30 years and Clio still looks spot on, even aged better than the bulbous pre-facelift 1998-2001 Mk2. This 'Phase II' (first facelift) Mk1 Clio is in high-spec RT trim.

The BX was designed by Marcello Gandini for Bertone Studios and presented in 1982.

The Fiat Bravo and Fiat Brava (Type 182) are small family cars produced by the Italian automaker Fiat from 1995 to 2003 (2001 in Europe). They were effectively two versions of the same car: the Bravo, a three-door hatchback, and the Brava, a five-door fastback.

The Bravo and the Brava were replacements for Fiat's successful but ageing Tipo model. The two cars were very different in styling detail and driving experience, the Bravo chassis being tuned for more precise handling, whilst the Brava was tuned for better comfort. The interior trim and many of the body colours were unique to either one version or the other.

The Bravo/Brava chassis spawned saloon and estate versions in 1996, which were badged as the Fiat Marea, a car which aimed at Ford Mondeo and Opel/Vauxhall Vectra buyers, which won praise for its large boot.

Another car based on the Bravo/Brava underpinnings, the Fiat Multipla, was launched in 1999. This was a six-seater compact MPV. In the same year, the Bravo/Brava received a mild makeover. It was discontinued in 2001, being replaced by the Fiat Stilo.

Even first generation Almeras are thin on the gound, so to find a survivor of last Sunny models to be sold here is a real find.

The Dacia 1325, also known as 1325 Liberta or simply as Liberta, was a car manufactured by Romanian auto marque Dacia from 1991 to 1996.

The Dacia 1325 was the hatchback version of the Dacia 1310. Some photos exist of Dacia 1325 Libertas fitted with the final CN4 front fascia, although rare. It was the successor to the Dacia 1320 hatchback, which was built from 1987 until 1990. At first the 1325 was just an updated copy of the old 1310, but in 1993 it received a facelift matching that of the 1310, and it remained in production until 1996.

As the 1325 cost more than the more desirable station wagon model, sales were limited. Although more successful than the earlier 1320, only about 7,800 examples were built in total. Exports were limited to nearby Eastern European countries and also Greece.

The 1.3-liter, 40 kW engine was only available in the comparably expensive 1325 for the first year of production, replaced by the 47 kW, 1.4 L in 1993.

Now this was by far my favourite car at the show, this is exactly my favourite spec of Cavalier, complete in Vauxhall red paint that isn't faded! It was here last year and I took some photos but got some better ones this year! I am also aware that this car has appeared on Flickr many times before which I am glad to see, it seems it often appears at shows. Currently taxed until the 1st of December 2022 and MOT'ed until the 20th of January 2023. Sits at around 117,574 miles according to its last MOT in January this year. Last logbook change was on the 20th of June 2016.

All these cars are located in Hoogeveen. Although some cars are there for years, it's not a scrapyard, the owner hopes/says that these cars will be exported.

Most of them are not dutch, but imported from Denmark.

The second generation Vauxhall Cavelier was launched in August 1981, as a front wheel drive car, using the same underpinnings as the Opel Ascona C. on the J body platform. During its model years it was available as a 2 or 4 door Saloon, Convertible, 5 door Estate and 5 door Hatchback, and with four cylinder engines of 1256cc, 1598cc, 1796cc and 1998cc. This model was part of GM's family of compact J-cars, along with the new Opel Ascona, the Australian Holden Camira, the Brazilian Chevrolet Monza, the Japanese Isuzu Aska, and the North American Chevrolet Cavalier, Pontiac Sunbird, Buick Skyhawk, Oldsmobile Firenza and Cadillac Cimarron.

In the UK it proved a huge sales succcess, with sales topping 100,000 in 1982, overtaking the new and radical Ford Sierra.and was Britains second best selling car in 1984 and 1985, behind the smaller Ford Escort.

Over the course of the model's lifetime, there were two facelifts mirroring changes made to the Ascona - firstly for the 1985 model year which saw revised grilles, modified rear lamp clusters, new steering wheels, upgraded equipment, new upholstery options and different instrument graphics

And in 1987 for the genarations last model year the grilles and rear lamp clusters revised again in a style similar to the larger Senator model together with further improvements to equipment levels. A new 2.0L engine option became available on CD, SRi and GLS trim, whilst the availability of the fuel injected 1.8L unit was extended down to L trim.

The second generation Cavelier was replaced by the third generation in October 1988, after raking up 807,624 sales, despite this they are a rare sight today, by August 2006 there was claimed to be only 6,343 remaining in working order and by December 2009 that number had fallen to 1289.

The 1st Civic Type R hatchback was introduced in 1997 and was the 3rd model to receive Honda's Type R badge (after the NSX and Integra). Type R versions of the Civic typically feature a lightened and stiffened body, specially tuned engine, and upgraded brakes and chassis. Like other Type R models, red is used in the background of the Honda badge to distinguish it from other models.

The Fiat Spazio was a modernized version of the Fiat 147, which was based on the Italian 1971-83 Fiat 127. The Fiat 127 was designed by Pio Manzù.

From Jan. 1982-1996 the Fiat 147 was produced by Sevel Argentina. Sevel had taken over the production rights of Fiat-Concord.

The Fiat 147 was also manufactured in Betim, Brazil.

In Nov. 1984 the 147 got a new front and was renamed Spazio.

The Peugeot 205 was reduced to budget-orientated or special edition models by the mid-90s like this Inca edition. Now on SORN and with an interesting MOT history!

I am a huge fan of the MK3 Cavalier and this is exactly the one I would want. A MK3 facelift hatchback in red, with a sunroof! This was an amazing example that looked showroom fresh. Last logbook change was on the 20th June 2016.

Believe it or not there was a time when Toyota Corolla didn't automatically conjure an image of a rather bland front drive sedan. The Corolla is so ubiquitous now, and has been available (in the U.S.) as only a sedan for so long, it's easy to forget that it wasn't always this way.

This car is living proof that Corollas could be interesting cars, and that they came in a huge variety of body styles - something rather unusual for an inexpensive unibody car.

The E70 Corolla was introduced in the summer of 1979 and became available in the United States that fall. Like it's predecessor, the E30 (1974-1981), this car came in a virtual armada of configurations.

The E70 was available as two- and four-door sedans, a four-door wagon, two different coupes (a hardtop notchback and a fastback), and the three-door liftback you see here. In other markets it was also available as a two- or four-door panel van.

They were excellent cars - and helped further Toyota's already good reputation for building a quality vehicle. But they were also nice to drive - and in this form, something unique at the time.

Toyota had introduced the first iteration of the Liftback for 1975. It immediately drew comparisons to the Volvo P1800ES, a very similar idea but one which had gone out of production in 1973. It was also likened to the much smaller MGB/GT, which would also soon be gone form the American landscape, and the Chevrolet Vega and Ford Pinto Wagons. By 1982, there were virtually no similar cars to the liftback - except for possibly the much larger AMC Spirit Kammback (successor to the Gremlin).

This generation of Corolla was powered either by the pushrod 3T-C 1.8 liter engine, or the 4A-C SOHC 1.6. Though not particularly powerful by modern standards, these were light and small vehicles - Just about 2,200 lbs at their heaviest (the 4-door wagon) - and they were rear drive. Not overtly sporting, but they had neutral and predictable handling that made for fun driving.

They were rock tough too - favorites of driving schools and couriers, they did alot to help Toyota's reputation for reliability. One area where they had trouble, however, was rust. Like many Japanese cars of this era, they were prolific rusters, so you don't see them often in snowy climes.

Toyota was interested in rationalization, and when the Corolla was redesigned into a front-drive design in late 1983, the many flavors of Corolla began to winnow away. At first, Toyota kept some variety alive by continuing rear-drive models in coupe form (the now famous AE86) and also bring new hatches to market as the Corolla FX. But in time, these would also go away.

Other manufacturers in the late eighties tried the two-door sport wagon concept, with Nissan and Isuzu offering optional, interchangeable wagon backs for some of their hatchback coupes (Pulsar/EXA and Impulse MKII) and Volkswagen offering the Brazilian-made Fox two-door wagon. None were quite as successful stylistically (or in sales terms) as Toyota had been.

It's too bad Toyota hasn't seen fit to revisit the idea of more interesting variations of Corolla...
