Never tire of their special appearance, colours and petals, in group or single.

Fragrant or not, it does not matter, they are just beautiful!

Here they are in combination with buds...

Have a wonderful day and thank you for your visit, M, (*_*)

I-Rock 2014

Retrato de grupo en Jaisalmer, Rajastán (India)

I can't say for sure which ship my grandfather served on. If he ever told me, I’ve since forgotten. In the photo, he is third from the left in the front row.

As you can see, he’s wearing a mustache. In the Soviet Army and Navy, mustaches were allowed for officers, warrant officers, also for soldiers and sailors from ethnic groups where wearing a mustache was a cultural tradition — Ukrainians, for instance. Therefore, the sailor sitting to the right of my grandfather is most likely Ukrainian as well.

Ukrainian men wore thick, prominent mustaches from time immemorial up until the early 21st century. Nowadays, mustaches have largely been replaced by a trend for massive barbershop beards and tough-looking tattoos.

The photo, as you can see, was printed on textured paper — apparently, that was also fashionable at the time. Such photographs are quite difficult to scan and clean from the marks of time. You also can’t sharpen them, as the paper’s texture starts to dominate the image itself. So I limited myself to fixing the most obvious defects, straightening the horizon, and adjusting the brightness and contrast.

I knew a birder who was a massage therapist. Some of his best customers were birders. And he always carried discount cards.

Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated across the country with a lot of fervour. According to the beliefs in Hinduism, it marks the day that Lord Rama — an incarnation of Lord Vishnu — had returned to his kingdom Ayodhya as the rightful heir to the throne, after spending 14 years in exile.

To mark his homecoming, the residents of Ayodhya had lighted diyas on a new moon night, and the light emanating from them had illuminated the streets and the entire kingdom.

The goddess is often seen with rage in her eyes and her tongue sticking out. She is darker in complexion and is depicted wearing a garland made of skulls or severed heads. It is said that Goddess Kali is a symbol of vengeance and annihilation of evil. In a fit of rage, Durga had assumed this avatar, slaying demons and other beings whom she deemed ‘evil’, wearing their severed heads to drive fear in the hearts of others.

In our tradition all walks of people enjoy visiting different pandals to worship and pay tribute to the goddess Kali.
