Haystack rock on Washington state Highway 172 east of Mansfield.

A mighty fell. Or so I understand. For I was due to take the path to the left - the Scarth Gap Pass - going downhill.

I always loved climbing the haystack. My grandpa admonished us to stay clear of the hay but of course we played on the hay as soon as he turned his back. As I grew older I understood what he meant.

It's bigger than it looks!

Haystack Rock is near Cannon Beach, Oregon. The Pacific Ocean is quite cold to walk in and the tide was coming in this day.

Carmen and I headed around the other side of Haystack Rock once we had looked at the tide pools for long enough.

Looking back from the summit

Taken in Charles City, Virginia at Berkeley Plantation where I am getting married in October. This shot reminded me of a picture I took in college.
