The hardest ones to catch (of course) are N&D's pair of East Lancs Nordics - while numerous Scanias and B7TLs will turn up here, I have only ever seen one of these on duty, and last month it was totally against the sun on arrival, and then parked nose-to-tail with other vehicles on layover.

At least the sun was not a problem on this occasion, though I only grabbed this shot as it was making its way to the rear of the layover queue, with seconds to spare. It certainly looks better here than it did in MASS Transit lime green !

ā€œAutumn is the hardest season. The leavesšŸ‚ are all falling, and they're falling like they're falling in love with the ground.ā€

ā€œThe fallen leaves in the forest seemed to make even the ground glow and burn with lightā€ ~ Malcolm Lowry

"November is usually such a disagreeable month…as if the year had suddenly found out that she was growing old and could do nothing but weep and fret over it. This year is growing old gracefully…just like a stately old lady who knows she can be charming even with gray hair and wrinkles. We've had lovely days and delicious twilights. This last fortnight has been so peaceful.... How quiet the woods are to‑day…not a murmur except that soft wind purring in the treetops! It sounds like surf on a faraway shore." ~ Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne of Avonlea, 1909

Dear FriendsšŸ’—,

I am quickly uploading another autumnal picture, before another Autumn season is gone, and I am left with a multitude of pictures from the last few years! Having not been on Flickr for nearly one year, hasn't helped. Hence I am busily looking for the best pictures of the last three years! I hope you will enjoy them!

With lovešŸ’—, Inga x

"The hardest thing in life is to know which bridge to cross and which to burn…"-David Russell

this is the hardest caption i have ever had to write and the hardest week i have ever had to make it through. this boy, my scott, scott edward william wachal, is gone. i found this while going through prints of his.

he is the reason i am on flickr. his sarcastic comments and generous favourites are half the reason my photos are viewed. he is the reason i haven't given up on photography. except now i have no clue how i will continue on my own, without his constant encouragement. i am sick because we will never know where his art would have taken him. he had the biggest ideas...for his art, and for his future.

he was my very best friend for fourteen years and now i miss him so fucking much. i don't remember my life before he was in it and there is no one with whom i laughed more. suddenly everything on this dumb website and the internet in general depresses me because each hilarious and beautiful and silly thing i see i want to send to him. we spent hours upon hours gossiping about and criticizing the countless photographers who inspired us. i've realized 20% of my sense of humour included jokes only he understood and now that part of my has to shrivel up and die alongside him. my head is full of useless knowledge about the personal lives and work of other talented artists on flickr, and i now i no longer have anyone with whom i can share that.

i have no one to borrow batteries from, no one to order bulk film with, and no one to graciously help edit my photos when i am stuck. it's no fun staying up until 4 am trying to figure out the world on my macbook alone :( i have no one to stand by my side, shoulder to shoulder, camera's in hand, and capture the crazy shit that always seemed to unfold before our eyes. i'm lonely. i'm angry. i'm lost.

and his caption only speaks about the photographer side of my scott, when there was so much more that defined him, and our friendship.

flickr has lost one of its finest.

"What’s the hardest thing about being an artist?ā€

"You put so much of yourself into it. It becomes deeply personal and it’s hard to distance yourself. Then those niggling thoughts creep in, and you start questioning and analysing every little thing.ā€

As an artist, or a ā€˜creative’ as certain sections of the community like to call it, Scarlett’s answer very much resonated with me. I imagine almost all creative people go through the same process. I talked to Scarlett at length about this topic, both of us providing our own interpretation of our experiences and how we dealt with certain situations. We didn’t come to any great conclusion, other than to agree that the state of mind plays a vital part.

Scarlett was carrying a large A1 folder containing her entire portfolio. She had just been for an interview with the art school and said it had gone well.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Irene hit Vermont the hardest.

At first I was unconcerned, at ease. The power went out and didn't come back till the next morning around the time my dad came home. It was kinda nice being disconnected from the world. But it left us unaware of what actually was happening. We live on top of a large hill... our house was completely unaffected.. even our roads were okay. My sister and her boyfriend came home around 6 maybe 7ish to tell us they just drove through flooding on the road connected to our road. We watched the news today to find out the rest of the state had been hit hard. There are lots of towns cut off from the rest of the state. Lots of people without power and water. Queeches bridge got swept away.. I'm so sorry, Vermont. You're all in my thoughts.

