Like some kind of guiding light the sun was shining down at the end of this path so I stopped to take a shot. I was pleased with the result but decided the path needed further investigation. Another hundred meters or so and the sun was clearly visible behind the trees, an opportunity too good to waste.

TROPIC OF CANCER WITH SIMON REEVE - Programme Five: Bangladesh, N.E. India and Burma.
Author and TV presenter Simon Reeve continues his epic 6-part journey around the Tropic of Cancer, the northern border of the tropics region. On this fifth leg of the journey he travels from western Bangladesh across the Indian states of Tripura and Mizoram, and on into Burma.
The photograph shows Simon wading across a river in western Burma with local guides. Simon, director Andrew Carter and cameraman Jonathan Young, had crossed into Chin State in western Burma from a remote area of the Indian state of Mizoram. Their crossing was illegal and extremely risky, as the BBC is banned from Burma, a military dictatorship and one of the most repressive countries in the world.
The team travelled on foot to a Chin village, home to people from the 1.5m-strong Chin ethnic group, who live on the Tropic of Cancer. They discovered that Burmese troops are committing appalling human rights abuses against the Chin population of Burma, including execution, torture, rape and forced labour. There are more than 50 Burmese army bases in Chin State, and the Chin people are effectively living under a military occupation on their own land.
Simon and his team are among just a handful of foreigners to visit this area of Chin State in recent decades. When they heard that a Burmese army patrol had arrived in the next village they had to flee back to the Indian-Burma border, walking through the night to reach safety.
This Tropic of Cancer series is Simon's third trip exploring the Tropics - the region of the planet with both the richest natural biodiversity, and the greatest concentration of human suffering. During 2006 and 2008 he travelled around the Equator and the Tropic of Capricorn for the acclaimed BBC series of the same name.

Sabato 3 dicembre si è celebrata la Giornata Internazionale dei diritti delle persone con disabilità, istituita nel 1981 dall’Assemblea Generale dell’ONU per promuovere una più diffusa e approfondita conoscenza sui temi della disabilità, per sostenere la piena inclusione delle persone con disabilità in ogni ambito della vita e per eliminare ogni forma di discriminazione.
Per l’occasione a Desenzano, per il secondo anno, i ragazzi dell'Anffas sono stati “guide speciali” per portare i visitatori del Museo archeologico “Rambotti” alla scoperta della vita quotidiana in un villaggio palafitticolo di 4.000 anni fa.
L’iniziativa è stata promossa dall’Amministrazione comunale e da Anffas onlus di Desenzano in collaborazione con la Cooperativa la Melagrana e con il patrocinio di Regione Lombardia e Rete Musei Archeologici.
Al mattino alcune persone che frequentano i servizi Anffas hanno fatto da tutor nei laboratori didattici per le scuole in cui sono stati illustrati, e fatti provare, alcuni giochi di moda nell’antica Roma.
Le visite guidate aperte a tutti sono state programmate per il pomeriggio alle ore 15, 16 e 17.

We had audio guides, which would explain the intricacies of the Durbar hall and the Crystal gallery that we were about to witness. Every place you saw a marker, like that board with a number on it, just head to it and punch the number. Neat! (you'll see the device hanging around our neck, which looks like a cellphone, in subsequent photographs)

this is a sweet little guide to tenugi towels made by many differnent designers and companie. it includes photos of the towel's designs, as well as projects you can make using the towels, and ingenious ways to use and fold them. there is also a guide to shops the sell tenugui towels, with their address and websites. all text is in japanese, but you can thuroughly enjoy this book through the pictures.
You cannot really get lost in Western Australia, but it would be good to know if. The side effect is that planning becomes more accurate and you know when being in a serious hurry. As it doesn't cost too much, buy one.

The whole "turquois is a cool colour" thing that happened in 94 is just starting to lose its grip on saskatoon. I bet some poor soccer mom misses that bad boy.
