Very early afternoon we stopped by a gate that was the entrance to some sort of private road that led upwards through woodland. We spent the afternoon there.
I do not remember how, but this grasshopper has a specific ID.
My first crack at close-up photography and quite pleased with the result - especially just using the nifty fifty lens.

I almost did not notice this one, it is only because he jumped I spotted him. Anyone knows his name?

Grasshopper warbler reeling happily today at Titchwell, my first ever sighting of this warbler, think he must have known so posed for me 😃

No idea on species.
Grasshoppers seem to be quite abundant right now and several varieties are keeping me busy, hopping like a kangaroo to keep up with them. Unforunately I can't ID this one either, it is not in my National Geographic field guide. This handsome fella looks even better on black. Wish I did.

A very dark grasshopper on the ground of a heathy area that was a controlled burn, Anglesea, Victoria. It seems to have a red area on the back legs.
Short front legs, no wings.
