161222-N-OY799-056 YOKOSUKA, Japan (Dec. 22, 2016) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) Airman (AW/SW) Candice Hunt, from Garner, Iowa, and Airman Ana Flores, from Lompoc, California, assigned to the Navy's only forward aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), standby with a mooring line in hand as the Los Angeles-class attack submarine USS Pasadena (SSN 752) prepares to moor at Fleet Activities Yokosuka for a port visit. U.S. Navy port visits represent an important opportunity to promote stability and security in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region, demonstrate commitment to regional partners and foster relationships. A couple of days ago, the dishwasher handle switch gave up again - Sugru wasn't rigid enough to hold its shape under regular compression and friction. So I measured out the critical dimensions, designed and printed off an insert to address the worn-down nubs.
Of course, once that was addressed the electronics died completely! They were already only half-working, but the previously-glitchy switches were probably what killed them in the end.
Replacement board(s) ordered. Once those arrive though, I think I'll reverse engineer the broken board and open source the results. Who knows what may result? ;-)

This is a handle on the back of a lorry which I snapped as we walked around the Red Bull temporary paddock in Milton Keynes. I thought it might make a good mono shot.

The knife blades are marked "MARDI GRAS STAINLESS." The backs of the forks and spoons are marked "STAINLESS KOREA."
I looked up the name MARDI GRAS STAINLESS on Google and found listings for this flatware on Replacements, Ltd. Apparently the line was sold by Washington Forge and came in a large range of handle colors.
Handle with care, lest you break it. Which I apparently just did. Damn it.

The Handle family of stools, by Fernando Brizio, are joyful, cartoonish creations that impress by both their simplicity and sheer brilliance. Fernando Brizio is well known for his colourful, eccentric style, and the Handle doesn't shy away from that premise. While staying faithful to his trademark, Brizio kept his ground on safe domain, choosing very sensibly for the lines that would compose the base of the Handle, made of an easy-on-the-hand fabric that lends refinement and a hand-sewn look. The choice of colours was not random either, a point made when, for instance, you place a purple Handle under different settings of lighting and it ranges from its original colour to a deep blue.

Rusted Gate Handle. I thought the rust colors with the shadows of the metal were so interesting. Asolo, Italy. Color photography by Donna Corless.
Am sort of collecting door handles.
Have not yet uploaded the collection.
These went up as a sort of visual rhyme with the howler monkeys.

I've always been a great fan of Nigella's wonderful jugs, but I'm not so keen on the effect one of her cups had on my nether regions. I was just about to take a sip when SPLOOSH - instant hot, wet todger as I was left holding just the handle. We bought several of these mugs but all the rest are now bound for the car boot sale!
This picture was taken in the Summer of 1977 with a Kodak Handle instant camera I bought specifically for a trip back to my old home town of Safford, Arizona. I had moved away in 1974, and this was my family's one and only visit (so far) back to our old home town. (Although my Mom got to go out there by herself with some friends in 1984.)
The picture itself is just one I pointed straight up and shot the sky above me. I was standing in the driveway of our ex-neighbor's and friend's house, Joe and Lily Urrea, located one house down from where we used to live on 15th Street. Sadly, Joe passed away several years back, but Lily just celebrated her 80th birthday last week.
Scanned this week, the picture is really starting to show it's age!
