Skogafoss waterfall in South Iceland on an extremely stormy day. Within instants the lenses and ourselves were wet and eyes and nose were suffering freeze symptoms :p

This is what happens when you think you get a great angle of the massive waves crashing into the wall at Teignmouth. I was fairly confident that I would be missed by the onslaught....this photo is the hilarious proof that I wasn't :-P My poor camera really had to suffer in the last few weeks: First dropped in the sand and now drenched in sea water....

In hindsight it's funny that I did not flinch but stoically held my ground even when the wave spilled over me...

The mists lay thickest in this gully for some reason. I wanted to stay and take more photos but a steady rain began to fall and I was forced to look for better shelter. The canopy was thin here.

Landscape photography is a lot about luck. You're lucky if you find right location, get the right weather conditions, find a good angle, remember all the right equipment, get the right settings on the camera and get the subject in focus. On this occassion however, I was mainly lucky just for turing up at the right time. A few minutes earlier and this spot would have been inaccessible; a few later and the sea would have retreated, leaving little to no misting on the groynes.

It's fun time for the kids at Queen Elizabeth Park, Vancouver B.C. Canada. This boy is thoroughly enjoying himself while maneuvering between these water fountains without getting himself wet :-)

For this interested I wrote my thoughts about the Eagle Creek Fire on our Photo Cascadia blog. I also included quite a few photos and short stories behind them. Feel free to check it out...

From hiking in the woods last weekend. Just your classic stream and fall forest photo. The indirect light filtering into the open space above the creek and through the surrounding trees made for some inviting scenes for most of the day. I did step into the water for one photo I was after and I will say my legs went numb in a few minutes. Very refreshing though!

I know many are truly enjoying this long stretch of warm sunny days. I am definitely making the best of it yet the downside is forest fire season won't end. It's time for the rain to arrive!

I lifted this shot from Facebook. I don't know who took it but I do know that is my nephew, Armand, with arm held high. And that's his daughter, Jada, wearing glasses and a HUGE smile.

Another one from playing in the rain yesterday....

I was getting fairly wet at this stage... lol

I always enjoy getting my feet wet in the cold spring water while photographing waterfalls and streams surrounded by foliage as lush as it gets. Wandering around Southern Washington as the end of Spring turns into Summer.

Looking at her face ...... yes it's fun!

Watched these for a while sailing in Port Erin bay while my family were swimming. It looked like hard work keeping them upright! There was a little breeze making things a little hard. Think they were learning to sail.

How much would you risk to get the shot?

During a frighteningly strong March storm, a photographer seeking the shot probed deep into the surf zone at Couquille Point in Bandon, Oregon.

In addition to the camera ould you risk the rest of your gear by wearing the backpack?

Laos wet season runs from around May to October, and as with many Southeast Asian countries, the wet season is characterised by a downpour for a few hours each day rather than all-day torrential downpours. While the rainy season tends to strike Laos pretty much, in such forestry area the higher you are, the more rain you get. August is the wettest month. All in all, land transport during Laos wet season can be slow and soggy. Laos pretty mountainous lends itself to landslides, some minor, some not-so-minor. Also, with all this rainfall, the rivers can become beastly and delays due to bridges being down are not uncommon. Don't be surprised if your trip takes longer than expected. There are some advantages of this season which are lower temperatures, cleaner air and it's very quiet.

On this rainy morning there is not much to do in Pakse - South of Laos. The relaxed atmosphere was perfect for unwinding, resting in my hammock on my balcony and reading my Laos travel book, a break from the fast pace of the outside world. But I did have to go back inside to get my camera. I just had to take this photo of the different shapes of the mighty Mekong stream along with the heavy rainfall. The rain doesn't seems to border the fisherman at all.

The flat plains and rice fields in the South of Laos appear to be nearly endless. The hot sun, torrential rain and hard work in the fields definitely takes its toll on the people. They enjoy their breaks, take life slowly, and somehow still smile the entire time. The Mighty Mekong cuts through this area along the east border. Laos is truly a Mekong country, the river runs its full length. It is a quiet, unexplored jewel of Southeast Asia with only 4 million people. Landlocked between China, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, Laos has long remained isolated. Despite the fact that it was heavily bombed in the '60s and early '70, its culture and scenery remain intact, from the lush green mountains of its North to the ancient archeaological treasures of its South. You will not find large numbers of tourists as its leaders are worry of the difficulties mass tourism can cause.

A Sugary Swirl of Sky, Sand, and Salt

I am terrible at naming images - today's photo was named by Lisa, who has a great way with words!

A fun part of the Great Salt Lake with beautiful textures and lines - the key is hitting it with just the amount of water. Too much or too little, and the scene is lost.

This was shot with a Sony 12-24 dialed in at 14mm. The wide angle works great with these ground structures. As with any wide angle, you must monitor the background as you compose so it doesn't lose its impact.

GPS is not the exact spot of the shot.
