April 2022: A month in 30 pictures

Once again desperately trying to find something for a photo and I remembered these recycled sari silk ribbons I bought a few years ago...I loved the vibrant colours and was going to do something amazing with them, no doubt ;) Perhaps I'll get round to doing something other than photography with them now...watch this space...maybe.

Here we have my cat's nose - if you squint you can see it's heart shaped : ) She melted my heart when she was first handed to me as the runt of a litter of five - she fitted on the palm of my hand where she instantly curled up and fell asleep. Her presence makes me feel better no matter what. And I think she quite likes me too.

The perfect song to go with this is of course 'Lovecats' by The Cure, which I often sing to my cat.

This is my first violet, I think, or garden pansy. Might be neither, but I have never taken a photo of this type of flower. The vibrant yellow called to me.

Naturally I tried to move in within about 5cm / 2in on manual focus.

For Macro Mondays 'Love'

Oak trees and acorns have a special significance for my husband and me. Shortly after meeting (27 years ago!) we spent a happy and memorable summer afternoon freeing a young tree on the South Downs in Sussex from choking bindweed. That tree now towers over us and makes us smile each time we pass it on a walk.

We had oak leaves decorating our wedding cake and this is a small amber acorn pendant that we gave to our daughter (Amber) on her 21st birthday. It gives me so much joy that she often wears it!

I photographed it on a tiny prayer book of my mother's from the 1940s (she loved oak trees too, and surely passed this onto me).

I'm sure there will be many other heart-shaped bokeh photos this week, but it's the first time that I've played with this technique and it was such fun! I oohed and aahed as I realised even the pendant chain and side of the book had tiny hearts on them!

Smile on Saturday - Red on white background

The little hearts are from my craft stash and the large one hangs in my bathroom. I do have quite a lot of hearts dotted around my house.

My back is improving slowly, once again, but I am continuing with the iPhone, which has proved invaluable, until I feel able to pick up the big camera again.
