Something new in my pantry. I bought this a few weeks ago and used it today to make a Mug Cake. It is a very mild tasting flour. It's got a grainy texture. This is not grain flour. The little tubers grow on the roots of grass and they are dried and ground up. This is very good for your digestion!

During my most recent physical therapy sessions, we have started making use of the inflatable balance/core balls for some exercises to strengthen my quads and glutes. Today, we REALLY worked them, to the point where I know I am going to be sore for the next couple of days.

I went and purchased my own yesterday at Target, and inflated it tonight when I got home. Several of the ladies at work have begun using these as their chairs - I don't think I'll be doing that for work, but along with the exercises, I might take advantage of it occasionally at home instead of my couch or chair.

Wenn matt der Sonne Gluten

1.) Wenn matt der Sonne Gluten,

In Eise gehn die Fluten,

Froststarr der Erde Schoß,

Wenn still in Winterträume

Versunken stehn die Bäume:

Blüht unter schnee'ger Hülle

Hold in verborg'ner Stille

Die weiße Weihnachtsros'.

2.) So blüht mir, wie auch immer

Bei deines Blickes Schimmer

Der Mund doch stumm dir blieb,

Verborgen unterm Eise,

Ich fühl es, — heimlich leise —

Die reine, makellose,

Die weiße Weihnachtsrose,

Die Rose deiner Lieb'.

Mirit Ben Nun: Shortness of breath

'Shortness of breath' is not only a sign of physical weakness, it is a metaphor for a mental state of strong desire that knows no repletion; more and more, an unbearable glut, without repose. Mirit Ben Nun's type of work on the other hand requires an abundance of patience. This is a Sisyphean work (requiring hard labor) of marking lines and dots, filling every empty millimeter with brilliant blots. Therefore we are facing a paradox or a logical conflict. A patient and effortful work that stems from an urgent need to cover and fill, to adorn and coat. Her craft of layering reaches a state of a continuous ceremonial ritual.

This ritual digests every object into itself - useful or discarded -- available and ordinary or rare and exceptional -- they submit and devote to the overlay work. Mirit BN gathers scrap off the streets -- cardboard rolls of fabric, assortments of wooden boards and pieces, plates and planks -- and constructs a new link, her own syntax, which she alone is fully responsible for. The new combination -- a type of a sculptural construction -- goes through a process of patching by the act of painting.

In fact Mirit regards her three dimensional objects as a platform for painting, with a uniform continuity, even if it has obstacles, mounds and valleys. These objects beg her to paint, to lay down colors, to set in motion an intricate weave of abstract patterns that at times finds itself wandering the contours of human images and sometimes -- not. In those cases what is left is the monotonous activity of running the patterns, inch by inch, till their absolute coverage, till a short and passing instant of respite and than on again to a new onset.

Next to this assembly of garbage and it's recycling into 'painted sculptures' Mirit offers a surprising reunion between her illustrated objects and so called cheap African sculpture; popular artifacts or articles that are classified in the standard culture as 'primitive'.

This combination emphasizes the difference between her individualistic performance and the collective creation which is translated into cultural clichés. The wood carved image creates a moment of peace within the crowded bustle; an introverted image, without repetitiveness and reverberation. This meeting of strangers testifies that Mirit' work could not be labeled under the ´outsiders art´ category. She is a one woman school who is compelled to do the art work she picked out to perform. Therefore she isn't creating ´an image´ such as the carved wooden statues, but she produces breathless ´emotional jam' whose highest values are color, motion, beauty and plenitude. May it never lack, neither diluted, nor dull for even an instant

Café Carbon is a musical performance that considers the consumption and production of food from pre-historic times to the present day. Gina Birch, Kaffe Matthews and Hayley Newman, aka The Gluts, performed Café Carbon in the streets, bars and restaurants of Copenhagen during the 2009 Climate Summit. Wearing strangely fashionable up-cycled carbon-coloured costumes, the group invited the public to select songs from an indulgent menu including; starter (Stone Cold Soup); main (A Grand Buffet); and dessert (Sanity or Madness). Geh' hin, mein Heiland Jesu Christ

1.) Geh hin, mein Heiland Jesu Christ!

