I bought this heart-shaped gem in a shop at a mall in Berlin 5 years ago (it was in one piece at that time). I was supposed to give it to a certain girl, but I never got around to do it as I had left my balls at home (figurately speaking). Perhaps it was how it was meant to be, as from what I've heard she's happily married and working as a photographer now.
Anyways.. I've never had the "pleasure" of getting my heart broken as the picture implies. Ripped out and slowly torn apart yes, but not broken. However I didn't have any ideas of how to portrait how I feel now so I went with the broken-theme.

I purchased Christmas pajamas for all three of my dogs last week with the plan to take a group photo of them in the PJs. Sadly, Chico's breathing took a turn for the worse Friday night, and I had to let him go yesterday so he will never get to wear these pajamas. It's never easy to lose a dog, but this one has hit particularly hard. He was a senior, but I thought I had a few more years with him. I'm beyond broken hearted. It doesn't feel real.

What’s good Ghetto Frida? What did the cops get you for this time?
Aw shit, I’m not going to even lie, I was faded as fuck. I was rocking the 40 oz. and off a fistful of thizz pills. Tina Modotti dared my ass to take Diego’s car and ghostride it down Crenshaw. I was dancing next to the whip when the police popped up behind me and put their hands on me. I started swinging and dropped one of them before they maced me and put me in cuffs. I think there was a COPS camera crew with them.
Let’s get down to business. When did you decide to start calling yourself Ghetto Frida? What was the turning point?
I was in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Diego and I have some pieces in their permanent collection. I was watching this young kid who was looking at one of my paintings, I walked up to him and asked him who his favorite artist was. He said, “My favorite artist? 50 Cent is my favorite artist.” When I asked him why he replied, “When he was in the ghetto, 50 Cent was shot 9 times and survived!”
This kid didn’t know who I was but he knew 50 Cent ‘cause he had been shot 9 times. I thought to myself. “Being shot ain’t shit, the pain of my streetcar accident is on a whole other level. Why doesn’t he know who I am?” I knew I had to do something to make myself relevant, to change my image, and reconnect with the people. I’ve been steady mobbin’ ever since.
Not everyone has supported your transition into Ghetto Frida. Matthew Barney was very outspoken in criticizing you for the move.
And look what happened to him. Me and Trotsky rolled onto the set of the latest Cremaster movie and broke him off a piece of my response. I handed out one of the illest chin checks you’ll ever see that day; it was sick. I felt a little bad because the dude obviously couldn’t scrap, but you know the name of the game when you call out Ghetto Frida, I’m fo’ real.
How do you define your ghettoness? You tend to handle your biz on the violent tip, why not call yourself Gangster Frida?
Being gangster is about what you do for money and I don’t do this shit for money. On the real, I’ve gotten offers to create my own clothing line, my own shoe line, but I don’t get down like that. I’m tired of these so-called street artists making $80.00 t-shirts and claiming that they’re still down with the block. The streets is poor and it ain’t no fun if the homies can’t have none. Those fools need to sit the fuck down and get their shit straight before I revoke their ghetto passes. You have your own line of shirts from Upper Playground, shoes by Reebok, or a limited edition vinyl toy from Japan? That ain’t shit to me. Ghetto Frida’s not jockin’ no clothing companies, gallery owners, or art dealers. You want that noise? Go hit up the latest issue of Juxtapoz and see who’s on their nutsack this month.
Damn! Get out the pooper scooper because Ghetto Frida is talkin’ shit!
That’s right, talkin’ that shit ‘cause I back it up! Ain’t no other artist that’s true to the game like Ghetto Frida. So how can I take money from my peoples like that?

They story about Meredith Emerson has been weighing heavily on my mind for the past week. It's such a sad and tragic story. I can't even imagine how heartbroken her family and friends must be feeling.
As a female who loves both the outdoors and solitude, I've often wondered if it's safe for me to be out there alone. Right now, I'll go lots of places by myself - but I stick to the roads and the populated areas. Beyond a couple very short strolls down well-traveled fire roads, I've never really hiked by myself. I put my personal safety before the luxury of real solitude.
But lots of times when I've been out hiking with family or friends, we'll encounter a lone hiker... almost always male. I can't help but feel a little jealous that they get to enjoy that solitude without worrying that some psychotic man is going to kidnap and murder them. It's always felt unfair to me that, as a female, solitude comes with the price of added danger. I know that hiking alone is not really safe for anyone (you could get injured, lost, etc), but as a woman I think it carries even more peril. And as sad as it makes me, maybe it's just not worth the risk.

In the ruined chapel at St.Declan's Well there is a makeshift grotto where people have left memorial cards of deceased loved ones and light candles and say prayers. A simple but poignant tribute. I found this particular one quite sad as it obviously was a young boy just past his seventh birthday and the photos were all of a happy child,
I found the following information on the internet.
O’Donovan Luke (Ballymacoda) on April 18th 2014 in the tender care of the staff of I.T.U., Cork University Hospital following a tragic accident. Precious son of Jo (nee Sexton) and Stephen. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his heartbroken parents, Nan Sarah, uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.
After years of visiting him at Anastacia's, I realized that I would be absolutely heartbroken if this marionette ever sold. So now he's mine. ❤️❤️❤️ I'm going to make some very small repairs so that he can hang on his own strings. I might also stitch up his suit and make him some arms to wear since his are missing (He has a gorgeous wooden body, I would not permanently attach them.) He's pretty fantastic already, of course. Look at his controls! He's going to be the patron saint of my studio.

Ever stayed up all night on the phone, with who? - What was I saying about Chris and I on the phone? I guess the latest was between 7 in the evening and half past 3 in the morning.

Do you have a little sister? - No. A sixteen year old brother.
Have you hugged someone within the last week? - I've been at a charity called Working Together, where the members are so friendly they just hug me all the time!
What were you doing at midnight last night? Saying goodnight to Chris. I stayed at his :D
