Wishing everyone a happy, prosperous and safe diwali!

Diwali also called Divali, Deepavali or the "festival of lights", is a five-day Hindu festival which starts on Dhanteras, celebrated on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna paksha (dark fortnight) of the Hindu calendar month Ashwin and ends on Bhaubeej, celebrated on the second lunar day of Shukla paksha of the Hindu calendar month Kartik.

For Hindus, Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. For Jains, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha or nirvana by Mahavira in 527 BC. For Sikhs, Diwali is particularly important because it celebrates the release from prison of the sixth guru, Guru Hargobind, and 52 other princes with him, in 1619. Arya Samajists, celebrate this day as Death Anniversary of Swami Dayanand Saraswati. They also celebrate this day as Shardiya Nav-Shasyeshti.

The name "Diwali" or "Divali" is a contraction of deepavali which translates into "row of lamps". Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. These lamps are kept on during the night and one's house is cleaned, both done in order to make the goddess Lakshmi feel welcome. Firecrackers are burst because it is believed that it drives away evil spirits. During Diwali, all the celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends.

Happy holidays everyone! I hope you have a lovely christmas with your beloved ones :)

Thank you for looking. :-)

Happy Christmas to you, my friends

:D

and see you all in New Year!

Today [and everyday] we remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice protecting and serving us. While having a good time and eating, think of and remember the good times with the men and women in uniform that are no longer with us. Another picture of my origami Happy Snowman, designed and folded by Michelle Fung (me) from one uncut square of paper. The big nose is my favorite part of this model.

This weekend is the San Francisco Pride, a parade and festival to celebrate the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people and their allies. We went to the Mission Dolores Park for a photo shoot. Lots of interesting scenes!

The two women look like a happy lesbian couple.

I processed a single RAW exposure into a soft HDR photo and added some vignetting.

nyways Thanx bro for the night ^_^

and happy Eid n 2007 everyone :)

To all my friends at Flickr. I hope that you have an amazing 2012.

June 24 was my son Tazrian's birthday ( he is now officially 3 years old ).

Whole day we had fun together, and in the evening I was supposed to take everyone out for a fun dinner.

At about 8.30 pm, when I was leaving my hospital, a lovely child of about same age as my son came in with a knife injury in the eye. Some how he fell on a kitchen knife while playing which deeply lacerated his right eye.

I had to go back to OT for the emergency surgery which took me about two hours. And all the while the tear stricken faces of the unfortunate parents were going through my mind.

By the time, I got back home, Tazrian was in deep sleep. I could not take him to the promised 'evening out', but I hope that someday he would really understand the reason.

Please, please save some of your prayers for that little unfortunate boy and my son!

Dianthus in my garden. Wish I could share the scent with you all!

This is not the best shot since it was shot from my car driving by meaning no tripod and ISO 1600... but this tiny cheerful cottage looked pretty cool and I just had to capture it :)

I souped this image up with photoshop, but I think the product is truer than the image on the magazine cover, which was dull and faded.

happy chinese new year dear friends..

祝大家新年快乐,心想事成,万事如意。

Well, had a rough few days with a stomach virus, compliments of working in a school. It ended Monday night, but I was out of school for Tuesday to recover, and it just HAPPENED to be the first real "spring-like" day we had! 50 degrees and sunny!!! AND, on top of that, all of our crocuses were in FULL bloom! They were just GORGEOUS!!! (The next day it was cold and rainy, and now it's snowing. The crocuses have been all closed up.)

I was weak and exhausted, but feeling SO MUCH better. And, well, you KNOW I couldn't pass up the first real opportunity to get out my camera and shoot these gorgeous little harbingers of sunny, warm days! Particularly since I knew the bad weather was coming. SO glad I did!!! There's plenty more shots where these came from.

Happy Birthday GummyWorm! We're not super close at all but you are one of my contestant in my BNTM. And I don't wanna call you on your real name cuz' tbh, I don't really know that your name is Hannah so I just wanna call you GummyWorm. Anyways, Happy Birthday~ I hope you like this!

Today is the anniversary of this singular lady's birth.

Somewhere all her enemies are being murdered in their sleep.

Somewhere explosives are being laid under the cars of those who think poorly of her.

Somewhere that cat that hissed at her is being poisoned.

Somewhere an angel is getting its wings.

And Zoetica will be there to cut them off.

This lady is quite possibly evil, and that is awesome.

So happy birthday, don't kill me!

Evidence of Zoetica's superpower, on the BLOG.

After the gale-force winds last week, I checked on the local burrowing owls again today. This little owl was flitting around eating bugs but took a little break.
