So, the Charmings think their love is strong enough to defeat me?

Well, there's one thing they don't know

No, no, love doesn't stand a chance!

This is my third tribute (here's the second) to one of my all-time favorite TV series - "Once Upon a Time", a story about a modern city where everyone actually is a fairytale character, with a lot of twists, cliffhangers, magic and drama. I'm still hoping to build tributes to some other characters as well, but it takes a lot of time.

Also this is the third and final tribute to the musical episode, in which Snow White's wish upon a star accidentally made everyone in the Enchanted Forest to sing. Actually this is my personal favorite song from the episode, though I think "Wicked always wins" is better (because it sounds just like innocent "I want" song from good girl's POV at some prom musical, but the lyrics are about cruel revenge over Witch's sister). Lana Parrilla's voice is so EPIC here! True Evil Queen! All hail the Queen!

So, let me introduce you my favorite character from the series - Regina Mills, mayor of Storybrooke and The Evil Queen in the Enchanted Forest! :D I'm absolutely a fan of all of her versions of herself - I rooted for her when she was a villainess (well, I'm not a fan of Snow and Prince Charming, I respect them as Emma's parents and overall good people, but for me they are like walking boring love stories cliché), and I equally rooted for her when she joined the heroes and took a long path to redeem herself.

SPOILER ALERT!

I'm absolutely delighted that her happy ending was to be crowned as The Good Queen of the United Realms, and to find a chosen family of her friends (her adopted son Henry, Emma, Snow White, her sister Zelena, etc). Someone would say what about Robin Hood? Well, I'm not a fan of him, but okay, whatever makes my Queen happy. Yes, I was sad for her, when he died, because she was heartbroken, but I'm glad in the end he didn't became the plot "solution" to her problem, because her problem was that she hated herself, and she needed to accept herself, which she finally did, but that's the story for another time.

Well, speaking of endings... I'm thinking a lot about how the 7th season is literally a reboot of 1st season, with a story of the child who went to their another parent's house to ask that parent to come with them to break a Dark Curse cast upon city, with that parent agreeing to come with the child to that city and so meeting the parent who's actually raising that child. Both seasons have a scene where the child is under a sleeping curse and the another parent is trying to break the curse with True Love's kiss. On the other note, both season's Dark Curses are broken by True Love's kiss between a parent and a child from the 1st season, with it being from the another parent to the child in the 1st season and from the (now grown-up) child to the raising parent in the 7th season. Which shows that the two-parents-and-child story from the 1st season was written in the stars as well as the two-parents-and-child story from the 7th season, though it's a two different families and the first one is not entirely blood related. So, if the 7th season parallels 1st season, then little Henry (the child) is Lucy, Emma (the another parent) is adult Henry and Regina (the raising parent) is Jacinda aka Cinderella. It's simple logic. Just saying. :)

Okay, back to the song. For the context, it's a flashback from the past, where then-evil Queen is plotting to take the revenge on her stepdaughter Snow White, because when Snow was a kid she ratted (with good intentions) young Regina's plan to run away with her boyfriend Daniel (stable's boy) to Regina's mother Cora, and Cora killed Daniel in front of Regina, so Regina had to marry King Leopold instead (as Cora plotted), and that's why she started to hate Snow, who is also his daughter from his first wife. In this episode Snow made a wish upon a star to help her unborn daughter Emma to have a chance of a happy ending, the wish was granted by a Blue Fairy, and because of that wish everyone in the Enchanted Forest started to sing instead of speaking, and Snow and Charming thought that they can defeat the Evil Queen with the power of the song. So the Queen realised she have to do something, or her Dark Curse (the one which will send everyone to Storybrooke later and make them forget who they are) might not succeed, so she decided to steal the songs from everyone's heart (which she did with the help of the box she found in her vault, which was actually placed here by Zelena, who wanted to take revenge on Regina by making her to achieve her goal and then Zelena would appear to ruin it with revealing that actually it was Zelena who did it). Sounds evil, but actually by doing so she kind of SAVED everyone in the future, because the power of the song was never meant to defeat her, Blue Fairy needed Queen to steal the whole kingdom's power of the song so Blue could place it in Emma's heart to help Emma win the Final Battle against the very powerful villain in the distant future. That's what I call great writing!

I enjoy the song, because it's such a mood (yeah, I was supposed to post it on the day it was taken but I was too tired so I couldn't finish writing the description in time). :D

Speaking of the picture, Queen's clothes in the episode were dark gold, but Lego never released anything even remotely close. In some episodes her clothes were dark red and I wanted to use that red skirt as coat's tail like the one in the musical episode, so I made the entire outfit red. Yes, a year later I've finally decided which scenes I want to use for another tributes (just a few more and that would be a wrap on the project unless one day I would find time and ideas for more characters: I decided that I better skip the characters I'm not a fan of, so I could use that time to watch another TV series and possibly make tributes to it), so I suppose to recreate Evil Queen's iconic black dress look for another picture, so she would look more recognizable.

So, Amy Winehouse died today.

This is my tribute.

If any of you followed my stream and posts about a year ago, you'll know that I was going through a really hard time emotionally, with lots of questions about who I was and who I wanted to be. To be honest, those still aren't resolved, but I do feel much better equipped to deal with the in between. So now that I'm not a heartbroken mess, it brings into stark focus the fact that at this point in my life I am choosing how the rest of it will go. I'm done with my second year of college and things have only gotten more fuzzy. For the past month or so I've really been stuck in the haze of it all... I feel like all the passion has been sucked out of my life. I get excited about things, but I never get... enflamed? Thrilled? Deeply engaged? I don't know. But it's very difficult.

