An adventure in dyeing yarn so that it knits into a gradient!

My first attempt at a gradient nail. I only used polish I already had, hence the rather ungradual dark color. Ehh. Oh well.
Layer 1 - Sinful Colors "Purple Diamond"(sheer light purple shimmer)
Layer 2 - Essie "Lilacism" (creme lilac)
Layer 3 - China Glaze "Mummy May I" (dark purple with hot pink glitter)
Layer 4 - Sinful Colors "I Miss You" (purple iridescent glitter)
Layer 5 - Sally Hansen "Disco Ball" (clear base with iridescent glitter)
Layer 6 (not pictured) - Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
This pickup truck, owned by an older couple, had a truly marvellous gradient effect on the rear glass. Perfectly matched the overall aesthetic.
Haha! NOT a great group shot, but there was a whole row of family members taking their own shots before I was even aware they had assembled this group of winners. They had little interest in lookingat the camera, no matter how loud I shouted!
Anyhow, I posted this to show you how it came out after a minor tweak with a gradient layer applied to even out the levels from right to left.

Look, someone created a custom gradient in Photoshop and applied it to the landscape, maybe with a Soft Light blending mode!
Or not. Yellowstone National Park does color gradients very well by itself quite naturally - no 'shopping required. Of course, it did need some HDR toning to cut through the haze, but that's a different story. I love this place and hopefully will be back there this summer!
