They should have named Herring gulls Gannets.

They're bully-boy gluttons.

This one seen in Hesketh Park.

An HDR of Parkhouse Hill near Glutton Bridge in the Derbyshire Peak District

When I was getting Bebe prepped to go for a walk I discovered that her collar did not fit anymore. She has been eating a lot recently because my other dog, Buck, had cancer and often did not finish eating his food. She is such a glutton! Luckily, I found an old collar that fits loosely around her neck.

A fistful of fear in my hands

A bullet of betrayal in my brain

No progress comes from pleasure

We smile in ignorance and learn in pain

Willful deceit was your plan

Desperately avoid the blame

Who will you answer to now?

Sharpened your shovels just to dig your grave

Stand up 'cause the ground is in your way

I won't give you any peace

Yet still, you talk

Try to fight, but I will watch you fall

Fall

This is sweet revenge

And karma's a bitch

You glutton for punishment

What did you expect?

Sick, sick, sick

I'm sick of being your martyr

Your inflated ego is just dead weight

Bask in all the eyes upon you

Before you know it they'll have turned away

Stand up as the whole world turns away

I won't give you any peace

Yet still, you talk

Try to fight, but I will watch you fall

Fall

This is sweet revenge

And karma's a bitch

You glutton for punishment

What did you expect?

Wait and see, cry yourself a lonesome creek

Your decaying corpse can feed the roots of my towering tree

Just wait and see

You're dead to me

Yet still, you speak

Trying to justify what you're doing to me

I will watch you fall

Fall

This is sweet revenge

And karma's a bitch

You glutton for punishment

What did you, what did you expect?

Wolverines are the largest land-dwelling member of the weasel family. The scientific name is Gulo gulo which is Latin for Glutton; an alternative name for it. They have a reputation for ferocity and strength out of proportion to their size, being capable of taking on animals much larger than themselves. Prey as large as Reindeer are taken, but smaller mammals such as squirrels and lemmings are more typical. Wolverines are generally rare and elusive, wandering over massive home ranges. This was photographed in the wild in Finland where the population is estimated at 155 to 170.

1.He is my little boy

2.His Name is Merlin from the name of the legendary Wizard. A tribute to all that legends and Fairy tales I love!

3.He’s a Hugs lover. He can’t live without hugs. Every people he knows it’s the first things he want from, a Hugs. When he wakes up the morning he wants a Hugs and this since he was little baby born. Cute little one!

4.He’s extremely smart. He is able to catch and memorize things that other children of his age can’t. He speaks already from a long time.

5.He has a very peaceful personality: no cry, no tears, no anger … a little bit sometimes but like every children.

6.He is very glutton. He can spend the entire morning eating his breakfast.

7.We like dancing and singing in the car together. Dangerous so we can't make this too often.

8.Here I got him with “Nounou” his teddy bears (Nounou is from Nounours (Teddy) in French)

9.He looks like me in so many ways: physically (everyone tells we are the same face) and mentally I guess.

If anyone is so crazy as to be interested, I set up a separate Flickr account to put too many photos fro the trip online to chow friends. Anyone who is a glutton for long slideshows is welcome to peruse it.

"Battling beauties!"

Here is my first series of "Hummer wars". Hummingbirds of all varieties are amazingly territorial and will chase each other to no end when they feel threatened or guarding "Their" feeder or flowers. Like many other small birds and mammals, I find the challenge of capturing these speed demons in pairs very rewarding. It certainly rates as one of the most difficult behaviors to photograph, as many of my photographer friends can attest to, but l am a glutton for punishment!

Dawn creeps across the valley from Glutton Bridge. Nearby, in the hamlet of Earl Sterndale, is a pub called "The Quiet Woman".

They have some great names in those parts of the country.

Having descended Parkhouse a bit faster than I wished (gravity and snow often cause problems) I returned to my car at Glutton Bridge, changed wet gloves for dry ones, dumped my sack and set off to walk up to Dowel Hall and Dowal Dale and onto limestone plateau above the latter. The dark clouds kept scudding over giving a few snow flurries, but in between the sun shone very brightly

Deep inside our Galaxy, at its core, about 25000 light years from us, a gigantic glutton resides, destroying anything that comes too close to it. Many stars orbit it, some so closely that it takes only a few years to circle the black hole, Sagittarius A*. This exact part of the sky is however hidden in the visible spectrum by many dark nebulae spanning the Milky Way, called together the Great Rift.

That goes with peanut bark and all at once inside ... :))

This guy devoured that corn cob in less than half an hour and was definitely looking for more.

Happy December 1st everyone!!

Ouch, lol. Well I asked for it! (Excuse my hairy hand!) Annual open day at Barry Buddon MOD camp, with its assorted habitats. All the local natural history groups enjoy their day of exploring on this special site. Clegs are always numerous there and since I accepted that being bitten was inevitable, specially when standing still trying to capture various insect shots, I decided I would follow some of my flickr contacts examples and take a shot of it feeding. I'd previously experienced being "stabbed" and I guess I thought that would be pretty much it, but NO, it was so much more! A sensation of a stab, followed by a mini slash, ok a bit painful. I thought once the mouthparts were inserted, I wouldn't feel anything, but actually I was beginning to think she had struck a major artery! Ok, quick half dozen shots with DSLR, but not easy one handed, since it was my left hand she had chosen. Glutton for punishment, just to ensure I had a record of the event, I also fished my trust Optio W10 from my pocket and dashed off a few shots with it too. Ooooh, still feeling the discomfort (got to be honest, it was sore, but I've felt worse). However trying to dislodge her was a different matter altogether! Would she let go? I didn't want to kill her, so after gently trying to brush her off unsuccessfully, I finally managed to slide a pond rush under her body and virtually had to lever her out. What a grip. How we laughed!!!

