I just watched the fireworks on TV. They are certainly spectacular, but in my opinion go on for too long. By the time of the big finale, there is so much smoke around that it is hard to see the Harbour Bridge in all it's glory. Maybe it is different when you are actually on the harbour watching them unfold.

This photo is from New Year 2011 when we watched the fireworks from a friend's unit overlooking the harbour. It was magical, but then we had to make our way home which took over two hours.

Another shot of the beautiful Highland cattle bull that is in a paddock near Blair Castle.

I took this at Easter, where despite the murkiness of the sky, it was really warm and I am beginning to think that was our one and only shot of having a Summer this year!

Bit of a stiff breeze blowing which gave me the wave action I love, but I seem to recollect in the dim recesses of my mind that they may have been a storm way out in the Atlantic and we were getting the tail end of it.

Sadly I cannot trot to the breakwater now to get my head on shots of the waves breaking as it is too far for me to walk, but getting a side on shot isn't too bad as I get to see the explosive elements in the wave.

The couple on the breakwater actually give a great perspective of how big the wave actually is, but they certainly are not local because not even I stood on the breakwater when the waves were this big.

I do have sensible moments sometimes!!

We are on the road again. Peter wanted to see an Arms Fair in Victoria, so we left this morning and are now spending the night before heading into Victoria tomorrow.

52 weeks of photos challenge - this week the theme is Texture.

This is my photo for the 52 in 2014 group - #24 Stripes.

Three miles east of Aberfoyle in the heart of the Trossachs is the Lake of Menteith, a regular feature in Scottish trivia quizzes as the answer to the question "What's the only lake in Scotland?" It is arguable that the correct answer to that question is that there are no lakes in Scotland: there just happens to be a loch called "The Lake of Menteith".

You can catch a small ferry from the Historic Scotland Pier for a seven minute trip to the island of Inchmahome, to visit Inchmahome Priory. You are unlikely to be alone on the lake: it is common to find it dotted with small green motor boats occupied by fishermen in tweeds and Barbour jackets.

When we were watching the elephant herd at the waterhole in Addo Elephant Park, some of the young males put on a show of push and shove for us. It was entertaining to watch but probably not in earnest, just trying to show who was the boss.

I was taking photos of the Pelican sitting on the light when it began carrying at the other Pelican flying in. The other Pelican didn't care and landed anyway LOL.

This is my photo for the challenge - 52 in 2015, #52 - Vanishing Point. It was taken on our recent trip to Shepparton in Victoria. I remembered from a previous trip this road that went past our friend's house in Kyabrim and thought that it would be a good photo for the theme.

I thought I would go back to my Africa photos for a while. It is only 5 months until our next trip, so I had better finish my African album before then. I spotted this squirrel on our way out of Pilanesberg Game Park late one afternoon. We will be heading over to the UK in August for 8 weeks.

Each day we were in Pilanesberg Game Park, we called into this hide where there was always a variety of water birds. On this particular day a lovely Spoonbill flew in for a visit.

I love this lighthouse - Happisburgh lighthouse (pronounced Haisbro) in Happisburgh, Norfolk.

Is it just my computer, or does Flickr take a few seconds to focus on the photos properly? They look out of focus for a few seconds to me.

These little native bees are so tiny - around the size of a small house fly. When I first saw them a while back I did think that they were flies, but on uploading the photo saw that they were indeed little bees.

Yes, another Highland Cow - I love them. I spotted two cows today on the way to MacDuff in Scotland and just had to stop for photos.

This is a little angel decoration made by my grandson around 11 years ago when he was in pre-school.

Everywhere we travelled the fields were full of these rolls of straw - getting ready for the long, cold Winter. We also saw many square bales all stacked on top of each other - impressive.

This is my photo for the 52 in 2015 challenge - #35 A spiral or swirl.

The countdown is on until we leave on our next adventure - 14 weeks today and we will be on our way to the UK.

This is my photo for the 52 in 2015 Challenge - #25 - A Beatiful View. This is a view of the Blue Mountains taken from Echo Point on a lovely sunny day.

The Blue Mountains is a rugged region west of Sydney in Australia’s New South Wales. Known for dramatic scenery, it encompasses steep cliffs, eucalyptus forests, waterfalls and villages dotted with guesthouses, galleries and gardens. Katoomba, a major town in the area, borders Blue Mountains National Park and its bushwalking trails. Echo Point affords views of the storied Three Sisters sandstone rock formation.

The Greater Blue Mountains Area consists of 10,300 square kilometres (4,000 sq mi) of mostly forested landscape on a sandstone plateau 60 to 180 kilometres (37 to 112 mi) inland from the Sydney central business district. The area includes vast expanses of wilderness and is equivalent in area to almost one third of Belgium, or twice the size of Brunei.

