I don’t give a fuck what your opinion is.

Stephen Harper, as cited in The Globe and Mail, 4 October 2008, page F6.

Anyone half awake could see that Canada’s 39th general election had produced a serious problem, and this piece had its conceptual beginning then, when, allegedly at Mrs Harper’s suggestion, images of Hubby with kittens were added to the Prime Ministerial website in the hope of making him seem less inhuman. The kittens however looked appropriately terrified, He still looked Himself, and most of the images were removed.

By the time of Canada’s 40th general election, the piece included a length of Tory blue cord. At that point someone substituted a blue sweater for the kittens, and the rest, as they say, is history.

With the passage of time it has become abundantly clear that this piece trivializes the stubborn viciousness of its subject. For that I apologize.

The title, from Hebrews 11:1,2 (RSV), reflects on how oppressive personalities rather consistently conflate malignant self-assurance with divine inspiration: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old received divine approval.”

I also hope the piece may encourage cat persons to reflect more on politics.

Graphite and carbon pencil on paper. I used two unrelated stills from the Hitchcock movie 'Psycho' for this one.

Sorry for the poor quality pic. I wanted to share what I have so far, but this won't fit on my scanner. The final painting will be very different dimensions.

This is a pencil drawing on gessoed watercolor paper and I will paint acrylic over it.

As written on this amazing object :

"Holtz graphited penetrating oil is a superfine lubricant with exceptional 'creep'. It will not only rapidly free seized and rusted parts, but 'carries' graphite into position to provide a permanent lubrification. In use simply apply freely to rusted, seized and corroded parts.

Mode d'emploi :

No sol ele fica bem gracinha!

Wish I had more time to shoot some nice macro photos of that.

Here is a little experiment with graphite. I just thought I'd throw something different out there. Sometimes a new media is necessary to keep me interested.

Before I repainted dolls, I used to draw a lot - especially cartoons. I have recently decided to revive my old hobby, and what's a better way for it than using my already existing characters? So here are some of my characters in an ink cartoon or a more realistic graphite pencil drawing form with their appropriate dialogue.
