I'll be the first to admit that the gray and grayer color scheme we've instituted in the bedroom gives it, at times, a macabre gloom. The Boy, keeping in the constraints of our pallete, added his own, not-so-dour touch to our bedframe.
Old house in Gray Hawk, KY., which is in Jackson County. Used Tmax 400 120 and processed in D76 and scanned with Epson 4870.
We went on a small boat tour in San Ignacio Lagoon, the site that is famous for people touching whales. That didn't happen for us, but we did get several very close views of mother and calf.
Gray squirrels eat acorns, pine nuts, and new tree shoots with a little fruit when they can find it.
My wife attended this school in the early 1960s (though of course she was not my wife at the time). Known as Arthur Street junior school, this building's proper title was Thameside school although that does sound a bit modern and "Thames Gateway"
This is looking down from beside the entrance from East Thurrock road. Interesting building detail but pupils were not allowed down here.

These animals are in the wild, when I see them I give them food and take pictures. In fruits I tie flowers, flag and I take pictures faster because they are very fast to remove clogs them in the food.

Gray Flycatcher photo improved in Lightroom.
We birded the Salt River this morning. I picked up several new species for this year, including this Gray Flycatcher. We determined it was a Gray, not a Hammond's or Dusky on account of the longish bill.

Gray Settlement is very hard to find on any map. This is an old train map.
Kenny (1984) attributes the name of the community in Howard County that is simply called Gray to Edward Gray (1776-1856), cotton manufacturer, from Bowera, near Londonderry in Northern Ireland. Since Gray is a Scottish surname, this suggests the probability that Edward Gray was Scots-Irish. The reasons for the naming of the other above-listed communities have not been given but most would probably involve the surname Gray.

The Gray Manufacturing
Company and the Gray home were between
Ellicott Mills and Ilchester on the
Baltimore County side of the Patapsco
River. Later the Kennedy’s took over the
home and expanded the house, including
an Italianate tower for Kennedy’s books
and papers. Factory, house and personal
effects were all lost in the flood of 1868.
The Kennedys were away and survived. A
picture of the gray factory and home can
be found in Henry K. Sharp’s book, “The
Patapsco River Valley”, page 76.

Patapsco (later Gray) Manufacturing Company
In 1813, the Patapsco Manufacturing Company began producing cotton yarn. It was located about one mile downstream from the "lower" Ellicott Mills. This mill was the first that provided a heated work environment for its workers. On January 21, 1820, it caught fire and was declared a total loss. It was rebuilt in 1824. In 1844, Edward Gray acquired a purchase option and renamed the complex the Gray Manufacturing Company. The Company was severely damaged by the July 1, 1868 flood, but it remained in business until 1888. There are a few stone homes along River Road and Frederick Road which remain after the flooding from Hurricane Agnes in 1972.

David Gray performs at Edgefield August 23, 2014 after releasing his new album "Mutineers". The concert opened with a set by David Kitt who returned to the stage as part of David Gray's band.
Three of these Gray Jays flew to near the entrance to Brown-Lowery Provincial Park, a few minutes after I started walking the trail. I was hoping to find a few photogenic fungi this afternoon - fairly successful, but it was so warm and muggy there. The biggest "excitement", when my heart stopped beating for a moment, was catching sight of a large Moose passing through the forest!

The inside word from Dr. Campbell is that he is opening a campus in High Point Soon.
The Scarlet Sage (Salvia coccinea), is being attended by the gray butterfly. These flowers are also attended by sunbirds.
