A Ghost Crab on the beach. This one is about 5 inches from side to side. In an instant they can disappear below the sand. When they choose to run rather than hide they are incredibly fast as the scamper sideways across the sand.
The full moon lends a ghostly appearance to dead juniper trees in the high Idaho desert. This was taken in early March, and probably the coldest night I've spent sleeping on the ground for about 40 years.
I think I've forgotten how to leave my bedroom.

JUST SOUTH OF LAKE ISABELLA in Bodfish, California sits a collection of old mining buildings arranged around a large courtyard. These ramshackle structures date as far back as the 1850s.
Smith Mine, Bear Creek, Montana. On our recent visit to Yellowstone we stayed in Red Lodge, MT which happened to be close to Bear Creek. Had to checkout the ghost mine....site of the worst mine disaster in Montana.
