Someone ID's these as Florida Predatory Stink Bug nymphs - Euthyrhynchus floridanus.
The last chick could be seen wriggling around half out of the shell when the falcon stood up to retrieve some food from the male bird. Amazing to be able to see the chick hatching.
three eggs hatched so far, more to come - the other half has been swimming back and forth with food, braving the swan
Afterv our visit to the Butterfly Farm down in Stratford upon Avon at the weekend this idea popped into my head.
They have a hatching room at the farm where if your lucky you can see the butterflies emerging from their cocoons.
So here i am waiting for my hatching...could be a while! :)

Last year I had 3 golden orb spiders move into my garden I left them there and would watch their antics. One I dubbed Liz Taylor as she had about 7 husbands (the females have a bad habit of eating the males espeaically after mating) Sadly the all died aventually. This is the egg sac from the spider I dubbed 5 as she had 4 legs on one and 1 on the other. From death comes life.....

About a week a ago I accidentally destroyed a quail’s nest while doing yard work. So I brought them inside and set up an incubator. Now I have ten little baby quail.
Egg is pottery clay fired to ^06. The 'body parts' are from polyclay. The egg, a rattle, has been dry-brushed with acrylic paints and has a polyurethane applied(water based).