Decided to do a fog series, although I will limit it to three as I want to go back to my Scottish photos that I took in November.

I really am so lucky to have such a dramatic coastline as my playground, but foggy days are a bit of a rarity as its usually blowing a gale force wind!

I stood here for ages listening to the waves wallop the base of the cliff below me.

At this point, the waves tend to form a couple of feet away from the cliff and they really do pack a punch. As these cliffs are made of limestone some interesting shapes have formed.

Loads of surfers down by the beach area, just past where my photo ends. I cannot believe they were in the water in March even if it was a mild day!

Breed them tough here in Northern Ireland!!

EXPLORE NO.ONE.THANK YOU EVERYONE!! MORE THAN STUNNED AT TWO IN A ROW

Most of the Heather was fading as we drove around Scotland, but I managed to fid this patch of beautiful colour.

It is amazing that something so comical on land can be so graceful in the air - I love watching them seemingly float past.

I received some bad news yesterday - my brother has still been having falls since coming home from hospital after breaking his leg a while back. He has only just come home again after being in hospital over Easter with pneumonia after a fall where he was not found for a few hours and he had another fall yesterday and broke his leg again. He needs to go into full time care, but so far refuses to do so, but I think the time has come. It is such a worry for myself and my other brother as we live so far away.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. Special thoughts to those whose mums aren't with us and also the mums with babies not in their arms. They live forever in our hearts.

A butterfly that I saw in the Butterfly House at Longleat.

This is my photo for the 52 in 2015 Challenge - #37 - Repetition.

Some of the beautiful Autumn colour we saw when driving around the UK.

A big scarecrow we spotted on the way to Goodrich Castle in Herefordshire.

I managed to sneak up on this Spectacled Weaver that was sitting in a tree when we stopped at a lookout in Addo Elephant Park.

Today it is cold inside, but outside in the sun it is lovely. I walked around the neighbourhood and stood for a while watching the bees on my neighbour's Lavender.

5 weeks today we will be in the air on our way to the UK. I hope to see many Highland Coos (my favourite cows).

We called in to Lower Sabie rest camp for lunch and as I was walking down to the restaurant, I spotted this beautiful lizard on a tree. I moved closer expecting it to scurry away, but it stayed for a few photos. I have googled and think it is an Agamid lizard.

Another beautiful butterfly from the Butterfly Park at Longleat House.

Two more nights in the UK - sad in one way that our holiday is coming to an end, but glad to be heading home again. Not glad to be heading home to extreme temperatures of 38-39C even though it is not officially Summer until the 1st December.

We watched this mother and baby zebra for a while. The baby was trying to feed and the mother kept pushing it away. After a bit of a squabble, the mother allowed the baby to drink. Maybe the baby is getting old enough to go on it's own, or maybe the mother is about to have another foal.

The walking stick caught my attention. Beautifully carved.

Our internet is really slow, so I am having problems commenting, but I am looking at everyone's photos.

I was in the garden taking photos of the little yellow and black ladybirds on my Dahlia plant, when this one decided to take off. Sadly I didn't have my shutter speed up high enough, but I am still happy with the shot.

Peter tells me it is a young cow buffalo. We saw this huge herd walk down the road in Kruger. They surrounded the car, and although they seemed curious, we didn't feel threatened at all. We just had to wait along with a few more people to wander off into the bushes.

We drove to this waterhole on three different days and found rhinos laying nearby each time. It was normally in the middle of the day, so it was probably a good place to have a drink and then a snooze.

We had a week in a chalet opposite the water in West Bay, Dorset. There were many spectacular sunsets that week and as we were just across the road, easy for me to photograph.

One from the other day - just caught him coming into view.

My brother spent the night in ICU due to having continuing seizures. I spoke to him this morning and he sounded okay, although still a little groggy. I don't know what the future holds for him, especially if his broken leg doesn't heal as he has difficulty getting around already with his balance problems.

It is still my daughter's birthday here in the UK and I did promise her that I would return to Flickr and post a photo before day's end.

I am going to keep this one short and sweet and my next photo I will explain why I disappeared.

As always my drama queen health is the culprit!

EXPLORED. NO 470

When we were in Rustenberg, we called in to see some friends who have a Dorper sheep farm. When we were there two years ago they had an orphan Impala baby that they were looking after and now it has grown and is a treasured pet. I was taking photos and as you can see, it was very curious about the camera LOL.

On our travels around the UK we found that some journeys took twice as long as they should due to roadworks. We drove to the Isle of Skye on an overcast day passing beautiful scenery (and lots of roadworks LOL). Of course I had to stop at my favourite place of all time - Eilean Donan Castle. I have done a lot of research of places to visit during our travels and I am happy to share it with anyone who is planning a trip but are unsure of where to go.

Beautiful male Kudu in the afternoon sun as we were leaving Kruger one afternoon.
