Update:Sadly, I didn't realize that the pointed head on Briggs was a sign of Masticatory Muscle Myositis. Glad that's behind us now.
This frame was digitized from the very same film cassette as the previous shot (the one with the car). My mother’s family, together with the family of my grandmother’s brother, went on vacation to the village of Zalizny Port, for a seaside holiday.
In the photo, from left to right: my mom, uncle Kostya (Konstantin), aunt Valya (Valentina), their children Serhiy and Oksana, and my grandmother Halia (Halyna).
My mom collected seashells on the shore and put them into a little a transparent cellophane bag. By the way, you might find it interesting that in the USSR there weren’t that many cellophane bags at the time — people reused them many times, even washed them (of course, they were much sturdier than most of the ones made and sold here nowadays). And if someone managed to get a foreign bag with some interesting pictures of the “bourgeois lifestyle,” they could walk around proudly showing it off, as a way of signaling that they were not like everyone else.
As for why my grandmother has such a funny expression (as if she was about to catch and swallow a fly) – I don’t know, and she doesn’t remember either. Perhaps the empty flask in her hand might be a clue; it usually held wine…
A very nice shot, especially for a half-frame format. Warm and sunny. I removed unnecessary artifacts from the photo and added some sharpness and contrast. Good old days…

I love when random opportunities reveal themselves in the streets of New York. They kindly asked me If I'd take their picture and share it with them via Instagram. I gladly accepted.
I snapped this picture of the young people I met randomly that are a part of NYC's deaf community. It was one of the coolest and most interesting moments I've encountered in the streets of New York.
I enjoy the color version of this shot but there is nothing like BnW when it comes to crew shots.
