I am heartbroken :( someone most likely left this poor little guy outside at the county dump. He was laying in the middle of the road outside of Strathmore on the 240 and 817 right next to the dump and not even moving for traffic. Magpies were literally sitting next to him waiting for him to die. He hadn't been hit, but I stopped because I didn't know what was in the middle of the road. I thought it was a dead animal and was going to move it. He seen me and got up and walked to me. He had no idea what to do out there in the middle of no where. Definitely NOT a wild cat or a farm cat. Nothing around there but a dump and a closed down feedlot on the other side of the road. A friend of mine drove by there 10-15 minutes earlier and he wasn't there. He is EMACIATED. Probably a 1 out of 5 on the weight scale. It's insanely sad, this poor little guy had given up. I took him to the vet and he has a tattoo in his ear. They read it and I guess they tried to trace down and contact the owners with no success. They took my number down and I took him home. I asked the vet if they could just look at him because he is so skinny, and they wouldn't do it without the full exam fee. Not even just a vet tech to make sure he didn't need some kind of emergency care. If I did that I took responsibility for the cat. I am no where near in a position financially to do that right now. They gave me two numbers. One for the rescue he was originally adopted out with and one for the town of Strathmore animal control. I called both and haven't heard back from either of them. So I went and got him cat food and litter and took him home. If I could afford him and didn't have two dogs that are bad with cats, I would keep him and make sure that nothing like that EVER happens to him again. He's clearly been at a rescue already. He's obviously been through the ringer, I just wish there was more I could do to help. My heart is breaking for him. I have good dog and cat dewormer that I got for my dogs, but I'm scared to deworm him wrong and shock his system because he is probably full of worms :( so if anyone has advice on that please let me know. It's strongid t. Anyways, I don't get why people let things get to that point :( surrender your animal if you can't care for it. If i lived on a farm I'd have a no questions asked rescue just to avoid these types of situations. Anyways, I'm heart broken.

AKA, 'I dropped my rather heartbroken sister off at the airport and listened to her whine for hours about the injustice of the universe, and I even bought her a friand to shut her up for little bit, and all I got was this stinkin' coffee.' At least I think that was what she was thinking.