Geh hin nach Salems Mauern,

Wo deine Feinde jetzt mit List

Und Bosheit auf dich lauern.

Geh hin, dein Kampf-Platz ist dir nah,

Die Leidensstunde ist nun da,

Damit auf dieser Erde

Des Vaters Zorn von Ewigkeit

Zu unsrer Seelen Trost und Freud,

Durch dich vollendet werde.

2.) Geh hin! und schwitze warmes Blut,

Lass dich die Angst entstellen!

Empfinde Gottes Zorn und Glut,

Und alle Macht der Höllen.

Herr, dieses Leiden tröstet mich,

Wenn mich die Hölle mächtiglich

Will peinigen und plagen.

Ja, dieser Kampf hilft mir in Not,

In Pein und Qual, ja selbst im Tod

All' meine Angst ertragen.

3.) Geh' hin, mein liebster Seelenfreund!

Und lass dich gerne binden,

So wird an mir der arge Feind,

Nicht leichtlich Herrschaft finden.

Herr, deine Bande drücken dich,

Sie sind mein Schmuck, und können mich

Von Satans Strick und Ketten,

Von Mosis Fluch und Finsternis,

Dies weiß und glaub ich ganz gewiss,

Und von der Höll' erretten.

4.) Geh hin, mein Heil und stelle dich

Den Juden und den Heiden.

Herr, dein Verhör, das tröstet mich

In meinem Sündenleiden.

Hält Tod und Höll' und Satan mir

Gesetz und Straf' und Sünde für,

So schützt mich dein Verklagen.

Dies widerstehet dem Gericht

Und Gottes Zorn, und lässt mich nicht

In meiner Angst verzagen.

5.) Geh hin, mein treuer Herr und Gott,

Und lass dich da verspotten.

Hier will man sich zu deiner Not

Mit Macht zusammenrotten.

Schmach, Hohn und Speichel warten dein,

Soll dieses deine Ehre sein?

O König aller Ehren!

Doch steh' es aus: denn deine Schmach,

Dein Hohn zieht mir die Ehre nach.

Dort werd' ich's sehn und hören.

6.) Geh hin! mein Gott, lass deinen Leib

Mit Schläg' und Striemen färben.

Durch dieses lässt du Mann und Weib,

In keinem Kreuze sterben.

Herr, deine blutge Dornenkron

Erwirbt mir der Gerechten Lohn,

Dein Rohr die Sieges-Palmen.

So sing ich denn in meiner Qual.

Ich steh' und dichte bei dem Pfahl

Der Geißlung frohe Psalmen.

7.) Geh hin, mein Seelen-Bräutigam,

Zum Ort der armen Sünder.

Stirb hier als ein geduldigs Lamm

Vor alle Adams Kinder.

Hier mache durch dein strömend' Blut

Den zorngen Vater wieder gut,

Und tilg' der Höllen Flammen.

So knien wir denn allerseits,

Mit stiller Andacht unters Kreuz.

Nichts kann uns mehr verdammen.

8.) Geh hin, mein Freund, und lass dich nun

In Josephs Grabmal senken.

Lass meine Sünde bei dir ruhn,

So darf kein Fluch mich kränken.

Geliebter Jesu, deine Kluft

Die heiliget auch meine Gruft

Und lässt mich freudig sterben.

Mein Hingang in das dunkle Grab,

Nimmt mir, wie dir, das Leiden ab,

Und lässt mich Kronen erben.

9.) Geh hin und steh' von Toten auf!

Brich durch, und triumphiere!

Geh, nimm zum Vater deinen Lauf,

Und neben ihm regiere.

Dein Durchbruch, Jesu, öfnet mir

Dereinst auch meine Grabes-Tür,

Und heißt mich zu dir kommen.

Da werd' ich auch, wie du, verklärt,

Da seh' ich, und mir widerfährt

Die Herrlichkeit der Frommen.

Thema: Passion

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Sidonia Hedwig Zäunemann (* 15. Januar 1714 in Erfurt/Thüringen; † 11.
