The downstairs guest room. Kramfor left hand loveseat from IKEA, Malm twin bed in black. Kindergarten felt green mid-century modern chair found on e-bay. The Soviet play poster for "Endless Bottom" above the green chair in the back was found in a ghost town named Jerome, AZ while crusing around with a friend. I love the intense blue of the water and the octopus pulling the lilly-skinned girl into the ocean depths. Gotta love the soviet playwright's sense of optimism.
I had a 'stop the car!!' moment when I saw this horse standing amidst a vast network of abandoned greenhouse frames (see below). I'm glad I stopped.
The front door of our villa at The Honeymoon Guest House in Ubud, Bali. We had a lovely little garden with a number of statues just below the veranda area. The detail in the carving of the front door was amazing, just so intricate.
One of the first things we did was to make a tiny guest room ready. We have already had a few people over; My mum was the first one to stay there and a few days later my sister and her two kids were here. It' s been so cosy and nice to be able to have them here. Now I hope my mum and dad are coming over soon....
If you came to visit, here's where you'd stay. This shot is inspired by this shot. A year and a half ago we worked hard to prepare this room for a bunch of guests who were coming to town for a big event. We bought the bedframe and side tables from IKEA and I had the idea that we would create a wall of family and good friends. We found cheap 5x7 frames from IKEA then I worked over what photos we had to create portraits of those close to us. Unfortunately we did not have photos of everyone, but managed to get most of them. Some good friends and family are still missing. Plus it's hard to limit the group to any specific number. One day I hope to finish it, but unfortunately a good reason (ie impending visit) is required to get me to do it.

This is really an "in-progress" picture of my guest/computer room. Still to come: curtains, bookcases and I have to bring the computer back in.
20210728-210327 Copyright © VW Selburn 2021: I have an unexpected guest in my hallway at the moment. She stayed overnight. She could be a stray (or not), and (found out later) is quite old, and has hung around the neighbourhood for over four days. She is painfully skinny underneath her fur. I am taking her to the vet soon. She was severely dehydrated and has drunk three bowls full of water since being here. She is eating ok. She is amazingly affectionate, and if I did not have Minnie, I'd love to keep her (even though I know I can't just take her off the street). I'll update with better photos when I know what is to happen with her after a visit to the vet. It was hard to photograph her last evening because all she wanted to do was climb into my arms for a cuddle.
Uninvited Guest: With the return of spring, I've been putting out peanuts to attract the cardinals. It looks like someone else has been making a lunch out of my generousity.

Guest and Chrimes is a former brassworks in the centre of Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The Grade II listed buildings of the former iron and brass foundry sit on the edge of the town centre, between Rotherham United’s £20m New York Stadium and the council's new offices on Main Street.
The company itself was established by the Chrimes Brothers in 1843. Brothers Peter and Edward were credited with the invention and production of the high-pressure loose valve screw-down tap. The firm rapidly expanded into sluice valves, fire hydrants and water meters and John Guest joined the firm in 1847. Following a very large order from Spain, the company moved to the present site in 1857. By 1871 Richard Chrimes employed 400 workers.

This is a guest room at one of three additional houses that comprise the Hearst estate. Known as the cottages, the Hearsts lived in them at stages before moving into the Casa Grande in 1928. This cottage, called Casa del Sol, House of the Sun, has 8 bedrooms, 6 baths and 5 fireplaces. Its size is just under 6000 square feet and is the largest of the three cottages.
Yes, this is just the guest house, as seen from the beach, of the Beaux Arts Mansion, Ocean Ridge, FL.
This is one of the six guest rooms of a ten million euro home.

My November Guest
by: Robert Frost
My Sorrow, when she's here with me,
Thinks these dark days of autumn rain
Are beautiful as days can be;
She loves the bare, the withered tree;
She walks the sodden pasture lane.
Her pleasure will not let me stay.
She talks and I am fain to list:
She's glad the birds are gone away,
She's glad her simple worsted grey
Is silver now with clinging mist.
The desolate, deserted trees,
The faded earth, the heavy sky,
The beauties she so truly sees,
She thinks I have no eye for these,
And vexes me for reason why.
Not yesterday I learned to know
The love of bare November days
Before the coming of the snow,
But it were vain to tell her so,
And they are better for her praise.
From "A Boy's Will", 1913
this is the start of my newest dreamscape, liked it at this stage ..so saved it before moving on with it.
