Two birds, both have the same objective and neither will give way..

I did something new this time while visiting Homer. I took the Danny J over to Halibut Cove for dinner. Excellent food and after dinner we had some time to wander around the area. I took this photo from atop one of the hills above the very small bay and the weather was turning to rain. Apparently they have the only floating post office in the US. Most all of the homes are located next to the water and joined by interconnected boardwalks.

Founded by the Danish General Trading Company in 1771, Upernavik was their northernmost colonial station in Greenland. Halibut fishing is currently one of the main industries.

This is a shot of the large halibut, when I got him alongside of our boat. Now all we had to do was; quickly shoot him - harpoon him - and get him over the side and into our boat.

Halibut are brownish on one side, and pure white on the other. That is why you see a white reflection to the left of the fish in this photo.

There is no fish more delicious than a halibut.

This is a small fishing boat I saw while visiting Halibut Cove in Homer, Alaska. Halibut Cove is a beautiful community of people who live in this cove where all the houses, stores, and shops are connected by large wooden sidewalks. The only way to get there is by boat. We ate lunch in front of an open fire at a small outdoor restaurant that over looked the cove. While we sipped on our hot chocolate we enjoyed stunning views of the mountains, amazing wildlife, beautiful trees, fresh air, and some incredible homes. It was a great day. It would be an awesome place to spend a day or the summer. If you ever make it to Homer, charter a boat across the bay to this magnificent place.

The best part of this little trip was it was free. I met the most amazing family when I was in Brooks camp filming the bears. They told me to give them a call when I got to Homer. When I got to Homer, they gave me one of their cars to use for two days and then took me on their boat to this amazing location. It was such a blessing.

Halibut

Drifting through Uummannaq Fjord, I glimpsed a shadow; halibuts, gliding near the surface, where they should not be. These deep-sea wanderers, drawn upward by unseen forces, told a story colder than the Arctic wind.

The water felt different, warmer, restless. Glaciers groaned in the distance, shedding ancient ice into the sea. The balance was shifting, life adapting in ways we barely understand. As I watched the halibuts linger where they never had before, I wondered; how much longer will Greenland remain the same?

I found this old boat at Halibut Cove in Homer, Alaska. Halibut cove is a beautiful place with tons of wildlife.

If you have never had halibut pulled from icy Alaskan waters - you have really missed a treat. It is a pure white firm meat, without the fishy taste so many people dislike. Add a light crispy batter and it is a dish fit for a king. In this image you see the plate placed before me at "The Lighthouse" in Haines Alaska. (And yes - I did eat it all, minus the tarter sauce, and with just a squeeze of lemon.) People come from all over the world; "just for the halibut."

Somehow I forgot last night to add the place itself...
