We are still heartbroken over the loss of our beagle Penny. Have been digging through all the photo's we took of her over the years and found this nice one that Bethany took of Penny and me at the Upper Falls in Letchworth Park on March 27, 2010.

The pain in our heart must be one of the pains we can't really handle 'cause it's not physical but emotional.

This pain comes from all those feelings we want to share but it's not possible for all kinds of reasons.

Isn't it sad that all those beautiful feelings eventually makes us ache?

Greta

Rhinestone collections all the time

I wonder what Greta would say

Another lady, another time

Another heartbroken state of mind

Alone in her chambers... she dreams of her home

Outside, she's got a movie star view

Outcries, well where will the kings go

Where will the kings go now?

She's got her eyes wide open

And she's ready to stare you down

She says in words unspoken, she's from out of town

Well some cry, well I really don't dance down

Stormy weather, it cuts like a knife

She's got her bags packed

And she's off to the valley where the

Sun meets the sea

You understand that

She wants to live by the ocean

And no one is pleased

She gets a house in the mountains

The next day, the next day she leaves the station

Do you really want to change her (do you really want to change her)

Or is it your right?

Ooh alone in her chambers she dreams of her home

In a very real way, she's the purest art form

I bet she said, just how many art lovers can one

Get to know?

She doesn't have an hour

She doesn't have five minutes

She's got to go!

She's got her bags packed

And she's off to the valley where the

Sun meets the sea

You understand that

She wants to live by the ocean

And no one is pleased

She gets a house in the mountains

The next day

The next day she leaves the station

I wonder what Greta would say

Well I wonder what Greta would say

I wonder what Greta would say

Ooh, she's got a movie star view

Oh well where will the kings go

Where will the kings go now?

Say, Greta

Say, Greta

Songwriters: Stevie Nicks / Michael W. Campbell

Greta, my now 4-and-a-half-year-old Boston Terrier is doing great these days. To be honest, she needs to stop aging. I can't imagine my life without her.... she has gotten me through some of the most challenging times of my life.

She truly has come a very long way and I am extremely proud of her. She is a true inspiration.

I didn't name Greta after this song, I actually named her for a werewolf character in the Iron Druid Chronicles, a book series by Kevin Hearne. www.https://kevinhearne.com/

"Greta" was released on the Stevie Knick album Street Angel in 1994 www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1Ybl2XulDk

Love isn't when there are no fights in the relationship. Love is when once the fight ends, love is still there.

The security council’s ban on mass events till 31 August means that all the big summer events will be cancelled. In Ghent too many are heartbroken, It is the first time since World War I that the Ghent Festivities will not take place. The Festival of Ghent is without doubt the biggest and best-known street festival in Europe, attracting around 2 million visitors each year. “The Ghent Festivities are part of the city’s DNA. The cancellation of course hurts, but we are resilient. In 2021 we plan to party twice as hard” said Mathias De Clercq, the city’s mayor. Here are some memories of the sparkling “Gentse Feesten” from 2014. On display are people enjoying a performance of late Walter De Buck. It was one of his last public appearances before he passed away later that year. Walter De Buck was a singer, sculptor and founder of the modern “Gentse Feesten” – Sint-Jacobsplein, Ghent, Belgium.

According to legend, the Governor General of New France, Louis de Buade de Frontenac, was heartbroken when he discovered his wife was having an affair with the Sun King. He eventually forgave her, but left explicit instructions about the treatment of his body upon his death. After he died, Madame de Frontenac received a special delivery: her husband's heart in a lead box. So, be true to the one you love and Happy Valentine's Day!

Sadly for Colin, his girlfriend has traded him in for a newer model, sometimes life can be a challenge for troopers.

For this weeks MarcoMondays theme Emotional

One day in eighth grade, as school was letting out and I was walking to the pickup line, "Runnin' Down a Dream" was echoing down the hallway. My history teacher, Mr. West, had a giant boombox in his classroom that he would occasionally blast at the end of the day when he was in a good mood. Initially, during my childhood, hearing Tom Petty was a bit of a running joke for my family, given how frequently he would play on a variety of stations (including Classic Rewind, pictured) considering he was active for so many decades... but I grew to love his music nevertheless. Thanks to Mr. West's selection of music on his boombox, I distinctly remember that as a good day.

Yesterday (and the day before, and today) was not a good day.

May Mr. Petty, who passed away last night from cardiac arrest at 66; legendary Memphis wrestling commentator Lance Russell, who passed away this morning; and of course all of the victims of Sunday night's horrible Las Vegas shooting, rest in peace. May the hundreds injured in that attack as well recover completely and quickly. May the loved ones of all who were hurt or lost their lives - and Tom, and Lance - also find the time and means to heal. My thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out to everyone affected.

For those of you looking to escape reality and the news of these tragic losses, my regularly-scheduled uploads continue Wednesday (tomorrow) night with a teaser photo. Until then, I leave you with a collection of some of my favorite Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers songs.

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)

A necklace made for a good friend...cast silver and sculpie clay...my first sculpie peice...

Heartbroken, but can't shake all the old emotions.

my dear friends ... it is with a broken heart that I am posting this photo of my most beautiful boy ... Zak passed away this morning ... his death was not expected .. we are stunned and heartbroken ... what will we do without him here at our side ...

