Resistance training with Kinetic Bands allows for full range of motion and can provide significant functional benefits, helping you reach your goals quicker

Mirit Ben Nun: Shortness of breath

'Shortness of breath' is not only a sign of physical weakness, it is a metaphor for a mental state of strong desire that knows no repletion; more and more, an unbearable glut, without repose. Mirit Ben Nun's type of work on the other hand requires an abundance of patience. This is a Sisyphean work (requiring hard labor) of marking lines and dots, filling every empty millimeter with brilliant blots. Therefore we are facing a paradox or a logical conflict. A patient and effortful work that stems from an urgent need to cover and fill, to adorn and coat. Her craft of layering reaches a state of a continuous ceremonial ritual.

This ritual digests every object into itself - useful or discarded -- available and ordinary or rare and exceptional -- they submit and devote to the overlay work. Mirit BN gathers scrap off the streets -- cardboard rolls of fabric, assortments of wooden boards and pieces, plates and planks -- and constructs a new link, her own syntax, which she alone is fully responsible for. The new combination -- a type of a sculptural construction -- goes through a process of patching by the act of painting.

In fact Mirit regards her three dimensional objects as a platform for painting, with a uniform continuity, even if it has obstacles, mounds and valleys. These objects beg her to paint, to lay down colors, to set in motion an intricate weave of abstract patterns that at times finds itself wandering the contours of human images and sometimes -- not. In those cases what is left is the monotonous activity of running the patterns, inch by inch, till their absolute coverage, till a short and passing instant of respite and than on again to a new onset.

Next to this assembly of garbage and it's recycling into 'painted sculptures' Mirit offers a surprising reunion between her illustrated objects and so called cheap African sculpture; popular artifacts or articles that are classified in the standard culture as 'primitive'.

This combination emphasizes the difference between her individualistic performance and the collective creation which is translated into cultural clichés. The wood carved image creates a moment of peace within the crowded bustle; an introverted image, without repetitiveness and reverberation. This meeting of strangers testifies that Mirit' work could not be labeled under the ´outsiders art´ category. She is a one woman school who is compelled to do the art work she picked out to perform. Therefore she isn't creating ´an image´ such as the carved wooden statues, but she produces breathless ´emotional jam' whose highest values are color, motion, beauty and plenitude. May it never lack, neither diluted, nor dull for even an instant

So there has been a glut of gadget porn about the new Windows Phone Series 7 OS, which won't even ship until late this year. Yes, you heard that right, Windows Phone Series 7 (That name just rolls off the tongue, right?) will debut after iPhone 4.0 and whatever multiple Android phones come out later this year.

Predictably, the Microsoft Fanboy Commentators on Engadget think the Windows Phone is the "best thing ever" and a "game changer" even though none of them have actually seen or held a real Windows phone yet. And many of those Commentators have declared that they would be giving up their (probably fictional) iPhones once this comes out, despite the fact that it doesn't appear to have (1) Multi-tasking (2) an open App Store (3) Copy and Paste or (4) Flash on launch. Yes, basically all those things the MS Fanboys said were absolutely necessary for a smartphone OS are suddenly not so important when it's missing from a Windows themed phone.

In other words, no surprises here. After all, how many times do the same people on Engadget say the same thing about every new phone that comes on the market? Before this, the Nexus One was the phone everyone was leaving their (fictional) iPhones for. Before that, it was the Droid and before that it was the Palm Pre. So on and so forth.

But something struck me as I was reading an obvious troll of an article on Gizmodo comparing the new Windows Phone Series 7 OS to the iPhone. It felt as if I had seen the interface on this Windows Phone before and no, not from the drawing board of Jon Ive in Cupertino. It occurred to me that I had seen it in a less auspicious place, but definitely on the Mac OS.

It took me a couple of hours, but my slow brain finally made the connection. The new Windows Phone Series 7 OS looks like something out of Pages. Just look at that screenshot above! As you can see, one of the default templates in Apple's Pages app is open on the right, while the Windows Phone is open in a browser on the left. Look at the similarities! This is the design that the Microsoft Fanboys think is revolutionary?

