This isn't in my sketchbook, but I'm posting it to sketch-a-day anyway since I gave it the time and attention I could have - theoretically - put into my book. It's graphite on paper - about 18" x 24".
Blogged here.
Taking art classes now. Thought I needed to learn something new. This is just a sketch with graphite pencil. I will get better, haha! Have a great weekend everyone!

The shell of the processing mill for a graphite mine north of Albany, N.Y., still stands nearly a century after it was shut down.
Ore was removed from the mine, crushed, separated, washed, dried and sized in successive stops as it came down the hill.
The mine went into service shortly after 1900 but the processing plant burned down in 1909. What remains today is the rebuilt replacement. It went out of service after only a short period of operation, when the price of ore dropped, but I can’t find an exact date for the shutdown.
The mine shaft remains open but is flooded.
I found this little container at an antique store many years ago. It's only 3" tall and says Made in England on the bottom and it's made of pewter. Even though I have no idea how much 1/4 gill is or what M.O.S. stands for, I just thought it was adorable and it had to come home with me. My African Violet provided me with the perfect accessory!
