The North side of Bodie. The big grey building in the distance is the Standard Stamp Mill. Just in front of it are the Kirkwood Stable and the jail.

HDR taken looking over Vilnius 2013

Sometimes I like to push things over the top (I mean creatively....).

In this case a lightning photographed August 30, 2015 05:30 AM in Flushing, a city in The Netherlands.

I've already posted this one as a normal jpg version , but personally I find this HDR-version much more fun.

Created from a single RAW.

The Venetian is a 40-story, $2.4 billion anchor for the 7 resort hotels which are under construction on the Cotai Strip in Macau. The 10,500,000-square-foot (980,000 m2) Venetian Macao is modeled on its sister casino resort – the The Venetian in Las Vegas – and is the largest single structure hotel building in Asia and the fourth-largest building in the world by area. Standard 3 exposure shots (-2..0..+2 EV) tonemapped in Photomatix then retouched in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Travel Diary Day 39

(My travel blog - strange-lands.com/daily/2012/08/20/cliffs-at-ngobaran-beach/)

Rachel could never be a criminal. When she’s passing through customs she’s always got a suspicious look on her face. She’s trying too hard to not look like a terrorist. Her face goes red and she’s got a weird, Joker-style smile.

We had four hours to kill before check in. The battery died on my laptop. I told her I’d look for a power outlet. When I returned she accused me of taking too long. Apparently it should in no way take 15 minutes to walk the length of the airport and back. I confessed. I’d found a TV screen and was watching the football highlights.

I thought I’d timed it just right so that she wouldn’t notice. I even came back pretending to be out of breath. She’s getting better at detecting things.

I saw an old man today having a pee in the urinal (I wasn’t watching him – I just noticed him. Let that be known) today. After he’d finished he pressed the flusher button on the top, put his hands into the urinal and washed his hands in the running water.

We are 45 minutes away from jumping on our 19th flight this year. Rachel used to believe that airplane seats were made to absorb people’s bottom gas. She also convinced me of this since I hadn’t recalled smelling anything sinister on a plane before. I was recently embarrassed to discover that it wasn’t true. Thanks for nothing Rachel!

Today’s Photo – Another natural halo

As I mentioned the other day, I love natural halos in HDR. It’s the detail you can show in an otherwise blackened area that peaks my interest. Sometimes these can be mistaken for uncontrolled halos, as a reader of my blog once mentioned.

This was taken at Ngobaran beach just north of Jogjakarta with some very generous Indonesian friends who offered to drive us all the way here for a photo session.

Great place for seeing the panorama of the alps.

I like those Italian names, Firenze, Ponte Vecchio... Awesome :)

My first ever HDR. I used Ps CS4 and Photomatix Pro 3. I was kinda experimenting with different settings so let me know if you have any critiques or suggestions.

My first stab at HDR rendering a photo.

A Extreme HDR of the War Memorial in Melbourne.

Taken @340mm which makes mountains seem alot closer I guess. Taken from our balcony. Few TV antennas had to be "screwed" down :)

Fav PLZz =)

Looking for interesting and dodgy subjects I came across this place.People in general keep telling me not to go down here because it has a reputation for attracting unsavory individuals.I must have timed it right because nobody was here. The smells were awful though, including the smell of dead meat.Only had time for handheld and 3 exposures(a sizable quality compromise as far as the image goes in my personal experience, though some do get this to work well for them).

Panorama of the entrance to the ghost town of Bodie CA.
