Gluttons for punishment ? Having run at a damp and slippery Walterstone in October, Llanthony were back in action at Hill Top, near Bettws Newydd on 2 December. Marcus and Will struggle gamely on with their Yamaha/WASP. Point of information - Rob Griffiths on a JCB had to tow people IN to this meeting.
Gluttons for Nourishment now have a whole half of Tettenhall (or 'Ettenhall' according to the sign) Arcade - a testament to their excellent food and drink.
S$6/US$3.86 for 10. I got 5 of beef and 5 of chicken.
They have a fairly nice charcoal grilled flavor, though the beef was kind of tough. The sauce was okay, tasted pretty standard issue. Overall, nothing special satays, I'm sure there are tons better elsewhere in Singapore.
I tried going to two highly rated satay stalls at the Haig Road Food Centre today and they were both closed for some reason. Really sucked since I had to go out of my way to go there and it was pouring rain. I got completely soaked for nothing.

I realized I was lucky in the extreme, happening upon a bunch of these birds gluttoning on Hibiscus flowers at the pool. Otherwise those parakeets most often were heard whilst flying like bullets high overhead, in splendid silhouettes. OK, they didn't want me immortalizing them eating the flowers, so they dispersed into the greenery close by, but at least they still sat down!
First I got a photo of this straggler, you can imagine my problems to find it in the seeker, the Coolpix 4500 has a rather bad screen and all these green leaves with one tiny parrot somewhere...
Fired almost blind, a bunch of the shots were just leaves and no bird, but at least two had both bird and focus on almost the right spot. This is one of them.
After a short while the bird felt lonely and joined his posse that then managed to land on a branch totally open from where I was standing and they started preening a looooong time. So long that I had time to set up the scope and get the mechanic gizmo on so I could start digiscoping those cooperative birds. The other photo posted here, months ago, is a result of that session.

Not because I'm a glutton or anything (having a hearty appetite is another matter altogether!), but with room for dessert I finished my pot of chrysanthemum tea ($1.15) with a trio of dainty baked glutinous rice flour pastries filled with loose pumpkin stained custard ($3.65). There was an almost fried greasiness to the pastries (I suspect glutinous rice flour bound by shortening) - a thin crisp shell and a chewy moist centre (obviously aided by the fact there was a moist pumpkin-based paste inside). This was not too sweet and just enough substance to cap the meal.
Glutton for punishment - Paul Graves rode in the previous day's International, then came out for three more rides in the Pre-74 Clubman Class on the Sunday.

I would love to have some feedback on these images.
The Gluttons lay wasting away near a fruit-laden tree and a cascade of water. From the tree issues a voice that forbids any eating of the fruit and shouts examples of the virtues of Moderation.
