Straggler from the Cherry Blossoms I forgot to post last week - although given the weather here today it seems somewhat appropriate.

Given the disappointing results in gloomy natural evening light, I thought I would try the flash. This is on the whole a lot better, and makes it obvious that a particular problem with shooting PX70 in a Spirit 600 is going to be getting enough light.

Given the weather we've had lately, I shot the only thing there seems to be available to shoot... water. This drop was hanging on to a pear blossom pedal in our friend's back yard. I couldn't resist taking the camera gear over there for dinner when they let me know this tree was in full bloom, in spite of the weather!
I was given a discount massage voucher by a hipster looking Santa Claus around this spot. I may use it before Christmas Eve.
Anyway this is how Dalston has celebrated their Christmas tree

Guest-of-honor Nick Funnell (l) is given a can of Spotted Dick. "Some British haute cuisine to take with you to Portland." Emcee Bob Tupper (r).
**************
Brewers, beer industry members, and good-beer fans in the mid-Atlantic area gathered at Mad Fox Brewing to roast (and bid farewell to) Nick Funnell, a British-trained brewer who, for 17 1/2 years, had been the executive brewmaster for Sweetwater Taverns in northern Virginia. In addition to winning numerous awards, Funnell trained many brewers who went on to success at Sweetwater and elsewhere.
Funnell leaves for Portland, Oregon, where he will sell brewing supplies for BSG Craft. More: here.

I was given the opportunity this year to sponsor the Budget Savvy Bridal Show that was put on by Totally Beautiful Moments and MBT Marketing Solutions.
Just at the look of the crowd that nearly filled every available space in the building, I'd say the event was a success! I was blessed with the duty of capturing the event and manning my booth during the event, which turned out to be pretty interesting. It turned out better than I thought and I was able to talk with several prospects to say the least. Mrs. Peterson had to do some school work and be mom, so she was unable to woman the booth this time around. She owes me one!!! Here is what happened at the show. To see what happened on the Red Carpet, check out my man JMF Photography!
Stay tuned...more to come.

We were given 8 slogans:
It's Good To Talk
Sense and Simplicity
Because Life's Complicated Enough
Liquid Engineering
Your Flexible Friend
Hand-Built by Robots
Reassuringly Expensive
The Appliance of Science
We had to make an A5 booklet using illustrations with the slogans(photographic or drawings) to show our meaning of each of the slogans. We could do this in any way we saw possible. I eventually came to a theme of hands because I saw away to show a meaning for each slogan using hands in the illustrations.

This is the giving away ceremony. Here my parents led me by the hand and sat me on my husbands lap. Symbolic of actually being given away to him. And he is supposed to welcome me with sweets. Symbolic, again, of a sweet beginning. So that is sugar powedered with some coconut with a dash of cardomom for flavour. It tastes quite yummy.
I was given an impromptu tour by a fireman who was just proud of his job and eager to share. And possibly a little bored. His counterpart next door at Ladder Company 117 also served as an excellent tour guide, it should be noted. Thanks to the two of them, I finally learned the difference between an engine company and a ladder company.

These two arrowheads were both given to me as gifts. Of course I shifted them around for years, then on a lark took them to a gun show!!!!!! Was I in shock. They are very valuable and in excellent shape. One of the dealers made me a very nice offer. When I did not take it -- he asked what I would do with them. I said I was going to take it home and make a necklace out of it. He about passed out. lol I do enjoy the beauty of the workmanship. Even if the necklace became wall art.
Given to me years ago by an office acquaintance, returning from her honeymoon in Paris.

This has given me sterling service since 2006 when it was marketed as a relatively high-spec unit.
This state of affairs didn't last very long, as these LG775 boards were soon outgunned by those bearing "Quad-Core" CPUs.
The VRM capacitors dried out eventually and had to be replaced in 2022.