The Hardest thing about Working for Yourself Blogged at The UK Mama

The hardest thing about taking this picture was the waiting for the leaves to stop blowing! When they are out there on the thin branches the slightest breeze will get them to bobbing up and down. There are a few here that will show a bit of blur if you enlarge the picture, but overall the leaves were behaving when I shot this.

The hardest bit of the build was (as is often the case with jets) the nose. The JSF had a down-tilted forward fuselage with a quite sharp stealth chine.

The hardest thing about doing a photo shoot with Heather is trying to decide which photos to post while keeping it to a reasonable number. I guess I am slightly biased. We took these photos at the Valley of Fire State Park, NE of Las Vegas and one of my favorite places to visit. We arrived late in the day and only had about an hour to shoot before we lost light and the park closed. Heather looked stunning. I am so lucky!

I took these photos in early February 2021 in the Valley of Fire State Park NE of Las Vegas, Nevada.

The hardest part was to show the shape of glass and making proper reflection in the lens. I achieve that with placing curved peace of paper above glass so close to the lens that I must remove it later in photoshop.

Strobist info:

- two YN 560-III speedlights in gridded softboxess on left and right slightly behind subject

- white reflector above the lens

- YN 560-TX to controll flashes

- YN RF-603 to trigger camera and flash

One of the hardest things to manage is the naming of photographs as to where, When & Why photographs moments preserved ! then again having shown on different sites ! Yes / No Maybe may also challenge, And you thought You were normal !! it's a priority for me to shoot statues, I circled this on for preserving all the different possibilities, too much Sun or shade or reflection, and you remember someone asking ! do you really take that long ! Yes / No / Maybe and what year because it's easier to find, Sure to say the Academy hasn't moved, But we have ! Yesterday and now forever we lost the last of our Favorite Friends of More than Fifty years , Now it's good to say He will not have to suffer anymore ! To His Wife ! Thank You for sharing with US.

When we make our annual trip to Alaska, the hardest part of the trip is trying to figure out what time of year that we want to be there. Like anywhere else, the springtime brings special touches, like perhaps less crowds, some really young ones, still colder temperatures, possibility of having snow in your images, mating behaviors from the bears, and a general sense of "new-ness", if you will. The summer (June, July) is wonderful too for even more babies out and about, lots more birds in the forecast, and still lots of wildlife ... but the temperatures are a bit more moderate, the kids are out on vacation, crowds are much more common, as well as the mosquitos. The fall (late August, September) season, which is usually when we visit, is when the bugs seem to leave, along with many of the heavy crowds, the moose begin to congregate in preparation for the rut season, snow may easily begin to be in your forecast again, and the temperatures return to the colder side (which to us, is a major plus factor). However, the thing that most attracts us to the fall season are the seasonal changes in the leaves and tundra that go with it. Like anywhere else, you have to hit it just right and if you blink your eyes ... you might just miss it. :-)

Spotting wildlife in Denali is not always an easy task. As you can tell in this image, they seemingly emerge from the dense brush, we catch a glimpse, and just as quickly they can enter the cover of the brush again. Don't think that they don't know it either. I truly believe that the moose in particular will wait you out. LOL

Today marks now 2 weeks until we leave for our next endeavor into Alaska and I couldn't be happier.

Denali NP & Preserve is always a destination for us while there and I'm sure that we'll find many moose along the way. It's pretty much a given. I remember one year we had lots of rain for the first week of our visit and we were in a "moose drought" having gone 10 days without seeing one! Within 2 hours of being in Denali NP, we had about 18 on our wildlife checklist already! Like the predictability of Old Faithful in Yellowstone NP, you can pretty much all but guarantee that you'll find moose at that time of year.

One may notice that when comparing the seasons, I never mentioned the word rain. That's because it can come (and will come) at any time, any season, also pretty much guaranteed. I'll admit to being a bit cranky when that happens, but in reality have nothing to complain about. After all ... we're on a Alaskan Walkabout! It doesn't get much better.

Thanks so much for stopping by to view and especially for sharing your thoughts and comments.

and the hardest part in all of this is

i don't think i know my way back home

Is it worth the journey-- or do I let my heart settle here?