Am I missing something here?

In this ad-glutted world, advertisers are constantly searching out unique new -- and sometimes old -- venues. Barns aren't just for hay anymore -- or those tired old "See Rock City" adverts. In the zips, upscale companies have discovered the hidden gold in rural sites for their high-class messages. Here, a Tennessee barn does tripple duty, helping Vogue, Jimmy Choo and Neiman Marcus reach a whole new kind of customer! (AdWorld, June 27, 2006)

Fragt mich nicht, was mich vergnügt

1.) Fragt mich nicht, was mich vergnügt,

Redet mir nicht von der Erden.

Jesus, der im Herzen liegt,

Der soll mir auch alles werden.

Reichtum rauben Dieb und Glut,

Jesus ist mein höchstes Gut.

2.) Zedern steigen nach der Höh,

Christen nach dem Himmel dringen.

Schnöde Lust wird hier nur Weh,

Erdengüter Sorge bringen.

Ein in Gott vergnügter Geist

Rühmet nur, was ewig heißt.

3.) Tausend Welten voller Lust

Zahlen den Verlust nicht wieder.

Ohne Gott ist alles Wust,

Glück drückt unsern Geist oft nieder.

Labsal, das die Welt und beut, (a)

Ist vermischt mit Herzeleid.

4.) So will ich beständiglich

An dem Himmel mich vergnügen.

Christen trachten über sich,

Herz und Sinn muss aufwärts fliegen,

Adler streben sonnenwärts,

Himmelan der Christen Herz.

5.) Nur mein Jesus und sein Trost

Gibt mir sattsames Vergnügen.

O, so hab ich wohl gelost, (b)

Tod und Not muss unterliegen.

Halt ich Jesum, Jesus mich,

Ach, wie hoch vergnügt bin ich!

Benjamin Schmolck, geb.

Benjamin Schmolck (1672-1737) was a German Lutheran composer of hymns.

He was born as a pastor's son in Brauchitschdorf (Chróstnik), Silesia on December 21, 1672. After attending the gymnasium in Liegnitz (Legnica), he studied theology at the University of Leipzig from 1693 to 1697. In 1702 he was ordained as a deacon at the Protestant Church of Peace and in 1714 as the pastor of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Schweidnitz (Swidnica), where he stayed for the rest of his life. Influenced by the pietism movement he became the most popular hymn writer of his day. His compositions include 'My Jesus as Thou Wilt' and 'A faithful friend is wandering yonder'. Schmolck died in Schweidnitz on February 12, 1737.

When I started cycling I was a jogger with a weak and flabby butt with some sciatic pain therein, so I did not want to use my glutes, so I flipped my seatpost 180 degrees for forward (not rearward as above) offset, added a long stem and jogged on my bike, pushing with my quads (thigh muscles) all the way around the pedal cycle like Road Runner starting off.

After 15 years my glutes got so weak, however, and my quads remained comparatively strong, I was pushing my legs out of my hip joints. After a month or so of glute exercises and putting my saddle and stem back to conventional position (with respect to the fore-aft position of the saddle which is now 9cm behind the bottom bracket as opposed to a little in front of it), my hips are feeling much better. With my saddle about 10cm further back compared to its previous position, I now exercise my glutes as I pedal my bike. Glutes I now realise are important for hip stability, posture, and also I think karate kicks. My karate kicks suck.

I still have an unconventionally large amount of saddle to bar drop because I am not all that flexible, nor all that thin, and prefer to ride with a straight, near to horizontal back as opposed to a curved back.

But, come to think of it, the high saddle too facilitates quad (thigh muscle) only cycling; I was using my thigh muscles to push to an almost fully extended leg. Glute (butt muscle) cycling involves spinning a more L shaped leg from the butt. I have put my saddle down 1 cm, at least until I have buns of steel.

Yes! My hips are feeling sturdy.
