Had the crew in for their health certs and vaccines necessary for travel thru Canada. They don't look too excited, but it's not an easy task to round them together for a group photo. In a few short days we hit the road.
I was making panning shots, and grabbed a shot of the sushi delivery boy on the left. Six minutes later, I took another picture of the same boy returning. Sushi delivered!
Fun to make a seamless composite of both pictures.

Tidying up my archive I found a very vibrant green / yellow shot of heleniums taken last year, which I kind of quite liked, but felt the colour was a little intense. So a perfect opportunity to learn and play with modifying colours.
The channel mixer (in affinity photo, but i think it's fairly standard functionality) doesn't do quite what I hoped it would, but it does allow colours to be manipulated and pulled in different directions. Really interesting exercise. It's apparently very useful when doing 'standard' edits, but here I used it to modify the colours to something a bit more subtle. With some help from a couple of Looks in Topaz Studio 2.

the Pilgrims Way path leads to Holy Island across the sands at low tide, the path being marked by a series of long poles. The tide is very fast moving and can catch people out due to the quickly rising waters. So there are 2 refuge boxes, perched on top of the poles that mark the route, high enough to keep the unfortunate safe and dry until the waters recede

The Pareto Principle—sometimes known as the 80/20 rule—states that for many outcomes, roughly 80% of consequences come from 20% of causes (the "vital few"). It can be applied to economics (80% of the wealth is held by 20% of the people), software engineering (fix 20% of the bugs, eliminate 80% of the crashes), and a host of other domains.
In jigsaw puzzles, 80% of the frustration fun will derive from the remaining 20% of the pieces to place.
While camping at Lake Pleasant near Phoenix, a really nasty storm came through with lots of wind, rain and lightning. I finally got a few decent lightning shots! After the storm subsided, I sat in our tow car and got these shots by resting the camera on the window. I've wanted to get lightning shots for a long time, so I'm pretty happy with these. Thank you, Mike for helping me with the editing....maybe there's hope for me yet!

Countdown Day #6
One of the most exciting adventures for us when visiting Alaska is always our Katmai NP & Preserve bear viewing days. For the countdown days prior to that flight out of Homer, Alaska, we pray for good weather and get more excited by the each day in anticipation of getting our first glimpse again of the coastal brown bears of Katmai.
We board our flight over and almost immediately I start taking shots of all of the beauty we pass along the way. The sights are almost impossible to convey - each so unique and beautiful in it's own way. As we fly toward Katmai, we pass by Mount Redoubt and Mount Augustine, Mount Iliamna, and have views of Lake Clark NP and Kodiak NP at a distance. We fly over the Cook Inlet, as well as various lakes, rivers, mountains, waterfalls - just to name a few.
I like this shot because it depicts the sheer vastness of the land. Yes, this is coastal brown bear territory! As we locate a good spot to land for bear viewing, we pass many sightings of them - sometimes a solo bear ot two, sometimes several in the same river, at the same place.
Yes, it's a magical place for us and we can't wait to go back!

Shooting against overcast Sun , at rockcliffe Airport Ottawa Canada, Is not a PS Effect, Is not an overlay picture, I make a minus adjustment in LR. With clarify, and high lights , ahhh and I crop the picture

the Holy Island of Lindisfarne is only reachable at low tide, when tide turns the island is cut off from the mainland. There is a drive-able causeway linking to the island (also submerged at high tide) but the traditional (and by far the best) way to cross by foot is to follow the Pilgrims Way.
This is to walk across the sands avoiding quicksand and other dangers. The line of the crossing is marked by large poles in the sands, simply follow the line of poles and you will arrive safe and sound - well you might have sunk into smelly mud a few times, but that just adds to the fun...

This is one of the more successful shots taken during a visit to Sissinghurst on a dull, drizzly Sunday in late May. There's not a lot to add to the millions of words that have already been written about this iconic garden. Here are links to the official National Trust site and the Wikipedia article:
