This is a shot of the coils for the motor and bearing recess for a hard disc. You can see whats left of the head on the left of the shot. This snap was taken with my new £5 ring e-bay ring light and a little Ixus camera.

I didn't measure this, but I think it's around 36", so a 36" hard-drive disc.
And you thought 8" floppies were big.
I bought this mini external harddisk yesterday. It's slim and light so easy to take to school. Now i can take al my home made photoshop actions with me.

My fairly new, failed 3 TB Seagate Barracuda hard disk in the autopsy.
Image taken with Canon 6D + 135mm f/2L at f/18 and edited in Photoshop CC and Lightroom. I had four shots in stacked focus in order to get a proper depth of field.

This is the middle of the hard disc featured in my other pics. It was taken with natural sunlight and auto WB. The image has been adjusted simply with iPhoto '06. The contrast has been ramped up and the bottom end levels have been shifted up to remove the darker bits and add more texture. It has been slightly sharpened and WB has been adjusted slightly towards the blue.
I like the the interference pattern at 12 'oclock and the the colours at 8 'oclock. The pink in the radial reflaection is me leaning over to take the shot :)

After 5 years of (24/7/365) operation, the drive crashed and died. But, it's a nice piece of technical innovation for taking pictures of it, so i decided to open the Harddrive and take some photo's of its inside.
Yes, I love old hardware. and Ataris can tell loads of stories! This is a Mega ST II with Megafile 30 attached. For a long time I thought that this HardDisk is the loudest piece of technology in our household. But that was before I got the Atari Laser Printer... So far, I never used it.
Yet another angle of my macmini 1.5 Ghz Intel Core Solo on top. Iomega 250 GB external harddisk in the middle and LaCie cd/dvd writer on the bottom.

Mind you, I still play most of my music analogue (vinyl) or from cd. But among the thousands of MP3 I have on my harddisk, these are the ones I played most this year. According to the scrobble-function on Last.fm.
Will try it in Denmark coming days- then hopefully in Canada/USA next year. The backdrop with it seems it is a bit heavy - because of the harddisk. But it is not something which you will leave in your car.

having used it in Denmark for some days (in and out of cities) - this is a great tool. It helps you change lane (??) on the motorway ("Keep to the right") .- it helps you in big cities where you have to watch out for people, cars - and - like in Copenhagen - lots of bicycles while at the same time look out for the right street.
I had problems getting it alive after it had blackened out (no more electricity), but after resetting ++ it has been just working great.
