Oggi sono stata ad assistere alla vendemmia. Era una splendida giornata di sole e mi sono divertita a vagabondare tra i filari ricchi di succulenti grappoli scintillanti al sole. Ho scattato fin troppe foto... Dovrete essere pazienti e sorbirvene alcune!!!!!
Traveling through the Loire Valley in France was delightful. I've never seen so many beautiful vineyards; the grapes were perfect and ready for harvest.
Photo Tip: shoot wide open (f/2.8) for non-distracting backgrounds.
Grape vines cut from oaks. The vines grow upward draging the trees to the ground. To free the trees, we cut them at the ground, coming back after they've died to pull them down.

tomorrow we are going to east London to pick up Elsie from school (yippee!) and cook an evening meal. Back soon.
My paternal grandmother was a gentle woman who had many rules about how her household should run, and how her son's household should follow suit . . . so this didn't make for an easy relationship with her daughter-in-law, my mother. As a child I always loved these glass grapes (Abby and Rachel also have some as there were so many) and they were arranged in three bowls in her living room. I found them in the loft at home when Mum died - she hated them, but for some reason hadn't got rid of them. I don't know how old they are - my grandmother was born in the 1880s and I think she married just before WW1.