Wore the perfect skirt to catch the sun rays ā™„ļøŽ The original plan was to wait for sunset, but it got til 8pm and we didn't want to wait for dark because the drive home was full of sharp turns. 🚐 In any case we waited long enough for the sun to begin setting and the mist to start rolling in~~

During the hardest times in life, it would be way too simple to build that wall and lock your heart within it in fear. Instead keep it open and let your love flow and don't be surprised if it does not come flowing back to you.....Shell

There's a reason for the sunshiny sky

There's a reason why I'm feeling so high

Must be the season when those love lights shine all around us

So let that feeling grab you deep inside

And send you reeling where your love can't hide

And then go stealing through the moonlit night with your lover

Just let your love flow like a mountain stream

And let your love grow with the smallest of dreams

And let your love show and you'll know what I mean it's the season

Let your love fly like a bird on the wind

And let your love find you to all living things

And let your love shine and you'll know what I mean that's the reason

There's a reason for the warm sweet nights

And there's a reason for the candle lights

Must be the season when those love lights shine all around us

So let that wonder take you into space

And lay you under its loving embrace

Just feel the thunder as it warms your face you can't hold back

Just let your love flow like a mountain stream

And let your love grow with the smallest of dreams

And let your love show and you'll know what I mean it's the season

Let your love fly like a bird on the wind

And let your love find you to all living things

And let your love shine and you'll know what I mean that's the reason

Just let your love flow like a mountain stream

And let your love grow with the smallest of dreams

And let your love show and you'll know what I mean it's the season

Let your love fly like a bird on the wind

And let your love find you to all living things

And let your love shine and you'll know what I mean that's the reason.

Sunrises are perhaps the hardest and most unpredictable to photograph, and certainly the one decision where the tradeoffs are extremely hard to ascertain. Whenever I try to plan ahead for a sunrise shoot, I keep exploring different contingencies and evaluate how conditions can go wrong. But once I commit, I prefer not to turn back on that decision.

The only choice after that lays in the location and composition to shoot. And this represents another challenge if you have scouted the area before. Such was the case with trying to capture sunrise in the vicinity of the San Juan islands. Thankfully, this lighthouse formed the perfect foreground for the scene. Two of the innumerable bald eagles in the area settled atop the lighthouse, much to my delight, to be the icing on the cake that was this sunrise.

One of the hardest panoramas to be done in HDR. There was a serious gap between the highlights and the shadows and I really wanted to stick to ISO 400 and not approach ISO 800 as I used to do on the beach panoramas done in the dark in Kuwait. Anyway, seems I've found some good compromise here, with some noise!

The hardest part of the climb is behind us now, as we passed Camp 4 (6400m).

On that Summit day, we climbed up for 9 hrs, to which 3 hours of descent should be added.

We had a perfect Weather window for several days with low wind.

Marble Canyon is the second hardest place to reach at the Death Valley National Park in California, behind the extremely hard to reach Racetrack Playa (a place we could not visit on this trip due to the access being shut down).

You reach Marble Canyon after an hour of bone-rattling drive on a dirt road totally conditioned by the Washboard effect. No rental car agency will allow this off-road access, which means in addition to your body, your automobile also takes a beating. So you need a dirt roadworthy SUV, preferably one that is so beat up that you no longer care.

The reward for your troubles is worth it – an amazing walk through a canyon that no photograph can do justice to. It does not have the panache of some of the swirling orange rocks at Zion National Park, but the blue walls and rocks of Marble Canyon are unique in their own way.

The best time to visit is in the afternoon, but not so late that you get caught there when it gets dark. Also, it is highly recommended that you travel in a group, with at least two, maybe three cars. That way, if there's any breakdown, you have people who can lend a hand.

For the most part, Marble Canyon is easy walking, but there are a couple of places that require steep climbing. You don't have to be super athletic to manage it, but a certain basic level of fitness is necessary. There are places you will likely need to use your tripod or hiking poles for support, and good hiking boots with superior traction are mandatory.

There is a myriad of things you can photograph here, ranging from the macro to the micro. As we walked through the canyon, I took a lot of photos of whatever caught my fancy. Even after culling my raw shots, I still ended up with some 50+ images.

I don't have a way to condense them down to a half dozen "best photos", so I'm just going to make it a virtual tour and publish them all. That way, anyone considering a visit should have a reasonably good feel for the place.

Don't feel compelled to comment, just enjoy the virtual tour!

The hardest people to convince they are at retirement age are children at bedtime

Shannon Fife

My cousin Hulda and her daughter Árný.

A small part of the photostory I made for them, not trying to portray the child as something she isnt but to catch her doing the every day bits of stuff.

It will be fun when the kid grows up to have a whole photostory to look at, and there will probably be more since she is a delight to photograph; -the child of a million faces.

