1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

The journey begins with planting the seed and the day will come you will hold that wonderful gift in your arms. The journey will continue everyday of your lives together. There will be good times and bad, peaks and valleys but also filled with love, wonder and excitement.

Corrie and I have been without the girls this week (at Christian Camp), which has given us some extra time with our son. I have always taken such wonder in the way he reacts to the most simple things we all (adults) take for granted--The warmth of the sun on his skin, the sand between his toes, when he is genuinely surprised, when I showed him that his bike makes a motorcycle sound with a baseball card between the spokes, when he stares at a sunrise and asks me, "Papa, where does the sun go everyday when is leaves over there?"
He melts my heart, makes me feel younger, and reminds me everyday why to take joy in the simple things...

Macro Mondays theme: Perfect Together
These cufflinks (Gustave Sherman 'Senator' Cufflinks) belonged to my late father-in-law. They were given to him by his wife (my late mother-in-law). Now, they are a keepsake to remember him, who recently passed away a few months ago this year.

'Stone Monkey Looking at the Sea' is the name given by the Chinese for a natural rock sculpture perched atop a granite cliff in Huangshan National Park, Anhui, China.
I imagine before the air became so polluted there must have been a time that a distant view might be had from this high cliff down to where the Qiantang River empties into Hangzhou Bay, but now all the monkey can see is the polluted air.

A mama raccoon has given birth to four babies and is living under our shed. She here is approaching our house and watching me watching her.
Given the unpleasant sciatic pain I've been experiencing lately instead of swimming I opted for some retail therapy. The excuse is an attempt to reduce the number (therefore the weight) of gear that I take on my walks. Recently I've been a bit more disciplined - if memory serves, I have not acquired a lens since before the lockdown.
Sawley Abbey was founded in 1146 on land given by William, third Lord Percy. The Percys, Northumberland’s greatest family, remained patrons of the abbey for much of its existence.The help of these wealthy benefactors proved invaluable in the 1280s when it seemed likely that the monks would abandon the site: they claimed that poor harvests, marshy ground and the inhospitable climate made life at Sawley untenable. In response, Maud de Percy, Countess of Warwick, gave valuable lands and churches at Rimmington (near Barnoldswick), Ilkley, Gargrave and Tadcaster. With this new endowment the monks stayed put.
Their problems, though, did not disappear. In 1296 Stanlaw Abbey in Cheshire was refounded at Whalley, nine miles from Sawley, and the two Cistercian houses immediately quarrelled. Their lands adjoined and they squabbled over grain supplies and fishing rights in the river Ribble.
The feuding officially ended in 1305, but the monks of Sawley, the senior foundation, continued to feel aggrieved. Sawley was considerably poorer than Whalley: it was impoverished by litigation, the ‘cruel and inhuman spoliation’ that accompanied Scottish raids about 1320, and the expense of providing board and lodging to travellers – unlike many Cistercian houses it lay on a busy main road.
In spring 1536 Sawley surrendered during Henry VIII’s Suppression of the Monasteries. However, that autumn, during the northern rising known as the Pilgrimage of Grace, the abbey was restored under a new abbot, William Trafford. The rebellion failed and Trafford was hanged at Lancaster in March 1537 and the abbey immediately plundered of its valuables.
During the following three centuries all the high-quality stone was taken and reused in neighbouring farms and cottages, and many of the abbey buildings disappeared. In 1848 the first archaeological investigation of the ruins was undertaken, and during the 20th century the site was taken into the care of the state, cleared of debris and conserved.

