A seascape from a few years ago. Point Arena is an often overlooked destination on the California coast. It features beautiful rock colors and formations and a quaint village for accomodation.

Laced with oak pollen, dust, and automobile fumes, this can’t possibly be good. Granted, most of the haze you can see is from the pollen and dust. A couple of more weeks and at least the oak pollen will be mostly gone.

Caught this sundog the other evening, the icy crystals had the evening sun halo effect, the sun is NOT in this frame it is about a frame more tot he left but this one sundog to the right also had one like it to the left of the sun.

The view from Koisonohana headland at the southern end of Isshiki Beach can be breathtaking if you are able to visit early enough in the morning during colder months when the air is dry with lest haze to obscure the view across Sagami Bay.

On April 28, 2006, I rode a Speeder from Cordele to Plains, Georgia on a trip sponsored by NARCOA (aka North American Rail Car Owners Association). Since I don't own a Motor Car (aka a Speeder) , I rode with a friend who owns two Motor Cars. These are some photos that I took during my trip on the Heart of Georgia Railroad.

This Photograph shows the Former Seaboard Coast Line Depot with a Speeder on the Track next to the Depot.

A view looking to the south along a crossing at the northern end of Wonder Lake. There were a few things I had in mind while the bus stopped at this location for us to take in the mostly hidden view of Denali off in the distance. One was just to capture an image from the northern end of Wonder Lake, which I'd wanted to do on a trip to this national park many years ago. While Denali might be hidden, I still wanted to savor the moment with a look across the lake to that hint of an outline of the famous mountain. I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLabs 3 that I’d recently purchased after moving away from Capture NX2. WIth some use of control points for ClearView with this application, I was able to bring out more of that outline for the final image.

Looking to New York from Massachusetts

The view is looking down the road to the southeast. Given the haze from recent wildfires and the late morning sunlight, much of the mountain peaks present could not be easily seen. So I focused on the road ahead with the crossing markers and guard present on each side. The view would then be directly into the image using the road center stripe as a leading line. The rest of the image was metering it to minimize blowing any highlights while composing and lining up the image before any traffic came near :-)

On an early morning trip for sunrise that did not turn much of a sunrise, we ended up walking around Lake Land Wild Life Reserve, Fl. The day was foggy and obscure, much of the shots of wild life had bad lighting effects against the subjects. Around 10 AM, the sun came in, and I was walking where I looked to my left and saw this beautiful shiny spot reflecting from the water onto the tree. Giving the position, I was at, I figured the picture will be somewhat dark given that the light is coming right at the camera lens. So I took multiple shots with different exposures, shutter speed and graduated filters. All in all, there were 12 shots taken. In post processing, I liked the one with the orange graduated filter which shows the bottom to be orange/brownish, and graduate gradually into lightened blue sky and so this is the product of this shot - a landscape from behind and through the tree.

The fires a long distance away. Northerly winds keep moving the smoke over the eastern US. The air is hard to breath and the sunlight is being obscured. Truly we all need to consider how to better manage resources, energy, and goods.

This was taken somewhere near the Ocean Terminal. Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier is on the left. Most major banks are located in the Hong Kong Central District (中環).

The hazy ambience made it rather atmospheric.

Every day something new is blooming and brings colors of love to my soul,

This is the main garden where I spend most of my time till the butterflies arrive then I will be spending most of my time on the other side of the gate on the butterfly garden,

As you see the waterlilies are very small but my Red Canna is about to bloom,

To your left you see the siberian irises in bloom and the large white Clematis,

My Gladiolas are also ready to bloom, the flowerbed with the bird feeder with all the Anemones Lilies Echinaceas is half way in hight and fulness,

I will be posting in different stages this year, Perhaps a video collage will be better.

The smog enveloping Malaysia has reached hazardous levels as indicated in the API (Air Pollution Index) readings recorded in many locations across the country.

The popular International Standard Chartered Marathon with 35,000 participating on Sunday was called off a day before the event due to the worsening haze condition in Kuala Lumpur. Then all schools in Malaysia were forced to close for 2 days on Monday and Tuesday.

Hopefully we'll be seeing the last days of the bad haze season which started since the beginning of September.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department forecast, the skies are expected to be slowly cleared of haze from this weekend onwards with the start of the annual north-east monsoon season bringing forth daily thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and the change of wind directions.

O setting sun! though the time has come,

I still warble under you, if none else does, unmitigated adoration.

I usually avoid people in my landscape shots but I asked my wife Nicole to stand in the lower arch for a sense of scale. Arches is one fascinating place....can't wait to go back!

View from a high point in the small town of Brisighella, Italy...still hazy in the distance after the recent rain.

Burning candle in the night sky. We're experiencing very hazy conditions due to fires in the west. As of yesterday, firefighters were battling 32 large fires in California.

Forest fires are cloaking our west coast sun in a haze that makes the late day light turn fiery red. Bad for people with lung conditions, but good for photography especially with our abundant waters.

"Contemplation at Sea" captures a moment of serene solitude against the vastness of the ocean and the distant march of maritime commerce. As ships traverse the horizon, a lone individual accompanied by two faithful canines sits immersed in the tranquil atmosphere of a hazy morning. The juxtaposition of the stillness onshore with the slow, steady movement of the ships at sea evokes a sense of introspection and the continuum of life's journeys.

This shot was taken with a focus on the simplicity and magnitude of nature's canvas, complemented by human presence and the weight of thought. The diffused light and muted colors contribute to the overall calmness of the scene. It's a testament to those quiet moments of reflection we all seek amidst the hustle of our daily lives.
