Shutterstock Captures the Essence of the CreativeMornings Community
Reality is not passive; we actively shape it with our thoughts and actions. Our personal universe is based on the stories we tell ourselves and the worldview through which we look out into the world.
In May 2016, CreativeMornings and Shutterstock (one of our global partners that makes our work possible), celebrated the theme of Reality.
Shutterstock surprised the community in 10 cities—London, San Francisco, Montreal, New York City, Vancouver, Singapore, Toronto, Berlin, and Chicago—by hiring local photographers to capture the diversity and backgrounds of their own CreativeMornings community.
Not only do we get to observe and study the work that was produced, but to also enter into the minds' behind the camera—how does their worldview shape their work and what do they hope to communicate? How do they use their lens to capture reality, and at the same time, inspire us to look into a new direction to change our reality?
We are excited to share the full album of portraits of our global creative community.

Cycloide investigates the boundary between order and chaos.
Drawing heavily from minimalism and op art of the 60s, the geometric forms and repetition of the piece create subconscious order which is comfortable for the viewer, yet the moving colour and light is Rose’s way of disturbing the order with chaos.

All hairstyles listed here are right on trend for 2010 spring. Just enjoy!
Hairstyle 1: Braids
Every pretty plaited permutation is on trend. "That's the whole thing about trends now—everything's a trend. We're trying to do it all," says Danilo, Pantene celebrity hairstylist. Evidence on spring's runways: Tried and true inverted, updo and fishtail versions ruled at Giambattista Valli, Rochas and Emanuel Ungaro, while models at Nathan Jenden, KTZ, Oscar de la Renta and Alexander Wang wore milkmaid, Pippi Longstocking, Heidi and girl-next-door styles. "Braids have been so popular because we have been using the hair as ornamentation, as opposed to using grips, slide combs and accessories," says Eugene Souleiman, Wella Professional global creative director and architect of the updos at Rochas, and Antonio Marras' dishevelled creations. "They look cool and are very easy to do at home."
Hairstyle 2: Bun
Souleiman said "it was to create something timeless and soft and sensual, in direct contrast to over-styled, hard "madame" up-hairdos." It was his crafted at Rochas and Dolce & Gabbana. Each swirled, twirled and curled strand reinforced that while spending time in front of the mirror is a must, creating perfection is not. "We are approaching a more stylish time in fashion and in hair. Designers and people are expecting more from the hairdresser, and they are enjoying our expertise and vision. Everyone wants to make a strong statement and stand out from the crowd."
Hairstyle 3: Glamorous curls
Needless to say, all women want to look chic and glamorous. That's why you should take the opinion of Souleiman who believe that natural hair or bedhead hair were no longer fashionable. On the contrary, manipulated waves were a mainstay on the runways, showing sex appeal with definitive movement and softly structured shape at Giles, Chloé, Jonathan Saunders and Versace. Besides, it replacd the traditional wash-and-wear hair of spring runways past. In Sam McKnight's view, "It's sort of a backlash against the boho, beachy look which shows that women are demanding more styled hair and products now."

Behind the Lens - Global Creative Photography Project :: Theme of the week is Opposites.
My advisor asked me to cover for him during his mechanics test. "Sure," I said, "but I don't remember any of this. If they ask me a question I'll have no idea what to say!" He assured me that all I had to do was to say something with utmost confidence, regardless of its truthiness. As I watched over the young'uns, I was reading an essay by David Foster Wallace. He uses so many big words that I had to write them down on the side of a spare exam to look up later. And, while I was pondering some of these words in context, a student sidled up and asked a question. I was in word heaven and he was in physics hell. Voila! Opposites.
(My other idea was to shoot something primarily green and something primarily red and present the color opposites. But I ended up not liking that.)

WIPO Director General Daren Tang opened the regional meeting of heads of intellectual property (IP) offices of Latin America on October 4, 2022 in Lima, Peru.
During his address, Mr. Tang invited delegates to write a new chapter of IP together.
With trademark filings from across the region growing, venture capital investments increasing, and Latin America a dynamic engine of the global creative economy, Mr. Tang noted that governments, businesses, and individuals across the region are paying attention to IP more than ever before.
Mr. Tang pledged WIPO’s ongoing support as offices across Latin America continue their transformation journey, including through the creation of new projects that bring IP to the grassroots, unlocking IP financing, and supporting the use of WIPO’s Madrid System across the region.
The meeting took place during an official visit to Peru.
