I just love wandering the mazelike alleys. Especially this one near the train station in Kichijoji. To get inspired (and for the Leica Bonus ;) ) watch this Japanology Plus Episode: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hdrz7_44NiA
Side entrance to Harmonica Alley in Kichijoji, late one evening. I used to frequent the bars here and two of them that I loved are thankfully still there. However one entire alley was bought up by some corporate and turned into a not very authentic tourist trap so wasn't too happy to see that.

Harmonica
This Yamaha harmonica was given to me by my Grandfather in 1992.
Uploaded for the weekly theme #Sound in The Flickr Lounge .
Photographed at Randfontein in South Africa.
Using the (kit lens) Nikon Nikkor AF-P 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 G VR DX lens.
I shoot full manual in Raw and edit in GIMP.
Critique is welcomed.
Thank you all very much for your visits, favs and comments.
He was playing on Decatour Street just outside Jackson Square in the French Quarter of New Orleans. There was a television crew there filming him at the same time and he was really into his performance. This is take 2 - Color (Sort of) and uncropped.
Subject
The subject is the holes of a translucent plastic Hohner harmonica, lit from within.
It was shot for entry into Macro Monday's "Member's Choice - Musical Instruments" challenge.
Lens
SMC Pentax-DA L 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR. It's the kit wide-angle zoom. It's on a pair of stacked teleconverters in order to achieve 1:1 macro: a Vivitar 2x and a Sigma 1.4x AF. Both carry the aperture information back to the body.
Because of the stacked teleconverters, the focal-length data is lost. The EXIF entry for focal-length is based on the options set on the camera and does not reflect the adjusted focal-length of the lens. The actual focal length was 154mm.
Lighting
The harmonica is sitting on a flash diffuser, which is sitting on a n LED flashlight. Light spillage is minimized using gaff tape. See the first comment for an image of the setup.
I was asked to do a "what's in your bag post" via tumblr, so here ya go. Mixed cd, Dove by Robin Lee Graham, harmonica, pocket sewing kit, sea shell, some film, and floral shoes.
Time to make some noise! :)