So. Fast forward to this morning. I roll over, grab my laptop, and the first thing on my news feed is that Amy Winehouse is dead - and I think to myself, is this some sort of joke? Someone had to have made a satire. There's no way she didn't make it. There's no way she's not gonna win.

Because, see, I've been a fan of hers for years - since I was sixteen, I think. Unfortunately all that anyone ever heard about her, if they bothered to hear about her at all, were the interesting bits like drug addiction and abusive relationships. Most people missed out on the fact that she was an absolutely beautiful woman inside and out, with a way of putting her thoughts into the most elegantly honest songs. She never stopped being her. She was fighting a battle that millions of other people are, and I desperately wanted her to win.

I was stunned by the news - not surprised, just taken aback. I don't think anyone could be surprised. Then I realized something odd: although I did think it was really a shame that she would no longer do anything more, no albums, no tours, I wasn't really sad. I don't know if there was a way for her to ever be happy here, in this world - something that I also wonder often. Sometimes people are born that just don't fit into the mold. I'd like to believe that wherever she is now, she's happy. Maybe now she has some peace.

There's a song that's been gaining popularity on the radio lately called "If I Die Young," and towards the end of the last verse the singer says, "funny when you're dead how people start listening." I guess that sounds pretty negative, but there's a positive version of it, I promise. I went on a drive after I heard the news to take some pictures and listen to her albums, and the clarity of everything just hit me. It was like someone dropped me in a giant church bell and it was ringing with the sense that it was just fine. So, um, I guess everything is going to be okay. It always seems to be in the end.

Oh, and I'd just like to note that this was the only take of this - I got it on the first shot. And this is SOOC. I don't claim to know much about the supernatural, but it was a funny thing.

Yesterday I went to check on my cat colony. Unfortunately "Bonita" is still missing and I am now fearing the worst. I am heartbroken over it.

It had been awhile so I thought I'd better check on Traci and the new pup that lives a mile away from the cat colony.

Imagine my horror and anger to find them in the storage barn crying their hearts out. [ See below].

The main shot was taken last month. It was impossible to take pics of Traci & the pup after I freed them, as they had to "relieve" themselves, find a puddle to drink from as they were so thirsty and were running non-stop w/ excitement to see me.

I'm not sure if I can talk the family into letting me take them away and place w/ a dog rescue group but am going to try. This is unacceptable.

Update: March 30, 2013:

I drove by the property where Tracy and their other dog lives today and was shocked to see that the trailer was vacated. No people. No Tracy. They've moved. I wish her well.

My mom passed away very unexpectedly, in June, at the age of 63. My fiance and I have moved back to my home town to help take care of my grandma. Yay packing and and unpacking Legos. This is a small tribute, on my new Lego shelf, to my mom. she was a retired Captain from the local sheriff's department. she spent 40 years in law enforcement. A pioneer in many respect, she was one among a hand full of the first female deputies in the state of Florida. She remained, always, deeply committed to her community and the belief that love and kindness was the best way to police the community. she did so much with her life. I have been sick and heartbroken for months. I expect to never fully recover from this loss

It's taken a while for me to post this here. I'm not sure why. I think maybe it's because this is where I shared most of my experiences. When she died, I was so heartbroken, I found it almost impossible to write anything, finding the right words seemed beyond me. Now, weeks later, it's still beyond me. She's been gone for 3 months and I still can't say all the things I want to say. Except that I miss her. And, I'll always love her.

I would also like to say thank you to those of you who have been so supportive, those who sent cards, listened to me crying on the phone, hugged me when I needed it and just let me be sad when I needed to be sad. And, thanks for sharing your stories and experiences. x

I wrote this shortly after she died.

Our girl is gone.

She left us on Monday 30th July. I've been trying to make this post since then, but it's so difficult to articulate everything I want to say. Everybody told me, when it's time, you'll know. When Jess is ready to go, she'll let you know. I took her for a walk in the forest on the Thursday before she died, she stopped and just gave me a look, a look I hadn't seen before, she looked at me... She looked at everything, at the sky, the treetops, all around her, then, just as normal she was off running. I can't describe it, but I knew it was going to be our last weekend together.

Cancer is such a fucking horrible disease, it creeped up on her, at first there were no signs, then there were some, then in what seemed like hours it took over her body. Even short bursts of play exhausted her, she lost interest in going for walks and she was restless at night. It broke our hearts to watch her lose herself.

I know cancer, and I know pain and more than anything else, I knew I didn't want her to suffer. Our vet had gave us more pain relief to keep her comfortable and a steroid to help pick her up a little. We were liberal with it, and she improved, but we knew the time was close. I had read somewhere that dogs dream of the last activity they do, it was so important to us, her dreams would be filled with the things she loved most and the love we felt for her. Her dreams will forever be of swimming in the sea, the sand in her toes, the breeze blowing through her fur and flapping her crazy ears, finding tennis balls in the bushes, of our home, and of us, Cathal & I and how much we absolutely adored her. She had a good last day. We wanted it that way, we didn't want her final hours to be filled with pain, fear and disorienting experiences.

As soon as we walked into the Vets surgery, I felt the most sobering feeling I have ever felt, Jess was my only focus, I don't think I spoke a word, except to tell her what a good Jess she was and we loved her. She fell asleep in our arms, she felt just like a little puppy. And now she's gone.

The emptiness is horrible... Her memory is everywhere, every corner of our house, my car, Cathals van, the forest, the sea, the fields of long grass, my head, my heart.
