Haystack Rock is a 235-foot tall monolith on the Oregon coast, the third-tallest such structure in the world.
I passed this attractive haystack on the way to a weekend backpacking trip to 7-Devils; near Riggins, Idaho. I have tried to photograph it more than once but have never gotten a result this good.
Haystack Rock is near Cannon Beach, Oregon. The Pacific Ocean is quite cold to walk in and the tide was coming in this day.
Tide pools at Haystack Rock are home to all kinds of marine life, including sea stars, fish, crabs, sea snails and sea anemones. The area extending 300 yards around the rock is designated as a marine garden.
