Up at 4.30 am this morning to get to Seahouses in Northumberland for the lovely 60 mile Great North BIke Ride down to Tynemouth. And look - as well as the shirt, they gave me a medal! :-)

My favorite Assam Laksa from my favorite Penang Assam Laksa shop at Lebuh Keng Kwee (same place as the Chendul place). Off Burma Road I think. or Penang Road. near Komtar.

The Glutton Dinner 2010

Ever wonder why we, as children, deposit our money into "piggy banks"? Pigs are often considered dirty, excessive, and gluttonous, yet as kids we deposit our money into them. Why not an Elephant bank, elephants are smart, careful, considerate of resources?

Truth is, most americans are pigs with their money and resources. The gluttons always need more of it. They need expensive things, nicer things. They need the name brand clothes, the top-of-the-line cell phone, the fanciest TV. They aren't careful with their things... they break them and lose them, or replace them years before they need to. Worst of all are the people who don't have the money but spend anyway... I detest those people the most. I will not be one of those people.

Not because I'm a glutton or anything (having a hearty appetite is another matter altogether!), but with room for dessert I finished my pot of chrysanthemum tea ($1.15) with a trio of dainty baked glutinous rice flour pastries filled with loose pumpkin stained custard ($3.65). There was an almost fried greasiness to the pastries (I suspect glutinous rice flour bound by shortening) - a thin crisp shell and a chewy moist centre (obviously aided by the fact there was a moist pumpkin-based paste inside). This was not too sweet and just enough substance to cap the meal.

One of my three favorite deadly sins. I was too lazy to post the third.

Parkhouse Hill (Derbyshire and Peak District National Park) seen from ENE near Jericho Farm and Fernydale, Earl Sterndale.

Parkhouse Hill (c.370 m) is a one of the most striking and best known features of the White Peak. It is one of a series of 'hog's back' hills, whose axes run approx NW-SE , lying between the villages of Earl Sterndale on their northern side, and Hollinsclough, Longnor and Crowdicote on their southern side in the upper part of Dovedale. Buxton lies c 7 Km to the north.

The summit ridge of Parkhouse Hill (running across the view, and seen in silhouette here) is strikingly sharp and arrête-like, like a scaled-down version of well-known British arrêtes like Striding Edge on Helvellyn in the Lake District. Though the crest is very steep on each side, especially on its northern, almost cliff-like side, it is mostly grassy with intermittent rocky crags. Even so, this is not a place to miss your footing or for anyone who dislikes heights. This view looks obliquely at the northern flank.

The narrowness and undulating nature of the aligned crests of this series of hills, along their long axes, has given rise to their local nickname as the 'Dragon's Back', and their summits are a popular but unofficial walker's trail. For many years however, this and neighbouring Chrome Hill were off-limits to walkers and naturalists because there was no right of way to their summits. They have since been designated as an Access Area and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). On the day we climbed the hill, the local farmer was welcoming and helped to point out the best route to the the Parkhouse summit.

The V-shaped feature between the two hills nearer the camera is Glutton Dale, a very short little gorge.

Glutton for punishment?

After 15 minutes plus a lap with the classics, Tim Dallaway is straight out again in the Twinshock 'A' class. Number 11 is Paul Chiappa?

I have always been a doll pack glutton. I'm not sure why, but the idea of more than one doll being sold together really tickles my fancy. This set in particular drew me in because it reminded me of my 2005 Bratz Collector's Edition pack Dad bought me when I was younger. I remember contemplating buying this set multiple times, but I finally cracked I think right after Christmas 2012, or perhaps right after the New Year. It's been a while since I got them, so I'm a little fuzzy on the details (I have a vague memory of the haul photo I had featuring these girls on my old Flickr account). I was a full fledged Bratz addict at the time, so I didn't wait for these girls to go on sale...although in retrospect, I could have gotten a much better deal (I'm still an addict, just a more patient one). Nonetheless, these girls are amazing quality, and they are certainly beautiful enough to warrant the original price tag (which I can't remember either...maybe $30?).

It's hard to say who is my favorite...it's probably between Yasmin and Sasha. I really love the way both of them are styled, and I think they have the most stunning faces ever. Sasha is a bit prettier than Yas in my opinion, but being that Yasmin is my favorite Bratz character overall, I like her just as much. Cloe and Jade are also superb dolls too--my sister and I joke around and call Jade, "Jadey Perry" because she reminds us of Katy Perry. All of these ladies were also sold with cloth purses, instead of plastic ones (which seem like the default purse style MGA likes to use these days). I love all the little details this line has, and I think they are all so glamorous. It's lines like this one that make 2012 Bratz one of my favorite Bratz eras (right after 2002 and 2013 Bratz)!

Hungry customers peruse the possibilities at Makansutra Glutton's Bay, an open-air center with a prime location overlooking Singapore's Marina Bay.

Mmmmmmm...donuts.

We couldn't resist that soft glow of the warm neon sign, beckoning us to come inside.

And that sneaky cashier was bold enough to offer a "free sample" of a donut from the previous batch... first hit is free!

The Esplanade was near my hotel and down the side of the esplande I came across this line for fast food kitchents called Gluttons Bay. I was wearing a Liverpool T shirt and we had just beaten newcastle. I was stood on abollard getting a shot of the seen when the two at the bottom clocked me.

Glutton, Kristiansand dyrepark. HDR produced with Photomatix from three very dark originals that were pretty useless on their own. There are strong artifacts on the glutton's head and on the tree trunk. A metallic look I think.
