This beautiful dark wolf was enjoying lunch when we arrived at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. I believe it was eating a piece of meat rather than the fish steak its lighter-colored pack-mate found for its lunch.
I'm much more familiar with the individual citizens living at Montana Grizzly Encounter near my home than I am with the specific animals housed at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center just outside of Yellowstone's entrance at the town of West Yellowstone, Montana.
However, at GWDC the animals are clearly healthy and seem to be happy in captivity where they don't have to concern themselves with where there next meal is coming from or other risks of life in the wild.
The GWDC is a wildlife park that provides sanctuary for grizzly bears, wolves, otters, raptors, and other wildlife that, due to a variety of circumstances, such as captive breeding, would not be able to survive if released to the wild. The facilities for husbandry are superb, and the public education programs are top notch.

Ever notice how the teeth of wild carnivores (even though this one spent its entire life in captivity) are white and clean, compared to those of our domestic pets, who may have to go to the veterinarian at least once a year for dental care under anesthesia?

Gray Boy is a shelter cat, waiting to be adopted from the Panhandle Animal Shelter in Ponderay, Idaho. Such a sweetie.

One of the spoiled rotten squirrels at my mom's place. Please excuse the pun but the whole lot of these squirrels can get quite cheeky in swiping the birds' seeds and peanuts. But they give some great poses and expressions.

Fall and Winter are my favorite fashion seasons. There always seems to be some take on ladylike style and the cold-weather fabrics (velvet, silk, leather, suede, wool, cashmere, tartan) are just delicious. This season, I was pleased to see not only the dark tights/peep-toe trend, but a resurgence of thick, chunky knits. No longer considered too casual for work, I’ve noticed many of my coworkers bundled up in yummy pullovers, turtlenecks, and cardigans instead of the usual blazers or fine-gauge twin sets. I didn’t want to be left out in the cold!

The Earths color is gray, not black, not white, but gray. There is no in between.
Just as moods move so do the Earths color.
Fast and rapid making a never ending gray.
We've been asked about the light gray color that we've painted most of the rooms in our home and I haven't been able to answer because, well we lost the paint chip and hadn't written down the information anywhere! Now (1,5 years later...) it's found again and we're 99% sure that this is the color we've used around the house. We just bought 9 liters of paint in this color so I do hope that we are right! We're putting on a second coat of paint on the upstairs hallway and stairway walls and painting the basement room.

We had the good fortune to observe and photograph a wild Gray Wolf in Jasper national Park, Alberta, Canada at close range for several minutes. I contacted the Park Biologist for information regarding this individual since it was collared and am told that this is Wolf 112, a female from the Sunwapta Pack consisting of 4 adult wolves. There are 6 small wolf packs in the Athabaska Valley of Jasper National Park totaling 22 individuals. More information can be found here: www.jasperenvironmental.org/main-issues/wolf/
