I finally made it down to Denver last night for the City and County Building. This building is elaborately decorated every holiday season. This is an HDR of 3 images, 1 EV apart. One Sunday morning in March 2020, I was having breakfast when I heard a little tinkling sound from somewhere. I wondered for a moment where the sound was coming from, until I found a nest in one of the cupboards with little chicks. What a Sunday surprise!! I had noticed that mother Tauno and father Lorenzo had had a flaming romance, but I had not thought that there would be chicks! :D I will probably never forget that morning, it was such a lovely surprise that I can still rejoice in it to this day.
Tauno and Aapa unfortunately both passed away in 2024.
Their absence is profound.

I am so distraught over Echo...she's really having a tough time battling the salmon poisoning. We brought her home [from the vet] last night at 8: 30pm but I could tell that she was not feeling well and very dehydrated from diarrhea and not drinking water so took her to ER at 2am so she could be put back on IV liquids.
I'll pick her up at 7am and transfer to my regular vet for another day of being attached to IV- antibiotics. I just can't sleep so have been passing time here on Flickr.
I wish she'd bounce back ---even a little bit. She has no interest in eating and seems very lethargic. Please keep her in your prayers.
Today is my dad's birthday! Happy 88th to him--we'll be celebrating w/ entire family tomorrow.
Echo update: She finally ATE food, and tore out her catheter at the vet --began barking to be let out so they knew she was well enough to go home which is where she is now. Hooray that Echo is feeling better. Whew! What an ordeal that was.
