Our neighbour is very keen on gardening and trying out new "things" and as you can see succeeded very well with his grapes. [Explored Sep. 22].
Traveling through the Loire Valley in France was delightful. I've never seen so many beautiful vineyards; the grapes were perfect and ready for harvest.
Photo Tip: shoot wide open (f/2.8) for non-distracting backgrounds.
I was surprised to find the vines still loaded with grapes. The owner of the vinyard said that over half ot the crop was still unharvested (as of 13Oct.), because of the daily rainstorms. Apparently this vinyard refrains from harvesting wet grapes.
On the left in the background, in front of the gorgeous fall-colored trees, are rows of cherry trees. This peninsula was once almost exclusively cherry orchards as Michigan is a leading producer of cherries, grapes, apples and pears. Though cherries are still an important crop, grapes are more and more commonly grown for the wines that are locally produced.

Thought I would break up my Slinky Set with a flower or two.
I cannot believe that I have been admiring Grape Hyacinth images on Flickr for over a year now, thinking I had never seen one in real life...I have since realised that I must walk round with my eyes shut as I have a slew of these come up every year in my front garden!! This was a real dumb moment!
I am feeling much better today, glands still up but other than that feeling okay.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts and well wishes.

Probably not the best tool to collect grapes, but the funny to drive on curvy roads at this time of the year !
