It seemed like a big deal at the time, when I fed $5 into this machine, hoping to buy $8.40 in first class stamps, and it refused to take any singles. Then a message came up saying I had to press YES immediately or it would steal my money.
I kept putting $1 bills into it and kept saying no.
But I just had to fill out a form, give them a bit more money and I walked out with my stamps and a photo.
They should call this machine HAL. :-)

Oh you got to love the British summer
Still if it was warm and sunny it would be the Bahamas
Which is probably where all the passengers would rather be :)

An image from last summer. It's in the parking lot at Hal's Tavern on Belmont Street in Portland, Oregon. I used the weighty C-1 with is dedicated Packard shutter, and the Goerz copy lens. The exposure was around a minute, if I remember correctly. This image is very hard to print in the darkroom, but I use VC paper, and burn in the lit area around the logo with no filtration, and then switch to grade 3 for the bulk of the exposure.
Camera: Calumet C-1 with 4x5 back.
Lens: 12" Goerz Red Dot Artar.
Film: Arista.edu 100 developed in W2D2+ Pyro.

Showing to good effect its "Trenched purloin roof truss" and bracing which mirrors itself left and right.
The English vernacular saying "Spitting image" ( "He's the spitting image of his father") actually derives from this method of splitting a tree down it's middle to make a pair of identical roof brace's, so the actual saying should say "He's the SPLITTING image of his father"

Plaza Daniel Leo Blue Horse sculpture.
Orangestad in Paarden Baai (or Bay of Horses) is a public space art project featuring a series of blue horse statues in the town centre.
The project marks the history of the colonial-era horse trade industry that brought an economic boost to the island over the years.
Plaza Daniel Leo, the islandās tiny former main square, was renovated to feature curvy and colourful Dutch Caribbean-style architecture, an ornate fountain and eclectic blue horse statues.
Plaza Daniel Leo is named after a local politician.
