Sunflowers and a heart: just have to dedicate this image to Jan :)
The flowers were a birthday present from Bettina and Werner...
for peace and light into 2025
'How do you do it?' said night.
'How do you wake and shine?'
'I keep it simple.' said light.
'One day at a time'.

It's a Valentine Day !!
And, let true love and trust find peace in expression and submission in this decaying world.
The image of this beautiful Common Wanderer was taken in Diglipur, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India
No photo trickery, this is how it turned out. Naturally I had to take a pic, as you do. Uploading to celebrate National Egg Day nationaldaycalendar.com/national-egg-day-june-3rd/
A heart-shaped volcanic talus slope in the mountains of the Similkameen District, near Tulameen, BC, Canada
The Similkameen is one of several historical regions of British Columbia whose foundations and settlement lay in the days of the Colony of British Columbia, and was one of the first areas of the province prospected as well as farmed and ranched. The area has seen a number of famous gold strikes and large mining operations, notably the Tulameen Gold Rush of the 1880s and 1890s and the Nickel Plate Mine at Hedley, but also including coal at Blakeburn and Coalmont, and copper at Allenby and Copper Mountain, all of these locations in the vicinity of Princeton.
A clover must have three leaves to be considered a shamrock.
If the clover has more or less, then it is not a shamrock. Hence, all shamrocks are clovers, but not all clovers are shamrocks. Confusing? ;)

Teaching at 10 this morning so decided to get up at 6 and if there was no mist I'd take a cycle ride down to Ham Wall - only 3 miles to the first viewing platform from where I live.
Lots on offer highlights of which were 2 cracking male Garganey in front of the Tor View hide, they came and went throughout the morning, booming bitterns and a fly-by bittern which would have been perfect for photographers had we all been facing east rather than west (Thalia and Brian nice to see you both on such a lovely morning).
The time comes when I have to cycle back to get ready for class and just as I start on the main track a Barn Owl floats over the path. I manage to get a couple of distant shots (effective in the setting though) and when it's out of sight I carry on. Decided to stop at the 2nd viewing platform as you never know and a couple of alarm calls gave the bird away heading along the canal towards me. What a delight to see - 9.15am and 20 metres or so away. There are some wildlife moments when I literally can't believe my luck and it's a truly exciting moment - this was one.
Oh and doing some gardening work this afternoon I saw a Holly Blue and an Orange-tip - get in!
Can go Large in Lightbox - anymore than that and it loses quality.
Looking about for opportunities, this one was actually at my feet. I just wasn't listening when it was crying, "look down here". How many times I have told myself the world is three dimensional. Stop looking straight ahead, look up, look down. Or, in this case, look no farther than your own two feet.
This image struck me as being so very simple and standing out as a metaphor for so many reasons. Alone from the rest, different from the rest, older than the rest. Take your pick, it stood out from the rest.
So my advise is to remember that the world is three dimensional and sometimes a good shot is found at your own two feet. A great and celebrated photographer named Freeman Patterson said, "If you do not see what is around you every day, what will you see when you go to Tangiers?"

Taken in North Devon. After two days and nights of lousy weather I thought this owl might show up early and he didn't disappoint.

I bought some of these little stone hearts as stocking fillers and with a view to using them as photo props first. They have different sentiments on them...who knows, I may even get another photo of them before I give them away ;)

This Barn Owl must have chicks because it was out hunting on the Somerset Levels at 10:45 this morning.

The minute I heard my first love story,
I started looking for you, not knowing
How blind that was.
Lovers don't finally meet somewhere.
They're in each other all along.

48/52: Project 52 - On the Christmas tree
I bought these miniature candy canes as a festive photo prop but because of the turn of events, hadn't got round to using them. So I thought I'd put a couple on the tree to make a heart shaped ornament for this theme.
I will have to post several photos over the next few days in order to complete challenges for the year. So, apologies in advance if I flood your feed.
Thank you all so much for your support and friendships throughout another Flickr year. I hope to be more active with comments in 2018 and will do my best. It will however be another action packed year...more news to come on that later.