Dearest Zak - the house is so quiet without you - the place you used to lie is empty: the smiling face and loving eyes have gone - strong and brave, I feared nothing when you were with me - now, no one follows me along the woodland path - beloved comanion, do you miss me as much as I miss you? May God grant you blue skies and warm sun, until we meet again - all my love - Mommy xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Ugh... I'm heartbroken, again. This is the 3rd time in just a few weeks that I've done major damage to one of my dolls.

First it was chipping my poor Hannah's face and eyes while changing her chips

Then I dropped my Clove (Alice Chery Blossom Piggie) and her ear broke off and had to be glued back

And, today, when undressing Edyt so that she could get a hair wash and straighten, I discovered that these crappy pullip socks she'd been wearing -- for a few weeks -- not even all that long -- have permanently stained her legs...

Ugh, this stuff keeps happening to me.

Edyt says: "Mom, strike 3, you're out"

Seriously though, if anyone has any suggestions for cleaning her up, I'd appreciate it. I've tried a few things already... Some household type cleaners, the Mr. Clean Sponge, Even Sanding... No luck. Wah...

it's windy here today in new york.

really windy.

In making this miniature dollhouse scale (1:12) pine hutch, I applied five coats of paint, sanded, brushed, and damp washed each layer before applying the next one. The resultant color is deep green with bits of glitter to signify magical ability.

I make my hutches one at a time… from start to finish. There is no assembly line in my workshop. No elves either. For this reason, this is truly one-of a-kind. I keep no written “recipes” for the color or instructions for the items I create to put into/on my hutches. Pieces on this hutch are from nature or created at the time I was working on it from materials at hand at that time.

i found her when i was riding my bike today, August 11th, in the middle of nowhere, laying beside the road in the glaring sun. Since i was about 15 miles from home, my only option was to call Animal Control (the dog pound) to come pick her up. Meanwhile i flagged down all 3 vehicles that came by to try to get food for her. She is VERY thin and there were no puppies in sight despite the condition of her teats. I waited there with her until the "dog catcher" arrived. Who knows how long she had been there. She appeared dehydrated and weak.

I checked on her later at the pound was told since she is a pitbull the puppies were probably sold and the mother dumped to die. Look at the despicable environment she has at the "shelter". She had NO FOOD, NO WATER and NO BEDDING of any sort. A jagged piece of rusty metal is visible right above her head. I don't know what fate is worse for her. I went back again this evening and told the officer i would take her to the emergency vet tomorrow (Sunday) if she appears to be going down. He promised to call me with an update on her. But what will become of her? Why are people so mean to pitbulls?

Why you break my heart?

Every time we depart?

I thought you loved me

I thought you were my dove

When you go bye, bye, bye

I simply go why, why, why?

My heart crumples into dust

Out of all the one’s I lust you the most

My heart is torn

It can’t be re-born

This can’t be real

This wasn’t the deal

You were my bumble bee

Now I can’t even humble you

I remember when we first met

Now your saying to let go.

So what now?

This is how it end?

Why did you leave me?

Is there even a reason ?

We helped Jake cross the rainbow bridge this evening at 2135, after receiving a call from Dr W that he was getting weaker and would probably not survive the night.

The asthma, his weak heart, pulmonary edema and bleeding from the plavix were too hard for him to overcome.

I held him in my arms as Dr W helped him and he went peacefully....

Mom and I are devastated and heartbroken but Jake is now at peace...

Thank you all for your emails, well wishes, prayers and support.

They all meant a lot to me.

xo

(i will post a final series at a later time)

I am heartbroken.

UPDATE:

It is with heavy hearts that we share this update. The lack of improvement in Valor’s neurologic symptoms after a week of aggressive supportive care led us to the decision to humanely end Valor’s suffering before his condition deteriorated further. We learned yesterday afternoon that Valor had tested positive for West Nile virus; we had suspected that this was the cause of his symptoms. Infection with this virus is not always fatal in birds; however, after seven days of intensive supportive care, Valor remained slow to respond to stimuli and displayed no signs of improvement. He had to be force-fed as he showed no appetite and refused to hand-feed or self-feed. Valor was extremely lethargic and had head and body tremors—signs of advancing West Nile disease. Our professional assessment was that it was extremely unlikely that he would recover, even for placement at an educational facility. Subjecting him to further treatment, handling, and captivity and prolonging his suffering would have been inhumane and contrary to our principles as wildlife rehabilitators. A necropsy will be performed at another facility.

In the past five years, we’ve treated 300 Bald Eagles along with over 10,000 other wild birds that have relied on us for care. As professionals, we do our very best for each and every single patient, as we always have and will continue to do, and this includes Valor. We share the deep sorrow you feel for his loss and hope you know that your passion for native wildlife matters. It is so inspiring to see the community rally behind a wild animal in need; thank you to everyone who showed support for Valor and Tri-State. While this outcome was not what we wanted, there are thousands of success stories of animals receiving a second chance at life in the wild at our center and wildlife rehabilitation centers around the world—this is what motivates our staff and volunteers to continue caring for wildlife in need every day.
