We spent the weekend in Madeira Beach (near St. Petersburg, FL), and left yesterday right before they declared a mandatory evacuation. Hurricane Ian is headed that way and expected to arrive tomorrow.
This is from an Apple 48MP RAW format DNG file, processed in Lightroom (which doesn't have a profile yet for this sensor / lens).

Cruising down the Uxbridge Sub at Unionville, an old-school GO cab car rolls past the Stiver Bros elevator and the original Unionville station. Two pieces of local history restored and kept standing by the township.
After days of nonstop rain, the sun finally decides to show up, breaking through the clouds shortly before the train.
There is an advantage in being unable to walk as quickly as Ray and Sylv: I get to shoot different views.

A black swallowtail caterpillar seen a few days after the first time I saw it. Some body segments turned green as it aged. I looked for it again over the weekend but there was no sign so maybe it has gone to the chrysalis stage now.

A café on the outskirts of Shirakawa-gō, Japan.
Shirakawa-gō is a small village in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, known for its traditional thatched-roof buildings in gasshō-zukuri style. This style developed in response to the heavy snowfalls common to the area (yearly average snowfall is in excess of 10 meters).
The village, along with nearby Gokayama, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The villages have largely survived because of tourism; now, however, over-tourism is causing new problems.

Recent coastal visit revealed this opportunity to shoot a wide open image of the chains holding a trawler boat in place. The effect of the blurred boat in the background came out well with a clear link to the foreground interest.
Nice to get out with my camera again (it's been too long)

From the look in its eye this Female Goosander looks to have made a wrong turn further upstream, as she encounters some rapids on the River Ribble...
Well I imagine it is anyway having just come out of Heathrow this Thai Airways aeroplane was gaining height as it flew over .
Not sure what model of aircraft it is as I did not check flightradar24 at the time to make a note .