The steel loading now travelling on this train obviously warrants the extra locos to get the heavy train over the hills. Doncaster is a large market town in South Yorkshire, England. Together with its surrounding suburbs and settlements, the town forms part of the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster, which had a mid-2014 est. population of 304,185. The town itself has a population of 109,805. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Doncaster is about 20 miles (30 km) from Sheffield, with which it is served jointly by an international airport, Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield in Finningley. The Isetta is an Italian-designed microcar built under license in a number of different countries, including Spain, Belgium, France, Brazil, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Greenfinch Notes:-
The greenfinch is one of Europe’s most widely distributed birds, breeding from the Mediterranean to the arctic, but absent from Iceland.
Since the 1950s it has become increasingly common in towns and villages, nesting in parks and gardens.
It has spread north in Scandinavia in recent years, a move thought to be due to the increasing popularity of garden bird feeding.
Few birds show as much enthusiasm for feeders as this finch, and peanuts, sunflowers and other seeds readily attract it.
Though it generally feeds in groups or small flocks, large autumn gatherings of several hundred birds are not uncommon.
Ringing has shown that individual birds will move 2000km, but British breeding birds seldom move more than 20km from their birthplace.
Ringing has also proved that numbers of greenfinch from the Norwegian population move to British in the winter.
Greenfinches are sociable birds, and often feed in company with other ground-foraging species, including tree sparrows, linnets, yellowhammers and reed buntings.
The song flight of the cock is distinctive: he flies with slow deep wing beats, singing continuously.
British birds generally start breeding in early April, with their first clutches complete by the end of the month.
The clutch consists of four to six eggs, and incubation takes 11-15 days, with fledging taking place 14-18 days later.
Two broods are usually attempted by each pair.
Young greenfinches can be confusing to identify as they lack the distinctive yellow on their primaries and tail that the adults show.
The plumage of adult male greenfinches from northern Europe is olive-green and yellow, and only looks bright in sunlight. Birds from south-eastern Europe tends to be distinctively brighter.
In Victorian times considerable numbers used to be caught for the cage-bird trade by trappers using clap nets, but they were never as popular as goldfinches or linnets.
These finches have been widely introduced to other countries, and today they are well established in south-east Australia, including Tasmania, both the North and South Islands of New Zealand and in Uruguay and Argentina.
There has been a marked decline in the British population since 2006 due to Trichomonosis. This is the name given to a disease caused by the protozoan parasite Trichomonas gallinae.
Birds suffering from Trichomonosis appear lethargic and puffed-up and have difficulty swallowing food. Death can take days, but sometimes weeks.
Trichomonosis is spread by birds sharing dirty feeders or drinking water; strict hygiene, including regular cleaning of feeders and disinfecting the ground under feeders, will help prevent outbreaks of the disease.
There are four closely related species of greenfinch found in south-east Asia: the oriental, Himalayan, Vietnamese and black-headed.
Nearly all the local names for the greenfinch refer to its colour. They include green linnet and green grosbeak. Living with birds notes.

I was given a camera for free by my Grandpa, and I decided to give it a try today.

Given our huge amount of rain lately, weeds have taken over in places. The scaly-breasted munias (lots of them :-)) are happy about that. We don't spray, so they will have plenty of food until we get around to pulling the weeds.
Given the Pope's recent passing, it seems fitting to finally get around to uploading this photo which depicts the beautiful interior & stained glass windows of the Notre Dame chapel, Ile Callot, Brittany (best viewed large).
Looking back at this, nearly 4 years on from taking it, the yellow & blue light on the floor caught my eye for the first time. Let us hope sense prevails & the suffering of the brave Ukrainian people soon ends.

Given that Brisbane's city centre is more or less jammed onto a peninsula or point where the Brisbane River wraps itself around the city like two sides of a triangle, it is also surrounded by three large parklands, the City Botanic Gardens, Southbank and Roma Street Parkland. Many views of the"town" are predicated by parks and gardens.
We are still in Roma Street Parkland here (and will be for a few more days), the scene in the distance being more the western edge of the Central Business District.
Roma Street has a diverse range of water features and flora and in particular, because it has a lot of garden beds is the most colourful in that regard of the three. A larger 4th parkland, Victoria Park on the outer edge of the city has been controversially declared the site of the main stadium for the 2032 Olympic Games and work will commence later in the year clearing much of the park of its trees (and animals no doubt) to allow construction to begin.
I have an awful feeling that despite a railway including the new Cross River Rail link and major roadways pass the site, fitting all this stuff in will create a nightmare for people and traffic. Wooloongabba Stadium ("The Gabba", think cricket and AFL) was originally to be redeveloped as the site for the main Olympic stadium but was dropped after protests and other issues - it is now slated to be torn down in due course and renewed as urban development. That will be the end of an era for Brisbane as it is an iconic cricket ground.