Alexander Fleming once said a good gulp of whiskey helped before bedtime, but I doubt it would be a good addition to this girls bedtime rituals.

This was by far the hardest image I took, and I am very pleased with it. I went through four models trying to get this one shot. From the moment I first picked my mood, this was the image that popped into my head. Its kind of humerus how it was the last image I ended up taking for this project. I went through 140 images just for this one shot.

The technical aspects of this image were the use of a tripod, although it wasn't on the ground. I used the tripod as leverage to get this image without casting a shadow from the spotlight I used. The water in the tub made everything blurry, so i tried to compensate that by using an fstop of 7 in hopes that everything else would be nice and crisp. Because I had a high aperture, I had to compensate by using a slow shutter speed. I rested the tripod on my side to help stable the camera while I took my image.

This image reflects the mood overwhelmed because when you are overwhelmed you feel suffocated. I chose to represent this by having my model underwater. Her face is almost pained. I chose to have my model fully dressed to help symbolize being overwhelmed. If she were undressed and I had taken the image from the shoulders up you would have gotten the feeling that some one was just taking pictures of someone bathing. I wanted to exaggerate the feeling of being overwhelmed by having her fully dressed. Again the light around the tub seems to be closing in on my model.

A Hawker Hurricane P2921 photographed at Biggin Hill Airport on the 18th. August, 2015, to mark the 'Battle of Britain' 75th anniversary of the "hardest day".

As we roll through humpday, often the hardest day of the week to pull through, it's good to try and find some solace in the mundane. Fall into the rhythm of solidarity and allow your mind to wander to better days, times and things that you look forward too... however it can also help to look for the things that standout amongst the monotony.

Often when out bush walking with my camera it can be tricky to find compositions amongst the throngs of trees ad bushes become a wash to the vision as they all stack on top of each other. I find I really have o engage my minds eye to try and see things as compositions...sometimes you get home and they have worked , many times it is the opposite. Much like the grass tree it is often about finding that thing that stands out amongst the wash and hoping you can do it justice and make the composition work. Like life, if you focus hard enough and let everything else just wash away around you, it all comes together.

We started living in an old house

My ma gave birth and we were checking it out

It was a baby boy

So we bought him a toy

It was a ray gun

And it was 1981

We named him Baby

He had a toothache

He started crying

It sounded like an earthquake

It didnt last long

Because I stopped it

I deleted the original because I felt a little uncomfortable with how it was cropped, so I changed the crop ever so slightly. :)

The hardest part about coping with a dog in season is keeping her close by, especially when she has as much zest as Sophie. As you can see this was a chance to let her run free for a while and she made the most of it!

Someone had a box labeled "Halloween costume", and we started digging through, giggling. Actually, we were probably laughing the hardest that we've ever laughed while yardsaling. We tried to pick and choose, but the people were like, "No, you gotta take the whole box!" It was basically their lifetime bdsm stash? It consisted of some leather clothes, leather leg warmers, chains, nipple clamps, cock ring (which we threw away), collars, spreader bar, restraints, etc. Halloween costume, indeed. We're onto you. The lady also tried to tell us about safewords.

Pretty funny situation. This $15 stash was then METICULOUSLY cleaned with the leather cleaning kit we previously bought at other yardsales.... Probably for over an hour.

Those whips look like novelty spencer gifts stuff, but they can actually give you an impact bruise simultaneously with a very very intense sting. Their biteis actually worse than their bark.

BDSM.

Halloween costume, chains, collars, leather, leg warmers, nipple clamps, sex toys, spreader bar, whips.

Your such a pretty face, radiant

I saw you across the room, I knew I had to have you

I started the chase

I knew I would do anything to take your hand and make you mine

But I learnt long ago that if you love someone

You have to let it go

The hardest part of letting go is saying goodbye

You severed away and it makes him sad

Beneath the venomous moonlight

Why unleash my plan to watch you fail

And why I am so afraid?

Go to sleep my love

And taste my sweet revenge upon your lips

Sealed with a kiss

I return to the masquerade bomb

I kneel the most if you're weeping

Storm by stone and you order the wall

Forever left you say cheeping

Go to sleep my love

And taste my sweet revenge upon your lips

Sealed with a kiss

But I've learnt long ago

That if you love someone you have to let it go,

Let it go, let it go

The hardest part of letting go is saying goodbye

Goodbye, let it go...
