Doug Carn with Bordeaux and Dry Roasted Peanuts

Thought I would break up my Slinky Set with a flower or two.

I cannot believe that I have been admiring Grape Hyacinth images on Flickr for over a year now, thinking I had never seen one in real life...I have since realised that I must walk round with my eyes shut as I have a slew of these come up every year in my front garden!! This was a real dumb moment!

I am feeling much better today, glands still up but other than that feeling okay.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and well wishes.

Grapes from our greenhouse

“You are but a tiny cluster upon the vines of heaven, where the grapes are worlds; yet you hold the power to ripen your bitter berries and add to the eternal vintage of cosmic sweetness if so you will.”

--- Eden Phillpotts, Saurus

Our kids used to squeeze the grapes on the vine before they got a chance to develop. Now at 18 and 20, I have grapes to shoot. best seen large

Possum Grape, Arkansas

From Wiki

Possum Grape is an unincorporated community in Jackson County, Arkansas, United States. The town was named in 1954. For nearly two decades, residents were split on whether the name should be "Possum" or "Grape". Eventually, after much conflict and turmoil, a compromise was reached and the town name officially became Possum Grape.

The Mount Holyoke College Botanic Garden's 52nd annual Spring Flower Show was held this week in the Botanic Garden's c. 1899 Talcott Greenhouse. This much loved tradition featured an exuberant display of thousands of vibrant tulips, cheery daffodils, fragrant hyacinths as well as other Spring bloomers all set amidst and in combination with plants from the permanent living collection. And exuberant they were!

Grapes from the Del Dotto vineyards. These grapes are actually in St. Helena, the winery is in Napa. Great place for a tour--- they store all their barrels in caves and that is where they do the wine tasting, at the barrels

Hot summer days and the sight of "Fresh Grapes" on the vine looks so inviting.

Diese Trauben brauchen noch etwas Zeit. - These grapes need some more time.

Muscadine grapes grow wild across eastern North Carolina. They are tasty to eat and much wine, both good and not so good, has been made from them

The vineyards are packed with grapes. Surprisingly though, the air is not yet full of the scent of grape juice, grape jelly, grape jam or other delicious grape food or drink. Perhaps another week yet?
