We don't know her actual birthday, but she was born around Christmas so her birthday is celebrated on the first day of winter. A special day for a special spoo and a very special year.

Three generations of family sit and watch the June 2010 Critical Mass pass through Pilsen, Chicago. I wrote an article about Critical Mass today as I've been really sad to see a rise in driver hostility. Bicyclists owe it to themselves to try to be as constructive as possible but I feel people are just way too self centered and unreasonable. They'd rather risk killing a few bicyclists if it means they'll get to a hair appointment 10 minutes earlier. Unfortunately, I'm speaking from an experience I had on the last mass with an advancing and pretty much insane driver who was willing to run over Cinchel and I and anyone else she needed to. Sometimes, the world really makes me wonder why I'm not completely agoraphobic. I'm not kidding.

Earlier this week our daughter Gemma was at home with Wiggins when there was a commotion in the back gardens, with Wiggins barking like mad. He was all excited because there was a hedgehog in the garden, unfortunately a poorly one, which Gemma whizzed down to our local vets in a shoe box. The vets called just before lunch today to say Mr Hedgehog was fully recovered, and ready to venture back into the wild. We let him go in our front garden, out of harms way, and after a while we noticed he was on his merry way.

She's a smaller sized replica of a vintage c1926 bear that Ian bought from the Volpps, and the original can be seen by visitors to the shop. She was given the name Happy by Rosemary Volpp when her husband Paul bought the bear at Sotheby's auction in 1989 for a world record price as an anniversary gift for her.

It is the time of year you let all the sorrows and highlights from last year passing by
and that is good.. I think back to a great time in California, and to be this lucky to
find myself (with the help of the dachshund virus) this special overseas family..
For the new year, September, will bring us a new adventure....
Von will join Roon and me on our trip to France..! That is something to look forward to, and we hope there will be this chance for her to meet our "wonderboy" Alex and the rest of our wildbunch....

Happy Canada Day Folks!
This July 1 was Canada's 142nd Happy Birthday. Specially wishing to those Americans who put Canadian Flags on their backpack while traveling abroad. Anything for safety. :)
Some interesting facts about Canada:
1. When you send a mail to Santa Clause, it comes to Canada. The postal code for the North Pole is HOHOHO. In the month of December, every mail sent to him gets answered by the Canada Post employees - in 17 languages, including braille.
2. The average life expectancy for a Canadian is 8th highest in the world, at 81.16 years. The United States ranks 46th, at 78.14 years.
3. Toronto is not the Capital of Canada, Ottawa is. (If I just had a penny for every time I heard the myth).
