued construction of Jordan Spreaders. By 1906, the company had moved to Chicago, Jordan was a U.S. Citizen, and the spreader was a far more sophisticated device, with blades on both sides of the car, pneumatic power for raising and lowering each blade, and considerably more rugged construction.

By 1909, the spreader was being built on a steel-framed car body instead of the wood used in earlier models, and a plow was mounted on the front, with an extension in front of that for shifting material across the track from side to side. Shortly after this, Jordan added a pneumatic system for rapidly and automatically extending and retracting the side blades.] At this point, the primary purpose of the Jordan spreader was spreading ballast along the tracks.

- In French "DS" is called as "déesse" which means "goddess". This is also the pet name: "goddess of the way".

- The technique of DS is developed under the leadership of André Lefebvre.

- For that time very spectacular carriage design was from the Italian chief designer of Citroën, Flaminio Bertoni, who also modeled the Traction Avant, the Deux Chevaux and the Ami.

- The DS featured intense roadholding, braking and handling, and hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension system.

- Pallas models (after Greek goddess Pallas) has a luxury upgrade, including comfort features such as better noise insulation, a driver's seat with height adjustment, a more luxurious upholstery and external trim.

- It has a "hydraulique" four-speed semi-automatic gearbox and spring spacer clutch (operated by a hydraulic controller), a Bosch indirect electronic fuel injection system, a 63 liter fuel tank and front wheel drive.

- While the DS was popular in Europe, it didn't sell well in the United States. Only about 38,000 were sold between 1956 and 1972. It did't have the basic features that American buyers expected to find on such a vehicle: fully automatic transmission, air conditioning, power windows, and a powerful engine.

- It is ironic that the fully automatic transmission DS was never sold in the US market.

This is the test version for the RWBY team, there are still many details to be modified, such as the character height adjustment or some accessories. The base of Weiss, Blake, and Yang will be modified in the near future. And I will take more photos for each characters :D. This is just a preview for the team.

Special:

- In French "DS" is called as "déesse" which means "goddess". This is also the pet name: "goddess of the way".

- The technique of DS is developed under the leadership of André Lefebvre.

- For that time very spectacular carriage design was from the Italian chief designer of Citroën, Flaminio Bertoni, who also modeled the Traction Avant, the Deux Chevaux and the Ami.

- The DS featured intense roadholding, braking and handling, and hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension system.

- Pallas models (after Greek goddess Pallas) has a luxury upgrade, including comfort features such as better noise insulation, a driver's seat with height adjustment, a more luxurious upholstery and external trim.

- It has a "hydraulique" four-speed semi-automatic gearbox and spring spacer clutch (operated by a hydraulic controller), a Bosch indirect electronic fuel injection system, a 63 liter fuel tank and front wheel drive.

- The chassis with steel body has 123 inch wheelbase, a hydropneumatic suspension system with anti-roll bars, a glass fiber reinforced plastic roof or an aluminum roof with a factory-fitted sunroof, Michelin X AS 180 HR 380 tires, disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.

- A Borg-Warner 35 automatic gearbox, a five-speed manual gearbox and leather upholstery were optional.

- 1968 was the first year of aerodynamic glass enclosing the headlamps on the DS also the first year that feature was outlawed in the US.

- While the DS was popular in Europe, it didn't sell well in the United States. Only about 38,000 were sold between 1956 and 1972. It did't have the basic features that American buyers expected to find on such a vehicle: fully automatic transmission, air conditioning, power windows, and a powerful engine.

- It is ironic that the fully automatic transmission DS was never sold in the US market.

- Production of the “Goddess” ended on April 24, 1975.

this sewing machine music box can be found pretty easily on aliexpress or amazon... i finally got one after intending to for a long time.

the details are really great and it does have the feel of the old singer ones, albeit a cheapy plastic version, but for almost 1/6 i am not complaining!

had a lot of fun (no, really) taking it apart to remove the music box and cut away a part of the front underside that was only there to hide the music box.

used nails and heatmold plastic to make it taller and even somewhat height-adjustable so that it can hopefully work for various 1/6 dolls.
