Morning sunlight bathing a bunch of grapes in a white bowl on the kitchen counter.
Project 365! - 2016 - Day 095
Grapes were heavy on every vine, glowing in the unexpected September sun. Harvest was to begin the next day.
This is an HDR workup that I did on a photo that I took in 2011. Western North Carolina has seen a large increase in vineyard activity over the past twenty years. If you are interested, you can view my other NC vineyard/Winery photos in a set that I put together.
There is so much grape harvesting going on now and so much wine making. It's that time of year. I got a lot of pix of the grapes and the wine making. Maybe I should load more on flickr.
Apparently it's been a good year for grapes in the Napa Valley.
I hadn't taken the walk down the hill and to the end of my long spur road in a while, but I did today. These Cabernet grapes are just within grasp of hands and camera lens, through a wire fence. Mighty delicious this year. Must be nearly ready to harvest.
"Colui che non sa niente, non ama niente.
Colui che non fa niente, non capisce niente, ma colui che capisce .. ama, vede, osserva ..
La maggiore conoscenza è congiunta indissolubilmente all'amore ... Chiunque crede che tutti i frutti maturino contemporaneamente come le fragole, non sa nulla dell'uva"
- Paracelso - (da E. Fromm, L'Arte di amare)
"He who knows nothing, loves nothing. He who can do nothing understands nothing. ...
But he who understands also loves, notices, sees…The more knowledge is inherent in a thing, the greater the love.. Anyone who imagines that all fruits ripen at the same time as the strawberries knows nothing about grapes"
- Paracelsus - (E. Fromm, The Art of Loving)
I suppose that one could call this Grapes of Wreath, regardless of the fact that there are no grapes. One could, but, I wouldn't. This was a couple weeks ago. That snow's all gone. My sympathies to y'all living on the east coast. Stay safe and warm. Our Christmas break begins tomorrow with a half day party, then a staff Swiss Chalet meal at the school. If there's one thing the pandamoniumemic has taught me, it's that there are two kinds of days- Those when packages are delivered, and those when there are none. We're now facing the possibility of a month long shut down of school, instead of the usual 17 days. It's been a disaster for students trying to negotiate online education. My school is full time attendance, but public schools are a confusing, soul destroying, anti-social mix of attendance and online. Final exams have been dropped. Work loads decreased. Students are falling behind, and are suffering. It is vexatious to those who really care about their students. Rant over. I'll be posting some more before Christmas. Sorry I haven't been around.
Homegrown grapes. That is why they are so small. This is the first year I covered them with some cloth to keep out the nibblers. Pretty sweet. :)