I wish all of my American friends a Happy Thanksgiving. Don't make a glutton of yourself! LOL

Wanting to change things up a bit for their weekly get together, Stormtrooper Bruce decides to have a Hotdog Eating contest. Winner gets crowned King Glutton for the Day. Looser has to clean up the mess.

TK-432: Dude! You know, I think this is the best idea you've had in ages!

TK-1110: There's no such thing as a bad idea when it involves food.

Fett: That's not what you said when Chewie and I had our Bake Off.

TK-1110: I hardly think booby traps disguised as donuts and cookies qualify as food.

Chewie: Chrrkgs pfftchng draacht?

TK-432: No, no one died, but I'm pretty sure I got food poisoning.

Fett: I heard it was a 24 hr stomach virus, so that doesn't count.

STB: Hellooo, let's stop bickering and finish this contest. You've been eating for hours and the food is almost gone. Someone has got to win this crown I made!

Fett: Sure wish I'd brought my Moron Meter with me.

STB: Probably best you didn't. It would have just exploded the instant it hit the doorway.

Fett: Not having second thoughts about this food fest are you?

STB: Possibly. I must be a Glutton for Punishment for doing this.

Fett: If the crown fits... Just saying.

Parkhouse hill just showing its top thro the mist near Glutton Bridge. Onwards to the next hill.

Gannets are seabirds comprising the genus Morus, in the family Sulidae, closely related to boobies.

The gannets are large black and white birds with yellow heads; long, pointed wings; and long bills. Northern gannets are the largest seabirds in the North Atlantic, with a wingspan of up to 2 metres. The other two species occur in the temperate seas around southern Africa, southern Australia and New Zealand.

Gannets hunt fish by diving from a height into the sea and pursuing their prey underwater. Gannets have a number of adaptations which enable them to do this:

- they have no external nostrils, they are located inside the mouth instead;

- they have air sacs in their face and chest under their skin which act like bubble wrapping, cushioning the impact with the water;

- their eyes are positioned far enough forward on their face to give them binocular vision, allowing them to judge distances accurately.

Gannets can dive from a height of 30 metres, achieving speeds of 100 km/h as they strike the water, enabling them to catch fish much deeper than most airborne birds.

The gannet's supposed capacity for eating large quantities of fish has led to "gannet" becoming a disapproving description of somebody who eats excessively, similar to "glutton".

Gannets are colonial breeders on islands and coasts, normally laying one chalky, blue egg. It takes five years for gannets to reach maturity. First-year birds are completely black, and subsequent sub-adult plumages show increasing amounts of white.

The most important nesting ground for Northern gannets is the United Kingdom with about two thirds of the world's population. These live mainly in Scotland, including the Shetland Isles. The rest of the world's population is divided between Canada, Ireland, Faroe Islands and Iceland, with small numbers in France (they are often seen in the Bay of Biscay), the Channel Islands, Norway and a single colony in Germany on Heligoland. The biggest Northern gannet colony is in the Scottish islands of St Kilda; this colony alone comprises 20% of the entire world's population.

Hi guys it's Alex here with a gourmet shot😋

Here, are the more gluttons characters ever made in LEGO : Shaggy, Bombur the Dwarf, Homer Simpson, Axl and Scooby-Doo😏

Food is a pleasure, try not to get fat lol...

So I decided to get on the ride and try for some fun motion blurs. I had forgotten how hard it is on your equilibrium to look through a super-wide lens while spinning in a big circle...and it only got worse after I took my eye away from the viewfinder. I am a glutton for punishment though...I went a second time and was sweating bullets by the end.

Shot at 1/5 of a second.

Don't get excited they're not back! It just describes how I feel at the end of a trying week of being very busy at work and trying to deal with it all when taking painkillers which make me act as if I am on satellite delay the whole time.

Just think the kittens are nearly 5 months old now and not really kittens anymore. Those of you on FB will have seen a couple of updated photos - my favourite being Loki giving his new owners' dog face rubs. They have also taken on a new puppy (obviously gluttons for punishment).

Pixie gave us a big fright last weekend by bringing in a rat! Yikes! Luckily it was dead and we just told her how clever she was before getting rid of it immediately. The blooming thing was nearly as big as she is. You have to say the little girl has no fear.

I am going to try and rest up as much as possible this weekend.

Happy Furry Friday!

Wishing you all a relaxing and happy weekend

A minute Pygmy Marmoset (Cebuella pygmaea) eating a super-sized snack.

Once upon a time - way back in December - I took a bunch of funny face pictures for folks and kept promising to post them. Then I got my new camera and got distracted by the pretty pictures it took, as opposed to these heinous little treats. But I'm finally coming through.

My apologies in advance for the nightmares...

Large if you're a glutton for punishment.
