Yes, Goblins, thousands of them, in Goblin Valley State Park, UT. Furthermore, they have a Castle. Here, the formation called Three Sisters with the Castle behind.
An irreverent man standing next to me announced, with certitude, that they were not three sisters, but a woman and her two dogs.
Real shame I did not stay here to get some nighttime captures ... the USS Enterprise would have looked great over this Alien Landscape :)
Finally found someone that brought my vision for one of my fantasy characters to life. She understood the assignment ♥

Wide View of Goblin Valley, Utah. My first visit. Was lucky to have some high clouds move in to help make the sky more interesting. Amazing place.
The genesis of the formations that make up the army of goblins involves wind and water washing away the softer portions of the Entrada sandstone, deposits of sand and silt from highlands that ended up in a tidal flat. Here you can see some regular banding associated with different layers of shales, sandstones, and siltstones, which erode at different rates, isolating some columns with resistant caps (goblins).
Like the wicked witch of the west, who was not particularly good at resisting erosion, the goblins eventually yield to the elements and melt, shown by the individual in the foreground who seems to have lost its protective caprock. Sometimes the caprock is pushed off by beings who seem not to value nature and who lack any moral bearings.

This week's Smile on Saturday theme is "Smile and show your teeth". I admit that I didn't really know what to do for this theme but yesterday I helped my mother in her garden and there he was, the cheerful Garden Goblin (in case you ever wondered where my love for quirky things comes from, this may give you a hint...). He has only a few teeth left but four theeth are better than none. :) HSoS !
